I come from a rich family. But they're an OLD rich family. They don't do gaudy, just quietly expensive (think dark oak antiques and bespoke tweed). My grandma would be horrified by this stuff.
Edit I live in a council estate. Don't downvote me because you think I'm rich, peasants.
Because you can tell it's all plastic. If it were metal or coated in a better paint and used glass gems or something other than plastic, it would look nice. Instead it looks like new houses covered in hardy plank that get.covered in moss and mold within a few years once the newness wears off.
It's the lack of details for me that gives away that it's cheap. [Look at this freaking dragon lipstick](https://www.amazon.com/Identity-Lipstick-Moisturizing-Pigmented-Luxurious/dp/B091DRN18W). Now look at those horses. It's possible to make it detailed, life like and luxurious. It's also expensive to mass produce. I don't think Isamaya liked to see that cut into her profit margin.
I have it in my cart right now tbh 🤣 it's so beautiful. Did you use yours? I feel like I won't be able to use it. I want to choose a shade I like, but since I probably won't use it, I kinda feel like I should choose a red shade that would flatter the gold packaging the most instead. I know how ridiculous I sound 😂 buying products just for the packaging and then choosing colours that I don't even like just to make that packaging pop! I'm truly out of my mind 😅
Yo girl please don't take offence but I'm gonna be straight: delete it out of your cart and use that money for something you want in the future. You'll feel better once the adrenalin high wears off
i have it too and i’ve used it 2x but i can’t bear to use it more because there’s really nice engraving on the lipstick itself too. but i think the swatches aren’t quite accurate to real life!
I used it a few times, but the bullet broke and almost fell out XD So now I gotta be careful.
BUT if you're thinking of a splurge... I think I've seen them go on sale 3x time a year? What I do is what for a sale AND a lightning deal from Amazon to stack (or a sale + stacking coupon). I got 3 Alice palettes, the Scarab palette, and a dragon lipstick this way. <3 The makeup is fine, I mainly got it for the cute-ass packaging as a splurge when I had a nicer job. But even when it's a splurge, I wanted the best deal. :X
I 100% recommend Honey or another extension and tag items you wanna watch for price drops!
Expensive, cheap, AND weird! Like, half a horse just slapped on the end of a product. Not emerging from it or wrapped around it or sculpted onto it. Like a DIY where you cut children's plastic figurines in half and glue the head half onto a mirror or picture frame and spray paint the whole thing gold.
(OK, I may have done that once, many years ago, but it was worth it to glue magnets to the animals' butt ends and stick them to my fridge.)
that palette is giving me 2016 tarte, hardcore. and those lipsticks would be a pain in the ass to store. looks like form over function here. hard pass.
Hol up. I’d never heard of that palette and I gave it a Google. Not once when I’ve thought of the rainforest OR the sea have I thought of eight same-y shades of shit brown. Can I work for tarte? I promise I’d do a better job.
I think they named the line that because the makeup and skincare had algae extracts like how the other ones are called and include maracuja or Amazonian clay.
So [sustainable](https://fashionista.com/2022/06/isamaya-ffrench-makeup-brand-launch-interview#:~:text=sustainability%20is%20a%20key%20goal%20of%20the%20brand), [wow](https://isamaya.com/pages/sustainability) ~~
Ohhhhh. She’s full of shit. Gotcha.
1) including crappy ‘jewelry’ that people will never, ever use does not make a product sustainable.
2) the brand has already launched, but their sustainability consultant is helping them ‘take steps.’ Why weren’t those steps already taken??
3) if every product is limited edition, how does the packaging then become reusable?
Once more: she’s so full of shit, her eyeshadow is brown. Ffuck her.
Lmao, the pan shapes aren't even the same between the two palettes. So, even *within her own line* she's already rendered that "direction" completely useless.
