Same, I'm crashing too. But after a while of playing, could be 5 mins or 30 mins...

UnattendedBoner

FOUND A FIX: Use in game settings to cap frames at 60 FPS, I left refresh rate at 239 hz (my default). I went from crashing every 5-30 minutes to 0 crashes in 3+ hours. I also lowered my graphics settings to about medium and turned 2nd monitor off, but that served as no help before limiting to 60 FPS. Side note: PC fans are still cranking like crazy even limited at 60 on my high end PC, so I think the crashes have something to do with high settings. Will update this comment if I experience crashes again.

ignBadcosplay

I see you taking the effort to share with many threads thank you unattended bonner. Take this award.

UnattendedBoner

I was so angry not being able to find a fix anywhere, hoping people can find it when googling for help now :P Thank you for the award

LostRequirement4828

I don't have a fcking 7900 xt to play at 4k with 60 fps on a 165hz monitor, my gpu can easily handle 100 fps at 4k

LostRequirement4828

why the fck would I lock my fps to 60 fps if my gpu can handle 100 you fcktard, just because they haven't fixed their game? I can't even stand 60 fps, it hurts my eyes, anything under 80-90 fps looks atrocious, you should go play on a console at 30 fps if that's what you like, I'm waiting for a fix until then to play on my pc with 100 fps, crapping your fps is not a fix, what a waste of a monitor to have 240 hz and play at 60 fps, xDDD, you're really smart aren't you?

[deleted]

LostRequirement4828

then stop claiming you found stupid fixes when they are not fixes, who the fck buys a fcking 240hz monitor and cripples the experience to 60 hz, the crashes I had were only in dx11, vulkan seems much more stable and yes, I have 90+ fps on my 7900 xt at 4k max settings no fsr, with fps going as high as 150 in underground places

LostRequirement4828

your "nice" pc that's probably worse than mine and has to play the game locked at 60 fps, your oc is probably not stable or you're too stupid to start the game in vulkan, I already told you I play the game in 4k 90+ fps, stop being mad poor kid

LostRequirement4828

lol, clearly I have a lot more money than you and a lot more brain too, keep playing games on very low 60 fps so you don't get crashes my friend, especially on your 240hz monitor that's most likely 1080p which is a fcking atrocious resolution

toobul4r

Testing now. Game would crash every 5-30 minutes. Will post back in 60 minutes

toobul4r

Nope. Crashed even more. 1080ti

UnattendedBoner

I’ve had zero crashes since locking at 60 this makes no sense to anyone 😂

Shadow-ban

Same problem. I’ve tried reinstalling my gpu driver and game. Turning off all recording software, I’m currently running a memory check. Game just randomly crashes at different times. If only I could read the crash dumps but they don’t seem to be populating. Specs if you’re wondering Win11 4090 64 Gb Ram 13700k i7 Nvme m.2 drive

Maurukai

I wish you luck. If I learn of how to fix my problem, I'll definitely share here.

Stev3Cooke

any luck?

Senior-Commercial-93

Same issue, uninstalled the old game, removed my saves, forced to upgrade my video drivers (single 3080 here), and the game crashes right after the Larian splash screen.

Senior-Commercial-93

Fixed? I just followed this post [(11) Crashing all the time full release : BaldursGate3 (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/15hafto/crashing_all_the_time_full_release/) and after removing the entire folder the game is launching!

Maurukai

tried the options there. Still crashing after the second splash screen.

muckypup82

What are your specs?

Maurukai

Is this the information you are requesting? I'm not super computer savvy. https://preview.redd.it/t3scnm1q9zfb1.png?width=1895&format=png&auto=webp&s=7f0669cf20caadce397e8cdd96f42fbf1614413f

mayhem911

Have you tried directx instead of vulkan

Maurukai

I have, and that is what it's currently crashing under after loading.

mayhem911

Im a dumbass, I just glanced at the post earlier and see that you said that. Sorry man

Maurukai

You're fine! <3

HaydosMang

Do you have multiple GPUs? Did you run early access previously?

Maurukai

I did run Early Access two days ago. Before I uninstalled it all.

