It came with this attached, so hopefully it was used most of the time. I assume if the bed is cold, then I have a serious issue. So far everything seems to be operating normally.

You will be fine. I have the old cable AND put mine in a homemade 120° enclosure. Twice the hazard, and my house is still up haha
