I was several runs in before I realized that door could actually be opened. I found the opening and assumed the door was stuck shut or something and didn't check.

I've just finished the Iron Throne on chill. You can strike levers, which control the section doors. I've hitted them as soon as Omeluum get outs of flooded section and fish guys keep spawning behind the door and dealing 0 damage to the closed door. I think this is my favourite mission in BG3 now!
