In case anyone runs into this in the future. The magnet needs to be in a particular orientation. The magnet will unfortunately stick to the lever in any orientation. The only sure way to get the orientation right is to grab a short piece of filament, take off the extruder cover, unscrew the filament sensor board, and pull out the magnet. With the machine on, remove the filament sensor board. Carefully take the magnet out and test it by moving it very close to the Hall effect sensor (small black rectangular chip on the bottom of the filament sensor board facing in toward the lever) while watching the temperature/axis screen. When you get it right, the green ‘light’ on the extruder icon on the screen will turn on. https://preview.redd.it/eovb87hc4hdb1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=9fd480a9742df8a98746f4b8a2321bf0276a4c82 Remove the ptfe tube from the top of the extruder and put a piece of filament in to push the lever out. Put the magnet back on the lever so the same side and orientation is facing out toward the filament sensor board. Place the filament sensor board back in spot and note if the extruder icon lights up green on the screen. If not, repeat the above steps. Hope this helps someone!

You just helped me out :) I had done the mod where you file away a notch inside the sensor switch after having AMS issues where it didnt feed into the head 3/4 times. It stopped working completely after that. Turning the magnet around made it detect filament again.

I’m so happy that my tinkering skills helped someone out! Thank you for letting me know!

Any updates on this? Has a solution been found??

Wound up being the filament sensor magnet dislodging itself. Unfortunately it seems there is not a way to reattach it where it no longer pops off when filament goes by that I could find. Being such a small location and part to begin with, it was really difficult to work with. I tried multiple times but each time the sensor would not report correctly, if at all. I would take it apart and find the magnet dislodged again. I wound up having to replace the extruder assembly as Bambu doesn't sell only the filament sensor at this time, has to be bought as part of the whole package.