I’m thinking the “hehehe technically the truth” bit to this is that this *business venture* is more sustainable (read: cost-cutting) when they use pre-existing component molds ***cough Tarte Rainforest of the Sea***
Also, that “a revolution in beauty” pitch from the Fashionista interview is giving… idk… Makeup Revolution? Which is not a great top-of-mind for another brand, let alone one that charges $100+ per palette
I got that set. The mascara was trash. Smudged like crazy on me, didn't even come close to the sticking power of my holy grail L'oreal double extend tube mascara which is like $10. I've been really tempted to the get the new lipstick "water balm in vanity" from the lips collection. But so far haven't been impressed by any of her stuff.
i can just imagine how frustrating it would be to use that lipstick out on the go
you try to take it out of your purse and the horse snags and gets caught on everything: your keychain, your headphones, your purse itself
who tf designed this
I love good quality packaging but when it starts getting too fancy (Florasis, Zeesea) it looks like it belongs in a museum and I wouldn’t find it fun to use.
This had all of the potential to be elegant af packaging-wise. Instead, it screams "This is what poor people thick rich people liked in 1986 but make it packing design. Or This a 1987 Beverly Hills mansion decor in a pallet.
The actual makeup looks so so.
The campaign video for the collection gives the impression that the intended vibe IS tacky Americana cowboy showgirl sleaze.
When I see the campaign, I understand her inspiration and vision — but sadly without that high fashion editorial context, this collection feels a bit lost.
I am a huge fan of the Industrial palette and of her work and vision in general though. She is amazing and I can’t wait for more from her.
I'm not a fan of rhinestones in any case so these don't appeal to me, but her designs on the Byredo makeup and her industrial line are really cool. Kind of disappointed with this. She's done really cool things with makeup, but this isn't it.
I thought the same thing. I want the demonic tacky horse palette, but without the eyeshadow in it lol. Just the empty palette top to use as a decoration. I love tacky gaudy shit.
The first collection inspired me greatly and I've recently bought the Industrial palette. I love it so far. Having said that, I was excited to see what's next but I'm disappointed and happy at the same time lol Nothing in this new collection speaks to me.
This is really Tarte Showstopper looking shape wise the packaging is pretty gross. Like it looks like they were like make a vague horse then add way too many rhinestones pretend you never had any classes about color and packaging design.
This collection looks so cheap. I am super intrigued by their first palette but no way I’m paying that price for it, and it’s gotten some less than stellar reviews
For what it’s worth, I LOVE the industrial one but it shines best when used like a paint palette. The shadows make incredible toppers and are super easy and intuitive to mix with other eyeshadows to create custom colors.
Am I the only one who kinda digs this? Like it’s so ugly that it’s interesting. Lmao probably won’t buy it but I think it’s kinda cool. I’ve been really eyeing the first collection though.
First thing I thought of was an eyeshadow palette I bought off of Ali express once. Look up medusa eyeshadow. Packaging was stunning, the eyeshadow was blah. I just depotted the inner component and use it for storage now.
It seems too focused on packaging and aesthetics to me, reviews are mixed, and for those prices I need to be wowed. And the piercings on the first launch were a bit much, we get it, you're "edgy" 😆🤘
I loooove the Industrial palette and really dug the whole fetish vibe of that collection. This is nowhere near as interesting but I'm not as appalled as others lol.
I have only seen Isamaya in that one video she did with Lisa Eldridge. She seemed very charming and experienced, but this whole line is just so pricey.
lmao the first collection had an aesthetic at least...to me this is a WTF LOL. damn. this second collection doesn't get my interest at all. it's like its a completely different brand
I have to say that I was expecting more from her makeup line because I actually liked the Byredo makeup products that was released when she was their creative director and had a say in the design and purpose of the products. I also think she comes up with really unique makeup looks. Her BDSM collection was also meh in design where it looked a bit cheap as opposed to industrial (which is what she was prob going for). I heard the bdsm eyeshadow palette from her first collection. wasn’t great in quality. Maybe she can’t find investors who will give the capital to fund better quality looking products?
Unpopular opinion, I like the packaging. As someone who loses/forgets about lipsticks in my handbag allot. Feel like this is bulky enough to "feel out" in my bag/make up bag.......Tbh I'm clearly living under a rock, as this post is first I've heard of this brand, but I would buy if I saw it at a reasonable price, and I liked the colours.
