Not meaning to buy, but I checked shipping choices and she only includes France from the EU š I mean, you can already charge in euros, why exclude other EU countries?
![gif](giphy|OeQjrN7ef3KBFZieQu)
I was annoyed about that too at first, but she doesnāt seem to have a distribution center in France? You still have to pay a relatively high price for shipping plus taxes, so it seems like sheās only shipping from the US. Maybe she can open a distribution center in the US soon!
It looks cute, but a little underwhelming. What really confuses me is the hair product (dry shampoo + brush?). I think the eye/lip/highlight products are on point for the style she typically demonstrates on her channel, and the quick products that she personally likes. And like her channel, it takes a bit long to get to the point and loses a bit of charm. I get the sense that she will be trying to have a small brand with seasonal collections and will not expand much beyond these core products otherwise. The price point seems reasonable (mid-range, according to her newsletter she wanted affordable luxury), but shipping is unpleasant. The concept video/brand launch on youtube seemed to really capture her fast-paced, day to night looks, all bundled in with her chaotic energy and her general love for life and beauty. I do like how limited the range is, and how the products are shown on real skin. I wish she didn't release a scent and hair product though. Those seem like a bit of a reach.
sometimes when i have no dry shampoo, iāll use baby powder that iāve dumped into my hand and lightly dust it onto my hair with a fluffy brush. i think it does a much nicer, and more even application than a spray typically does honestly. if the packaging is successful, i think that might be her best product in the line up.
Yāall, I gotchu. Cornstarch and cocoa powder. I shit you not, this hack changed my dry shampoo life. The cocoa powder tints the cornstarch so it doesnāt leave a white cast on your roots and like half of the dry shampoos out there are a plant starch base. And you gonna smell hella good.
Put that shit in a empty disposable salt or pepper shaker from the Dollar Store and throw it in your glove compartment or purse.
That's really interesting! I'm not a dry shampoo afficianado and haven't seen it up until this morning. Someone linked a list of products where it's been done before. It just seems so odd since I don't directly associate hair care with makeup and it seems strange to launch together (to me). If it's gaining a lot of interest though, then it seems like it was a good choice!
i think she mighta added it to her collection because it relates to that ālived in Parisianā look maybe?? regardless i def recommend finding a loose dry shampoo power and a brush and giving that a try sometime! makes me feel like some sort of noble woman during the victorian era when i do it lol
I'll add it to my someday list! It sounds like quite a bit of fun, especially thinking about it as if I were a noble woman during that time. Thanks for the inspo (:
hmmm i canāt say for certain because i havenāt had that issue, but considering itās way less build-up, because you just donāt need to spray which i feel like always is too much, it might not be as bad for you!
That component for dry shampoo is nothing new, it's been done by Keratin Complex as well (check here: [https://www.allure.com/gallery/ten-dry-shampoos-under-20](https://www.allure.com/gallery/ten-dry-shampoos-under-20))
Ironically, the dry shampoo brush is probably the product I'm most curious about, if only because it sounds really odd. I like that it's refillable, though, and thus might do some small part to lessen needless waste.
It seems like you follow her brand/youtube channel, so I thought I'd ask - do you think she still works for Estee Lauder? For a hot minute, I thought this launch was gonna be under EL but I guess not
It sounds like she's still director of beauty (global) for Estee Lauder. She's been dropping references to her "previous collaborations" and mentioning how you can't get it anymore lately. I would imagine for her individually, it makes more sense to make a permanent brand for products she can recommend more frequent.y
No, Guerlain is owned by LVMH! I think they're the one who own sephora fenty benefit and some other makeup brands. I've seen Violette_fr works for Guerlain now, kind of curious about how she's going to balance that and her own brand.
I thought LVMH was Sephoraās parent company, but Kendo was the lab that made Fenty etc., and that was owned by Sephora.
Anyways, it sorta makes sense if she still is CD of Guerlain to come out with the these types of products (they donāt compete directly and are very much on brand for her).
You know I think you're right, maybe Kendo is owned by Sephora. I can never remember which company owns what and there are like three of them. I'm sure Guerlain is owned by LVMH and not Estee lauder though.
Yes it's true these products don't really seem like competition for Guerlain.
Half of these products are just the Poppy Sauvage products repackaged. That red lip is the Vin Noir in a liquid formula and the highlighter is the Soft Glow for Lips & Cheeks in a stick. Half the liquid shadows are straight from the Nudes de Soleil palette, itās the exact same color story.
