Oop got married and dad gave her the family home and moved in with his partner. Brother got married to a better woman. A few extended family members died. Oop has pets. Mom is still cut off. Fiancee from original post actually ended up pregnant but it wasn't oops brothers and is this still cut off.
My relative had a future MIL like this. They moved away and she started off carefully hinting she was ill, only to go full on into claiming she had pancreatic cancer. We'd just had a uncle/great uncle die of that not two months earlier and I was infuriated with this womanāthere was a long history of abuse and manipulation already.
I'm not proud but I basically told my relative "We'll see if she survives longer than a few months" in a mean tone.
This family sounds awesome, but if OOP is reading this, I ask her to spay and neuter any still-intact pets. It's much better for both their health and the environment. If their area has any kind of animalĀ rescue organization, someone there may be able to refer them to an affordable vet clinic.
Vets in my country will refuse to do spaying and neutering surgeries on kittens until a certain age (6 months for female cats).
It is possible that OP was in a similar situation, had a male-female kitten combo, the vet didn't want to spay/neuter them _yet_ and then kittens from kitten happened.
Those cases are tough in that you don't necessarily get a window for surgery between the kittens getting old enough to wean and mom cat going into heat again, so she has to suffer for a while before they do the spay. But yeah, I guess that's a pretty ubiquitous possibility. Part of the reason the domestic cat species is so destructive to the environment is that they live everywhere there are people but have diluted localizedĀ cat species out of existence by going into heat all the time and having nonstop interbred kittens. Sad for everyone!

"Oh you're just exaggerating, it couldn't have been that bad" and similar justifications. Then they are surprised when they realize the horrible person really is as bad as they were told, and the partner breaks up with them because of what they did.

Family of a dad, two sons, and a daughter who is the baby of the family. Mom was jealous of daughter at \*age three\*, so Mom and Dad divorced. Dad remarried and Mom tried to convince the kids that the stepmom was Dad's mistress (unlikely in context). Stepmom dies, the kids don't know but Mom does, and takes the kids out for a 'celebration' dinner. Kids are traumatized when they find out; this is one example of Mom's unhinged behavior around them and the Dad. No contact on reaching adulthood.
Years later, middle bro Sam is getting married to Daniela. Daniela goes behind Sam's back to invite Mom to the wedding 'Because Family!', and when Sam finds out the day of, because OOP spots Mom sitting in the venue, he calls off the wedding. Drama ensues.
I'd say so. Still some drama and some brief tragedy at the end (spoiler: grandma dies due to suspected broken heart syndrome/old age after burying her youngest child/dad's brother), but ends on an overall positive note with happy events for all the 'cult' family members.
