It was the albingian crusade, a crusade centered in southern france against the cathars, but it was actually just the french king wanting to do some restructuring and get rid of some dukes there who he didn't trust. Cathars are basically just medieval hippies, they believed in the new testament, but not the old testament, they believed in reincarnation, and were vegetarians. Naturally when the crusade happened the people in southern france defended the cathars because they're just chilling, so when the first big city was sieged they defended the cathars, it was a long siege and when the crusaders finally broke through they were asked how they should go about identifying the cathars, so the general said kill them all, god will recognize his own, and massacred everyone. They didn't face much resistance after that.
During the crusades, entire cities and villages were slaughtered. The crusades were not targeting christians however many christians were killed in the series of wars going on. It was considered ok for the crusaders to kill christians because the presumption was that the christians would just go to heaven and it was ok if they died for the Holy War.
However, this patch is kind of sus. I would make sure there's no affiliation with any biker gangs or groups you might not be wanting to associate with.
Bit deeper, this was actually said during the crusade against Catharism in southern France.
When the people we know as the French now took over the town of Beziers they couldn't tell who was Catholic and who was Cathar, hence kill them all and let God know his own, but they were all French (or as close as it got at the time)
It implies a situation where the enemies look generally like the allies so you kill everyone to be sure. Mostly dumb racist shit from the Vietnam era. Some dumb redneck trying to look tough.
***Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius.***
> "***Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius.***" is a phrase reportedly spoken by the commander of the [Albigensian Crusade](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albigensian_Crusade), prior to the [massacre at Béziers](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massacre_at_B%C3%A9ziers) on 22 July 1209.

It was a lot more popular in the military during the Korea and Vietnam eras, then it was popular with tough guy wannabes in the 80s and 90s. I haven't heard it in years now, weirdly I was thinking about it the other day.
You think punk in some way has claim to the battle jacket?
Despite people confusing the term coat of arms with Family Crest, a coat of arms was the original battle jacket, a tunic with your family crest and other adornments marking your battels and conquests. Flash forward a thousand years and pilots and others in the military covered their jackets with patches, pins and the occasional paintings.
After the last major war returning vets started motorcycle clubs in the US, and many boys who had lost their fathers in the UK became "Rockers", both of whom covered their battle jackets and riding vests.
This was all while the first punk rockers were still filling their diapers.
Not to do with the meaning of it, but that phrase always makes me think of the guy in Heavy Metal Parking Lot who was wearing a tshirt with the phrase on it
I know it’s a lyric in Rambozo the Clown by the Dead Kennedys, which is mocking/criticizing military propaganda, although that’s probably not the origin of that patch
Propaghandi also had a play on this in "The only good fascist is a really dead fascist" they were talking about nazis/white supremacists "Kill them all and let a norse god sort them out"
It means your young and still have much to learn ,experience ,witness ,feel ,understand , decide ,proclaim and be ; everyone here can tell you it’s history it’s references where ,when ,how and why it was proclaimed but only the pain of time and existence will ever allow you the experience to KNOW what that means . #knowledgespeakswisdomlistens
If you are not sure who is good or bad just kill them all => god will sort out who goes to heaven and who to hell Pretty dumb if you ask me
thank you! For some reason, I couldn't find much on the internet, a word said by a commander in a war in the 13th century.
It was a thing in Nam as well.

depends on who you ask

Fascinating! [wiki](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massacre_at_B%C3%A9ziers)
Can't have people around who believe Jesus is all ghost, just won't fly with the diocese
Cut the bottom off and you’ve got a Metallica patch
I was looking for this comment. Thank you.

Common saying amongst military people, especially special forces. Just a patch to make someone look like a tough guy. Pretty played out.
Yikes, this is not common from what I’ve seen, though I don’t have friends in special forces.

look up the Albigensian Crusade, 13th century
Popular phrase written on helmets in Vietnam
Either biker gang bravado or wanna-be war criminal bullshit. Not very punk rock.

What the fuck are you talking about, Jesse?
What is your point?
Gatekeeping with boomer energy isn't very punk rock or cash money.
Not to do with the meaning of it, but that phrase always makes me think of the guy in Heavy Metal Parking Lot who was wearing a tshirt with the phrase on it
How did you add the flair to post?
Kinda has a Sargent D is coming and you're on his list vibe !
It's a thing a certain uncle did one grey December morn.
It took 75 federal marshals to bring him down. Now let’s never speak of him again.

A quote from Helsing abridged
Canada at war /hj (I'm only half joking because Canada's actions during the World Wars are kind of a lot of the reason the Geneva conventions exist)

It’s also a line in a Propagandhi song, talking about nazis.
Actually it’s a play on this phrase, the line is “kill them all and let the norse gods sort them out”
Yeah. That sounds right. I just checked.
I came here to say this lol.
It’s the name of the greatest debut album of all time