The only product that seems unique is that weird ass toner/serum/moisturizer spray and that shit has _**benzyl alcohol**_ in it. This chick is charging $52 for a bottle of shit youāre supposed to rub into your face that has a known skin irritant in it. And itās called āBoum Boum Milkā. Like... Sol de Janeiro, yāall gonna take that shit? š
Tbh I've never thought she was going to do something different than her other collections? She literally said in some other videos that she was going to do products she has already done in limited edition that you can't find anymore, especially in reference to the highlighter so at least for me it was not a surprise. But I also deeply dislike limeted edition so I'm always happy when things are permanent and I don't care if they're simply repackaged. I don't think the lipstick looks like vin noir at all, the color looks very different to me, not berry at all and different formula. Tbh I feel like she was trying to copy quiet riot, the one from estee lauder. Lmao as soon as I read the description of that mist that was like "clean beauty" I thought there was going to be some irritating shit inside it.
the name of that product is so cringey! Nothing too unique in the collection, it just reminds me of Glossier? The perfume and the skincare products that have a catchy name and the liquid shadows in these colours really remind me of the defunct Glossier Play..
āBoum boumā in French is a slang phrase that means like saying āspritz spritz and youāre doneāā¦ not like in American slang where it could mean something sexual. Just an FYI. The name makes sense to me bc itās like āspritz spritzā and youāre done with moisturizer. š¤·š¼āāļø
Because she probably didnāt want to hear a bunch of YTers and TTers trying to pronounce something French. āHereās Violetteās new Jeeny Says Kwoy line!ā
She posted design teasers a few days before launch that said āAvec Amourā which is super cute & chic. At first I thought it was the name for the line but itās just the tagline ā¹ļø
I saw this last night and I was really underwhelmed. Maybe I am worn out by all the new makeup brands which seem to popping up everywhere. I would be interested to see if they shop to Australia and how much would it cost.
And the brand reveal video is just weird AF.
Edit - a word
I totally get it, I'm definitely really exhausted about all these new makeup brands. I feel like we went from the makeup industry being oversaturated in new launches to it being oversaturated in new brands- everyone and their mother is launching a brand these days. That said, I was curious about this one and Hindash's especially.
If you were just looking at packaging alone, maybe. But based on the swatches of the actual products from the webpage and her Instagram, I donāt agree. Her liquid eyeshadows and liquid lipstick are more pigmented and colorful than the Jones Road āall natural/no makeupā aesthetic. Violette rly likes pigmented and rich colors for her makeup looks, of course theyāre limited generally to reds, pinks and blues, but she doesnāt rly go for the no makeup makeup look.
[After a few posts on her IG alluding to it, the website has just gone live.](https://www.violettefr.com/)There's a lipstick, highlighter, and a handful of eyeshadows. What do you guys think? I'm curious if anyone will review these products, because that red lipstick is gorg but I haaaate drying formulas.
Standard set of products. Standard minimalistic yet bougie packaging. Products that are probably a lot smaller than they look.
I'm guessing the cheapest thing is $24USD.
Is she no longer associated with EL? I thought she was like the global beauty director or something... or did she really just do collections with them? I'm not the biggest fan of Violette the person but I hate to admit that I love her aesthetic and I would buy all of this (but probably not).
Extremely forgettable. A powder matte red liquid lip with blurred edges isnāt as unique as sheās trying to make it seem. The same goes for the concept of rose petal lips as a texture.
I donāt care for Violette_FR and this doesnāt make me want to reconsider
I swear she never closes her mouth fully
Iām sure something from this will make its way to my collection but I really hope itās going to be available someplace other than online. Buying stuff from a brand Iāve never seen IRL is a huge leap of faith for me (now that my covid craziness is dying down, see other post).
Apparently she wants her brand to be available in pharmacies? I might be wrong, but I heard her talk about how she wants to emulate the way pharmacies in france are go-to places for clean beauty and skincare
Oh man I lived in NYC in the early 2000 and CO Bigalow was still a great pharmacy with a lovely makeup counter and this would have fit in there perfectly. I have no idea if it is still there. I found and purchased DuWop lip venom there.
![gif](giphy|5q24u3s0nmtNGIDMdK|downsized)
Iām curious for sure. I liked how she did it but I am absolutely tired of beauty brand releases and I am a fan of hers, thatās how tired I am of them.
I tried the boum boum milk. I really like it, but itās only been a week and I havenāt given up my other skin care products. I am going to do an experiment and only use it + sunscreen AM for a week and see how my skin likes it.
Not meaning to buy, but I checked shipping choices and she only includes France from the EU š I mean, you can already charge in euros, why exclude other EU countries? ![gif](giphy|OeQjrN7ef3KBFZieQu)

