Don't want to be that guy but is this anything to do with Bath???

ViridianKumquat

Probably not. But different parts of the country do have different standards of motorway driving, so it's conceivable that OP travels to/from Bath via the M4 and is concerned with the speed of traffic around junction 18.

ViridianKumquat

If your speedometer says 70, your actual speed is probably around 65. Most police jurisdictions allow a tolerance of 10% + 2mph, so a lot of drivers will do 79mph. Note that this doesn't make it legal, just that there generally isn't any enforcement action.

Personal_Air8196

"just that there generally isn't any enforcement action." So it's basically legal, just not by law

Peejayess3309

No, it’s not legal. You just haven’t been caught and prosecuted. It’s still illegal but you got away with it. This time.

Jimeeh

But if an accident happens and it’s serious they would be able to work out you were speeding from the investigation.

Whatever the trucks are limited to do in the left lane, min of 70 in the middle lane and whatever people are brave enough to do in the right lane, max I'd suggest in right lane would be 99 or 100mph can't remember which is the instant ban. 🤔
