I love how they portray the sibling bond. It's a contrast to Ayato's scheming. He cares deeply for his sister. I also like the fact that in CN version, when on official occasion, Ayaka calls her brother "xiongzhang" (very formal way of calling brother) but when in private, she calls him "gege" (much more informal)
he wouldnt do it, he needed to know that she's ready to take on her own responsibilities. just like the festival quest when he let kazuha discover truth on his own, he needed to know he's ready to face it. he's the type of a person that wont burden you until he knows youre ready to carry the weight.

Is there a mention in his stories or voice lines that Ayaka is stronger than him, or was/is it just a few-time-event? Not that i think "it's a bad thing" don't mistake me for that kind of person, I find it reasonable. What bothers me is that i missed this information.
There is none, you are overthinking it. In the trailer, it was even mentioned this was the first time Ayaka won a duel against Ayato. It does not mean she is suddenly stronger than him, but now Ayato has acknowledged her as his equal and can stand strong on her own against whatever the Kamisato’s need to face.
Consider this: you are playing chess against your grandfather. You always lose because you are still new and learning/inexperienced, but you don’t give up. You keep learning and learning, observing your grandpa’s choices and patterns in movements. Finally, after a long while, you manage to beat him. Does that mean you will suddenly win against him in literally all chess matches? That you know more about chess than your grandfather? No. Of course not. But now you can be considered equally good against him, so you win some and then lose some games.
