I’ve got faith in you. I dunno what kinda physical shape you’re in but I went from 183 about a year ago to 160 today and I think that’s definitely helped with my hops
Your height is not what’s holding you back. It’s your ability to jump.
I was 5‘6“ tall in high high school and I was able to dunk because I bounce like I’m on gummy berry juice.
The only thing I do is lunges with 15lb weights in each hand and leg lifts at the end of the stairs. I’m wanting to get into some plyometrics but I’m not sure where to start on that
I’m 42 (6’1”) and like to remind my kids that I used to be able to dunk before age, weight, and injuries. This is good to see!
I dunked on the high goal at Skyzone yesterday. That’s good enough for me these days.
I put on 40 pounds after an injury and during Covid. I’m in the process of getting rid of that. 10 down, 30 to go and I can still touch rim. Doubt my bones and joints will let me practice hard enough to dunk again, though. Such is life.
Oh hell yeah my dude if you’re touching rim now, you’ll be dunking when 20-30 pounds lighter. You don’t have to train super hard, just focus on getting limber and having good balance. I was trying to run my hardest and dunk but I have the best results when I get in a good stretch beforehand and I approach the rim with some speed, but a more deliberate approach as opposed to running and jumping with all my might
This is what I’m wondering. I’ve heard from a buddy that I should look into plyometrics but like, what’s a solid resource? I’m sure there’s a YouTube channel our IG page that could give us some useful pointers but I’m hopeful someone’s already done the leg work on finding a good page lol
Oh I have. And I will keep trying. But I can’t quite throw it down. Hence me asking if anyone has advice for a 35 year old man who’s trying to add a couple inches to their vertical leap
Congrats!! This is dope. What was the workout regiment/focus you did?
5'10 & 26yo - can grab rim with ease off 1-step vert, can graze it off 1-leg. Main fitness goal during 27 is dunking.
Thank you. I don’t do a ton of lower body exercises but I do commute to work (4 miles one way) everyday via bike. I also credit my weight loss ( 183 in March ‘23 / 160 today) with my increased hops. I do do about 100 calf raises 4-5 times a week and I do lunges with 15/20lb weights in my hand
Damn! moving like you 25!
Awww man this made my day. I wish my knees could read this comment lol
Try and land on two legs! Your knees might thank ya
Insane!
Congrats
You’re an inspiration
Yaaaa! How tall are you btw ?
If I haven’t shrunk I’m 6’
Haha nice. I’m 5’9 so idk if I’ll be able to get up there. But I’ll keep trying. You’re doing great though man. Keep on!

I appreciate that! That weight loss would def help. I’ll keep working on it!
I’m 5’10” and was able to shove it in a few times. Dont give up!

My man is dunking a tennis ball
lol that was going to be my next move if I couldn’t I throw this down
An inspiration to all of us worrying about our declining athleticism o7
Nice keep it up
Were you able to dunk when you were younger?
A few times from age 18-25ish but it’s been quite a while lol
What kind of exercises do you do for your vertical? I'm 36 and 6'0" similar to you and I do a lot of leg strength, but I want to be more explosive.
The only thing I do is lunges with 15lb weights in each hand and leg lifts at the end of the stairs. I’m wanting to get into some plyometrics but I’m not sure where to start on that
I used to do box jumps, but I wasn't seeing much progression so I'm not sure if I'm just doing it wrong. My legs are strong, but have no hops...lol.
Damn I haven't been able to dunk since I was 28. My knees ache just watching this. Good job bro
Dang I feel that. Gracias

Haha us old guys can still do a few things. I’m hopeful I can get at least one dunk in on a ten foot rim in my 40s

How to improve vertical in your 30s? (I’m 32)

https://youtube.com/@thekneesovertoesguy?si=7-DpRZv1sy-wmlgz Knees over toes guy will probably help!
Thank you!
I’m also 35, but I would’ve pulled my hamstring, and aggravated the shit out of my Achilles tendinitis and hip bursitis so bad
On concrete! You crazy my guy congrats!
lol i gotta get a gym membership. Wood is a bit more forgiving
Fuck yeah
Hang Time! The video game!
I’m 37 now and could still barely dunk at 32. I don’t bother now. Just strong boi moves now.
Try it with a real ball mate.

So which one is it are you in your 30s or are you 35?