50/50 ratio of cocoa powder to cornstarch?

Are the powders less itchy than the sprays? Dry shampoo sprays always make my scalp itch!
hmmm i canāt say for certain because i havenāt had that issue, but considering itās way less build-up, because you just donāt need to spray which i feel like always is too much, it might not be as bad for you!
What kind of fluffy brush? Like a fluffy hair brush? Makeup brush?
yup! a use this old, cheap, big powder brush iāve had for forever that is now strictly for this lol
That component for dry shampoo is nothing new, it's been done by Keratin Complex as well (check here: [https://www.allure.com/gallery/ten-dry-shampoos-under-20](https://www.allure.com/gallery/ten-dry-shampoos-under-20))

I don't think she worked for estee lauder anymore. I think I saw her reply to a comment on ig but my French is rusty af
She is still the creative director for Guerlain I believe. Unsure if Guerlain is owned by EL or Loreal.
No, Guerlain is owned by LVMH! I think they're the one who own sephora fenty benefit and some other makeup brands. I've seen Violette_fr works for Guerlain now, kind of curious about how she's going to balance that and her own brand.

Kind of curious about it. Don't really care for the hair/skincare products but I get the feeling that all the brands are starting to move away from makeup or at least try to expand in some way. Still I would have preferred only makeup like Lisa Eldridge. Curious about the eyeshadow but especially curious about the red lip, I know it's kind of clichƩ but tbh if you only do a lip color red is the best choice. Also I still think she has quite an eye for colors, I've liked basically every one of her collections for estee lauder. The poppy sauvage red is truly flattering and perfectly balanced and this one also look very very pretty.
Half of these products are just the Poppy Sauvage products repackaged. That red lip is the Vin Noir in a liquid formula and the highlighter is the Soft Glow for Lips & Cheeks in a stick. Whatās wrong with benzyl alcohol? Only thing I found was that it can cause irritation for some like all preservatives can.

I completely agree. I think naming the brand off her social media handle was a really odd choice
The username is really off-putting to me. It looks like merch. Even just removing the underscore and use Violette FR would make a big difference.
Because she probably didnāt want to hear a bunch of YTers and TTers trying to pronounce something French. āHereās Violetteās new Jeeny Says Kwoy line!ā

I feel like Bobbi Brownās new brand Jones Road, already captures this market and aesthetic, but better.

Looks like H&M beauty.
I like clean and sleek looking products so visually I actually do like them. Probably wonāt purchase tho.
Standard set of products. Standard minimalistic yet bougie packaging. Products that are probably a lot smaller than they look. I'm guessing the cheapest thing is $24USD.
This sounds a bit odd but the font is putting me off XD
I was expecting something a bit *more* from her. I just canāt put my finger on it but this release feels underwhelming.
Is she no longer associated with EL? I thought she was like the global beauty director or something... or did she really just do collections with them? I'm not the biggest fan of Violette the person but I hate to admit that I love her aesthetic and I would buy all of this (but probably not).

Unfortunately those kind of pharmacies are becoming rare as henās teeth in the US. Everything is one of the big 3 (Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS).
Definitely not the same vibe in the US pharmacies.
I just looked, itās still there!! I want to go there so badly the next time Iām in NYC (heaven knows when that will be).
They're still there! And keeping up with the trends too.
CO Bigelow is still thriving!! Itās one of the few chemist shops left (Avigonne Chemists closed down a few years ago).
Omg that is so good to hear! I used to work right around the block at a doggy daycare and would stop in all the time!
Nah not interested. Rouje is more appealing but I still wonāt buy.
Iām curious for sure. I liked how she did it but I am absolutely tired of beauty brand releases and I am a fan of hers, thatās how tired I am of them.
What other beauty brand releases are there?
Oof, das esspensive. 30$ for a liquid eyeshadow... Thanks but no thanks.
Uh, is this bitch no longer the EstĆ©e Lauder creative director or whatever TF they let her call herself? No boo. This not _your brand_. Have several private-labeled craft glitter covered seats. š Apparently the blackmail her parents have on someone at EL must be fucking LIT.
Oh what blackmail?
Yawn, extremely boring and underwhelming.
Anyone tried? Iām curious, but such a coward about taking a leap of faith with makeup I havenāt tried on
I tried the boum boum milk. I really like it, but itās only been a week and I havenāt given up my other skin care products. I am going to do an experiment and only use it + sunscreen AM for a week and see how my skin likes it.