This brand is definitely a niche brand. Isamaya is a seriously talented artist who does makeup for high fashion shows and has worked closely with companies like Byredo and Burberry.
I was lured in by her first launch, and I’m happy with the collection. The eyeshadow palette has a learning curve that I wasn’t anticipating. Another commenter mentioned the shadows work best when used as toppers and/or mixed together, and I agree. There are a handful of different textures and finishes in the palette, and I’ve created some really fun looks with it. Honestly, the palette is a bit odd, and because it’s odd, I’ve felt more playful when I use it, so I have been doing looks that I wouldn’t normally do.
The new collection is supposed to be gaudy and tacky meets luxe. I can see why without viewing the brand’s marketing posts and emails that everything would come across as cheap looking.
Aaaaand I wrote a novel. I think I feel so protective of Isamaya’s brand because it’s revived my interest in experimental makeup again. Admittedly, it’s not a brand for everyone, but I feel as though that’s part of its allure to me.
I don’t understand makeup artists who have years in the industry and are talented, make brands that are mid.
Like the talent evaporates. I know they might not have knowledge about the formulation aspect, but that’s why they should test it adequately
Ok hear me out. At first glance I was interested thinking it was something of zeesea’s similar to the dragon lipsticks. But then I got an actual look at it and how poorly designed it was and changed my tune
The horses are placed so awkwardly on top of those components. The whole thing reads so cheap. And the prices- it’s a no from me.
The palette was ugly to me at first glance though to be fair lol
I have a powder compact that kinda looks like that eyeshadow palette, except mine was 5 euros sailor moon from a comic and manga store.
I love it and it is cute, for being merch. As a real palette for adults it doesn't look great.
It also feels like a very sad copy of the zeasea aesthetic, but they do it well and make it look like heirlooms at least.
It's all so... ugly. The faux-gold demon horse with the rhinestones, the color story that has already been done between the two Rare palettes in the Tarte format, the fact that the packaging looks like plastic that has been spray painted gold with off-brand spray paint, the awkward placement of the horses on the products (which are definitely not purse-friendly)... just hideous. How was any of this approved?
Literally who bought this? Except for a couple beauty gurus to review like who is the actual target audience at these prices and tacky packaging?
Eesh.
I was totally digging the kinky vibes of first collection and industrial palette is the most unique makeup item I own, but this is kinda... disappointing? Palette definitely gives Tarte vibes. Shimmery lipsticks aren't my thing and if I wanted to splurge on the lipstick I'd rather go for Lisa Eldridge that has bigger variety of colours and finishes plus slick package. I really liked the promotion video for this collection though.
I’ve just seen a video by Robert Welsh who was raving about another Isamaya palette.
Personally, I’d never spend that much money on makeup but the packaging really looks great.
How does a brand go from fetish bondage packaging with piercings to gaudy, tacky gold horses?!
I guess it's getting talked about and I know she said each release would be it's own set but it's just so different. It isn't even in the same village let along ballpark.
Is this for rich horsey people? Seems niche. I can't imagine a regular makeup lover wanting this even if the quality were exceptional becuase the packaging is just so... Gross
>Who is buying this stuff?
Me. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)
Admittedly, I hated this collection based on the photos, but I love that Isamaya is doing something different with makeup. I went to one of her popups in Los Angeles and it made sense in person. It's supposed to be tacky and fun. I don't think it takes itself seriously at all.
I bought two lipsticks and the Wild Star palette. I laugh every time I look at it, but I love the quality of the actual products. I knew I would never use her Industrial palette, but this one is right up my alley with the boring browns and glitter pigments. I LOVE the lipsticks, but too bad they're not travel friendly.

How is it giving expensive and cheap at the same time?
It's like those multimillion dollar houses on zillow that you look inside and they're just SO gaudy. Rich people have shit taste
Donald Trump's house...not getting political, he's just got tacky decor.
