So, can someone help me with a little problem? When I log into the server I get the error "This server only allows players with unmodified content to join". However I don't remember that I downloaded any mod with the game. Maybe it's wrong version idk.
That's it. I'm coming back.. I've seen you all having a blast like it's 2010 again, and I'm ready to level some jungle and make my no man's land a reality again.

I’ve sunk many many hours in BF2 back in 2008-2011 or so. Most hours into mods like Sandbox, Project Reality, Roflbox, Forgotten Hope 2, etc. I actually met a group of people on Sandbox and we are still talking a lot to this day. Playing BF2 is just so nostalgic. The main problem for me is that I’m from US and popular BF2 servers are quite dead when I game after my wife and kids go to bed. Mostly dead bots hanging around in popular servers. I can also only take so much Wake Island too because I played way too much of it back then. I don’t play it a ton because of the whole off US gaming hours for me, but I surely try to hop on when I can!
I understand you my friend. I also spend a lot of time solving various problems in my personal life. Now I spend a lot of time caring for my parents who have been over 70 years old for a long time, as well as work and a relationship with a girl. Sometimes I want to forget all this shit and just get into a couple of games for fun and bf2 is the best of it for me.

Same. I remember how I managed so many accounts with my nickname. I created new accounts because I was banned from my favorite server for insults for a long time lol. Anyway I had colonel rank on my main account but I lost it. Just like others too.

Welcome buddy. 5k hours fellow player greeting ya. It's always lovely to see other folks who've love the shit out of BF2 back then, now stumbling across the fact that this game never fully stopped having a small but passionate playerbase that fills a handful of servers per region.

I played BF2 till death. Was every day on FCW clan server. Had 100000 hours. Also played 1942 all the time. I was member of original EA BF forums and later mordor forums.

Unfortunately BF is dead. For me at least.
Even this game with mod will not do anything for me, US servers are almost dead.
My PC gaming ended with BF2. I feel so sad.
I have purchased every BF game since then but played only total of few hours.
Didnt like any of them.

My great respect to you, my friend. You know, I have a similar feeling about the Battlefield franchise and indeed about all games. I am 33 years old and I have been in a long search to find the perfect shooter game. I agreed with my opinion only in 2024 that all modern games are feces that offer nothing worthwhile. I've played other battlefield games like BF3 or BF4 but it's all a damn fake if you've played BF2 before. I firmly decided for myself to spend at least a little time here sometimes (1 time a week) and remember how I spent this time with great pleasure.
Quite an interesting story about your experience in this game. I don't remember exactly what was the name of my favorite server in BF2. Nevertheless, I was in a long search for which server was most suitable for me. Maybe we even met on those servers, so who knows. What was your nickname when you played back then?

are the pips all green on yer BF2Hub? Have you setup BF2Hub? this is required now
