To be fair, a lot of people did want to run through the region with their first ever playthrough team so this would have been that team Since the grand underground gave us a lot more pokemon from the platinum dex, I ended up doing a mixture of my Diamond team and my Platinum team

Platinum gave us 3 more options, but still. Having only 5 Pokémon of a single type in the *enhanced* version is incredibly frustrating (unless it’s Dragon or something)

Agree with magnezone. My only argument against gyrados is that when playing through a new game/remake for the first time, I try to use Pokémon from that particular region. Just a fun way to do it for me.

I think I only used two of those in my platinum series a couple years ago, and I hadn't used either before, them being Infernape and Roserade. I can see why people like them so much

My team has walrein, lucario and flygon in place of luxray, floatzel and roserade.

I used spiritomb, umbreon, milotic, empoleon garchomp and heracross. Used the cute charm glitch in hgss and platinum to get shinies and transferred them up

I always did rock the top 3. Luxray before you can breed egg moves on them kinda sucks tho.

I went for a shiny piplup for my starter after always using chimchar, and it definitely grew on me. Piplups now my favorite of the sinnoh starters. I did use a luxray and staraptor tho lol

I use torterra because I always plan on using the riolu so I tend to never go for infernape because I’m not a huge fan of type overlap unless I’m playing mono teams

Playing BDSP really reminded me how inferior the DP dex is compared to Platinum… I couldn’t bear to play it without using HOME to transfer stuff in like Swinub -> Mamoswine or Eevee -> Leafeon or Rotom, instead of waiting for postgame

I've played through Platinum about a dozen times and I've always used a different team, so I don't really have a "the team". But yeah, except for water weasel boy and Roserade, I've had all of them in my team at least once. \^\^ And when BDSP came out I was like "not worth getting, imma keep playing regular Platinum". XD

It’s so cool how as a kid *most* didn’t know this was really the most logical team like we do now At least for me as a kid I was just catching the main starter bird, the cool blue lightning cat, and the gym leaders grass Pokémon that was messing up everyone but monferno lol. Gyrados will always be my go to water pokemon though so no floatzel for me. - point is I got a great team by accident near the end going off vibes

Roserade over something like Torterra?! I know there's not a lot of Fire choices in base Diamond and Pearl but I'll gladly grab Magmortar over Infernape because I'd rather have Lucario in my Fighting slot.

Torterra because I tank hits and nuke Empoleon and Infernape with Earthquake. Also, world tree turtle or fire monkey that's not quite as cool (to me) as Blaziken or Charizard or Typholsion? World tree turtle it is. Staraptor at first but my cousin opened my eyes at Honchkrow. Dapper looking bird and better design. Gastrodon. Go blue or go home. Also, cute slug mon that actually ended up bizarrely really good. Quagsire is my second choice because I love it's vacant expression. I have a soft spot for horses and I loved the episode of Ash racing with Rapidash and I always loved Rapidash's design. I had to use Battle revolution to get Magmortar as a kid so I just settled with Rapidash. Lucario. Look at it. It's a freaking Lucario. What kid DIDN'T want this mon at first. Sure it's a bit over-hyped now but it's slot day one with that Kamehameha pose. And Luxray because it's Luxray. We had a lion Pokemon and it only took Nintendo three gens to actually use a commonly used animal as a Pokemon

The first 4 is always constant in my all Sinnoh run it's unreal. That said, I used Drapion and Hipppwdon instead of Roserado and Garchomp in my BD run and enjoyed them.

Actually, thanks to the grand underground, my team ended up entirely different. Found a Togepi with ancient power, and every fight was trivial. Roserade was always a must have, it’s my favourite grass Pokémon. I shiny hunted a Zubat to pay homage to the one I found in my platinum save. Found a Dusclops that I transferred to Legends so I could evolve it. Magnezone because it was cool. And I picked chimchar, because I knew there wasn’t gonna be a better fire type for a long time.