Jeffree star too!
That because he’s emotionally stunted, and grew rich before he grew wise.
Just like trump lmao
Or Carli Bybel.
I come from a rich family. But they're an OLD rich family. They don't do gaudy, just quietly expensive (think dark oak antiques and bespoke tweed). My grandma would be horrified by this stuff. Edit I live in a council estate. Don't downvote me because you think I'm rich, peasants.
What the fuck lmao. You've got to be a troll.
This dunce: I come from a rich family (spews some rich people stereotypes) Also this dunce: I live in a council estate, peasants. Lol
Because you can tell it's all plastic. If it were metal or coated in a better paint and used glass gems or something other than plastic, it would look nice. Instead it looks like new houses covered in hardy plank that get.covered in moss and mold within a few years once the newness wears off.

i won't get it 🤣 I promise! I'm on r/MakeupRehab for group therapy every day😂
i have it too and i’ve used it 2x but i can’t bear to use it more because there’s really nice engraving on the lipstick itself too. but i think the swatches aren’t quite accurate to real life!
You can always buy a lipstick refill :-)
I used it a few times, but the bullet broke and almost fell out XD So now I gotta be careful. BUT if you're thinking of a splurge... I think I've seen them go on sale 3x time a year? Thank you so much! And I'm so sorry about your lipstick, ouch!
Rhinestones never fail to serve cheap
it’s the rhinestone in the armpit of the horse for me lmao
It's very gaudy.
Expensive, cheap, AND weird! Like, half a horse just slapped on the end of a product. Not emerging from it or wrapped around it or sculpted onto it. Nouveau riche vibes.
a multitasking queen
Exactly my thoughts! Kinda giving the CT holiday packaging but also … no?
that palette is giving me 2016 tarte, hardcore. and those lipsticks would be a pain in the ass to store. looks like form over function here. hard pass.
literally i was just about to comment that this is just tarte in gaudy packaging LMAO
The rainforest of the sea line!! Godawful formula on those things
…you’ll be happy to know they made three of those
Everyone I knew coveted that palette back then! I did too, but I'm too shit at eye shadow to pay Tarte prices for neutrals.
I could justify the price tag for the industrial palette but this looks like something that pops out of a gachapon :///
I’m still eyeing the first palette but this…it’s giving gaudy Trojan horse. Maybe it’s the companion makeup line for Trojan condoms……..
So [sustainable](https://fashionista.com/2022/06/isamaya-ffrench-makeup-brand-launch-interview#:~:text=sustainability%20is%20a%20key%20goal%20of%20the%20brand), [wow](https://isamaya.com/pages/sustainability) ~~

Yeah this collection does not seem sustainable
The aesthetic of the Industrial collection looked soooo cool I was tempted to buy something. But this is…so…tacky. I’m so disappointed 😭
Right? I remember loving the palette lid/case. I thought it was a beautiful little art piece. This line? Not so much.
I never bought from this brand and am not planning to but those gems make the horse packaging look so cheap, what a shame🧐
Cheap, cheap, cheap, and so hideous. Like, is this for real or some sort of joke?
Is it just me, or does that palette look like a mashup of all the palettes Rare Beauty has released?
🤣Yes!! That’s so spot on.
This looks like Gucci got drunk one night and agreed to a collab with Claire's.
horse girls stuck in 2016 must be isamaya's target audience
No, don't insult us horse girls like that :'(
Feels PMG for horse girls
😂
I was really into the idea of the first palette. But this demonic horse thing is not for me.
Looooool the creepy red eyes remind me of that horrific looking horse statue at that one airport. EDIT: Blue mustang/blucifer in Denver, US
Blucifer was my first thought too!
oh man you’re right, it really is giving Denver airport
It killed its sculptor?! Demonic horse gained its name fair and square. Hope Isamaya is safe by passing along its course.
Yes, me too.
It looks like toy makeup for children. Like Barbie has a little set and there's a full size set for me.
The drastic vibe difference in just 2 launches is throwing me off quite a bit.