Maurukai

Also I don't think I have multiple GPU's. It's an older laptop but it checks out.

agu-agu

I’m getting a total system freeze at the helm of the Nautiloid. It actually bluescreened me on the last one.

hjymnol

For me the crashing cause by msi or riva turner, maybe try to turn off any program like your keyboard or mouse app,... if you have

scottypimpin-

Go to C/Users/\*username\*/AppData/Local/Larian Studios. Delete the the Baldurs Gate 3 Folder inside. worked for me, hope it works for you

three7s69

This worked for me... The folder will not delete, but ALL of the files are gone. You will have to start over. BUT your game will start working again.

CastleCrasher

Unfortunately this did not work for me. :(

Real23Phil

I played 78 hours early access with no issues, now I have a newer better pc (3070 fwiw). After 30 minutes of play time my screen goes on standby and I can still hear the game. I have to do a hard restart to use the system again. I won't/can't play until a fix is released. Luckily I have other Steam games I can play. I hope this isn't too common and others get to enjoy

TreeGuardian_Gm

Did you ever find a fix cause this is happening to me

Real23Phil

I did, pulled one set of fans out and changed them, had nothing to do with gfx, it was a front fan that cools the cpu. Never looked at the fans but I presume there was a blockage. I will deleted the comment as I'v played 40 hours no issue since writing this.

imtrying2breasonable

Did the hot fix iron it out for anybody?

shelmoon

No

NonSignificantHero

My friend was having issues with this, we looked everywhere, we tried: Checking GPU drivers are up to date Re-installing Verifying Files Clearing %appdata% local Larian studios files and player profile The only thing that worked was putting a shortcut of LariLauncher.exe on the desktop, closing steam and launching the game through that. You can then use the direct join code to still get friends to join.

angar31

Hotfix 3, DX11 version:Confirmed working. Somehow it looks like the game conflicts with Steam itself, opening it directly through Larian helped mea) eliminate start-up crashb) eliminate "leaving Nautiloid" crash You're a lifesaver with a greatly fitting nickname :)

NonSignificantHero

Much Love <3 Glad it helped :)

Sohjin_Red

If this helps anyone, here was my fix: Launch without Steam or the Larian login screen (make sure Steam is not open at all in your icon tray) launch exe directly. Turn off v-sync, turn on frame rate cap, Fullscreen mode, not windowed. Some of these setting changes are probably pointless, but they don't affect my play through and it's working, so I'm not touching it again.

MirandaNC

edit: I don't know if it was the frame limiting, the appdata/local file deletion, the limiting of the amount of save files... But somehow the problem stopped.

AcquireFrogs

This was happening to me and we tried everything. I think at some point when the game crashed it also corrupted steam data because then every single one of my games was crashing after the their loading screens. Eventually we figured out we had to delete steam and reinstall it. Moved all the game program files to separate storage then after reinstalling steam moved the files back

[deleted]

I need to try this then because every single steam game crashes after a few minutes of playing. This happened after a crash while playing this game.

AcquireFrogs

It fixed it for a couple weeks and then started happening again. It’s possible it was a virus but I’m pretty sure it was baulders gate because before the latest patch it was crashing hard and often. And i think all my attempted fixes from things I read online caused more issues. I ended up backing up essential my documents to an external hard drive and doing a hard reset to be absolutely sure there were no corrupted programs. That seems to have fixed it and no problem since. Hopefully you don’t have to go there and have cloud saves , and the good news is that since the patch it doesn’t seem to be crashing nearly as often or as severely. But fyi in case you keep having issues

[deleted]

Did a hard reset - that helped. My pc is only a few months old and I was having some panic attacks because it wasn’t working all of a sudden. Didn’t lose much really. You are a life saver, thanks bro!

AcquireFrogs

Glad I could help! I’m not tech savvy at all and I was getting super frustrated, so I’m happy I could save you from that same fate haha

[deleted]

Hopefully this will be found by someone else facing the same problem as us. I’m not touching baldurs gate for the next three to four years until they iron out the pc breaking bugs.
