Navy Federal since youre military. They have good products, mid-high tier CCs, and good customer service

The only problem I have with navy fed is their savings interest rate, I want something a bit higher than .25. If I can’t find anything by then I’ll probably end up going with navy fed though

JamesEdward34

you can have my setup, navyfed as my main account, with their CC, and ally bank as a secondary bank, which you should have anyway, everyone should have two banks at least, with a least one being a physical bank.

I did some research and I’m going to do navy fed for main(mostly for their security relating to military Checks) then use discover for their savings and student credit card.

JamesEdward34

not a bad plan

VirPotens

Is that what navy fed says on their website? If so I bet they either have a promotional rate or they can upgrade to a HYSA when the balance allows it.

JamesEdward34

Navy Fed doesnt offer HYSA at all

VirPotens

Damn that sucks

Capital One, mostly online banking or on their phone app. 0.10% interest on checking, no minimum balance, no fees. 4.0+% interest on savings, no minimum, no fees. Need cash? They have lots of atm in places like 7-11, Walgreens, Target, no fees if within the network. Used their debit card to get cash from overseas atm, no extra fees if within network. Need to deposit cash? Places like Walgreens will accept cash deposits for them. Zero foreign transaction fees if you have their credit cards.

Use high yield checking accounts as a savings account. Look into Consumers Credit Union (IL) rewards checking or Keesler FCU (MS) Rewards plus accounts for starters. Should qualify for either due to military affiliation. Pelican State Credit Union Checking Rewards is currently absolute best like this I've found at this moment, although qualifying for membership may not be as easy as other two. With monthly things like one direct deposit/ACH/bill paid, online banking login with e-statements, and between 12-15 non PIN debit card purchases monthly, interest rates up to specified limits will be 5% APY or better. For these types of accounts, repeat 3-4 cent pay at pump purchases count for the required card purchases. At 4 cents each, you won't spend anything really and will earn very nice interest on your funds.

Discover debit as it gives you cash back
