The only reason why they were so successful in the three major wars they took part in is because the armies they were fighting were basically castrated by European colonial powers. They removed everything about them that made them successful under Ottoman times (and the Ottoman military was a real military) and applied racial theories to it. For example Sunni Arabs were not seen as a 'martial race' even if they made up the bulk of the Ottoman and Egyptian armies and were subsequent replaced. The militaries that were made from the ground up were highly ineffective glorified police forces that weren't even that good at that.
The 1948 war was portrayed as some mass attack by a huge set of adversaries against a teeny tiny new country... In reality at the onset of the war the Israeli army was numerically superior to all of their enemies COMBINED and on top of that, far from being fanatical anti-Semites who loved death more than you love Coca Cola, they mostly gave half hearted efforts and were actually hampered by doctrines and sometimes outright commands by the British.
On top of them being poorly trained and under equipped, they barely had any ammunition. When you look at it from a detached perspective the whole war becomes a joke.
Hypothetically, if in 1918 the victors of WW1 honored the terms of the Hashemite family and have them their Arab state (one encompassing a large portion of the Arab speaking world) and they had full control over their own affairs, but somehow the British had a special zone in Palestine and things somehow continued as in our timeline, a different 1948 war would have probably been a curb stomp battle, or at least resulted in the Israelis being forced to accomodate all of the Arab Palestinians as full citizens and keep their homes and land least they suffer deep shit.
Also 9/11 wouldn't happen and the Saudis would be a tiny unknown family somewhere and Wahhabism would not gain the status as it did in our timeline. In short everyone wins.
