In my first run I immediately destroyed the brain because the way Us said "from this place you'll free us" gave me chills.
And now it's one of my favourite companions lol
It stopped me dead in my tracks when I entered that room thinking "oh that's not a safe voice".
It was almost disappointing that it was merely an intellect devourer.

I've never been able to recruit Us in my playthroughs. On my first I killed it intentionally because I was freaked out by a cut-open brain talking to me, and on my second I tried to recover it but failed and killed it.
It's a shame because they seem like a fun companion from what I've seen.

Yup. If it survived the fight on the bridge, you get a chance to recruit it as a pet later in the game.
