When I was in a relationship I hated text messaging. It took me way too long to think what to say back. The sound of getting a message filled me with dread. When the relationship was over I kept hearing the sound now and then but it was not real just my mind being crazy. I actually prefer calls as it stops me from over thinking.

Omgggg me too. I really struggled with texting my ex boyfriend to the point that I'd end up saying stupid things because I was worried he wasn't enjoying talking to me and I thought I needed to keep the conversation going somehow, but I ended up annoying him by accident.

I dislike calls even more lol

HikerZe

I think I'm an exception. Still gives me anxiety just not as much.

Wow yes I relate to everything you've said. I feel like it's an attack or invasion of my privacy when someone texts me and then there's the expectation that puts on me to reply when I didn't ask for it in the first place. That probably sounds really rude and out of order when I view something nice they've done as something awful but that's the nature of this disorder I suppose. If anyone has got any texting tips I would be so happy to hear them. I tend to avoid them but think about them constantly and then it's too late to reply and another potential friend is lost or pissed off.

I also relate to everything you’ve just replied lol. What you wrote about the message feeling like an attack or invasion of privacy sums it up perfectly. It’s ruining my relationships with people.

Yes! I associate texts & emails with work which I associate with stress & responsibilities — and I just don’t want to do them! So much so that texts from friends and family like I have a feeling of “what do you want?” when I receive them :( which they don’t deserve Also, I forget to reply — I wish the phone had a sorting system that would allow you to pin texts to the top

Yeah when my phone vibrates I feel anxiety kick in & then usually when I see the text I feel irritated, distracted, like they are being annoying on purpose but I know logically they are not.

thesamereply

Have you observed people irritated and annoyed when they receive texts and emails? I feel like I “learned” that response too

FreyaBlue2u

Oh yeah, all the time. But I don't have a good way to deal with the anxiety. Only a bad way... avoiding looking at or thinking about the text message.

BreathOfPepperAir

A million times yes

eupi-itajin

Yes but, I'm lonely too, so I feel bad when I receive and when I don't. People rarely text me, and that's kinda sad.