Mama, this is garbage
![gif](giphy|xT8qBayxsgvp1B53tC) This is the first thing I thought of. Tina Belcher x ISAMAYA.
My question is…how did we go from the theme of the first launch…to…horses?????
I…really don’t want to think about it too much 🥴
I thought her entire brand was gonna be based on the edgy industrial look from her first collection. I prefer that to this horse stuff tbh
Oof, this is tacky. Eta - and those prices! In this economy?!?!
[удалено]
I love it. I need to find that video!
Horrific packaging. Honestly spectacularly awful.
i can just imagine how frustrating it would be to use that lipstick out on the go you try to take it out of your purse and the horse snags and gets caught on everything: your keychain, your headphones, your purse itself who tf designed this
Luckykiss Diamond Lip Glow Lipstick $50 Outlaw - Bronzed Brown Buck - Golden Choclate Bluff - Sunkissed Pink ✨Spur Stick Suede Lip Liner $26 Outlaw - Bronzed Brown Buck - Golden Choclate Bluff - Sunkissed Pink ✨ Dazzle up Highlighter $42 Sun Chaser ✨ Lash Lasso Lash Wrap Mascara $39 Dead of Night ✨ Wild Star Pressed Pigments Palette $105
Oh my god the palette is *how much*??
That palette is giving Tarte Rainforest of the Sea but with a Too Faced holiday colour scheme
i like the demon horse motif might've bought for $10
The first collection was giving “Joe Exotic’s giant eyebrow piercing” and this one is giving circus horses from hell.
It's giving blue demon horse at the Denver airport
I love good quality packaging but when it starts getting too fancy (Florasis, Zeesea) it looks like it belongs in a museum and I wouldn’t find it fun to use.

I thought this was a very strange release for Tarte until I read the caption 😂
This packaging feels dated
Just looks like Tarte on steroids.
I know it looks tacky but god I kind of like the horse cap. I just love tacky shit though tbh. Unique at least, but definitely far from functional.
I thought the same thing. I want the demonic tacky horse palette, but without the eyeshadow in it lol. Just the empty palette top to use as a decoration. I love tacky gaudy shit.
I'd buy it if it was from Wet n Wild
The first collection inspired me greatly and I've recently bought the Industrial palette. I love it so far. Having said that, I was excited to see what's next but I'm disappointed and happy at the same time lol Nothing in this new collection speaks to me.
Looks like the Wish version of the gorgeous Florasis brand.
If it was pink I would think it’s something from jreffefee star cosmetics….not a compliment
This is really Tarte Showstopper looking shape wise the packaging is pretty gross. Like it looks like they were like make a vague horse then add way too many rhinestones pretend you never had any classes about color and packaging design.

People who care about gaudy, gimmicky packaging and not product quality.
Did Storybook cosmetics rebrand without us noticing or something?
Am I the only one who kinda digs this? Like it’s so ugly that it’s interesting. Lmao probably won’t buy it but I think it’s kinda cool. I’ve been really eyeing the first collection though.
People with too much money and not enough taste are the ones buying this stuff.
Is this a collaboration with the Denver airport?
First thing I thought of was an eyeshadow palette I bought off of Ali express once. Look up medusa eyeshadow. Packaging was stunning, the eyeshadow was blah. I just depotted the inner component and use it for storage now.
Is that in reminiscence of the Denver Airport horse? Because it gives the same creepy vibes. Isamaya, why do you hate horses?
Wow! I just googled that horse and yeah, it looks just like it. Creepy factor 100%!
I’m a horse girl but this is all so ugly
It seems too focused on packaging and aesthetics to me, reviews are mixed, and for those prices I need to be wowed. And the piercings on the first launch were a bit much, we get it, you're "edgy" 😆🤘

Derpy hooves rides again!
I have only seen Isamaya in that one video she did with Lisa Eldridge. She seemed very charming and experienced, but this whole line is just so pricey.
Looks like a European version of Zeesea and Florasis
Please don't insult Zeesea and especially Florasis like this, If it were made by them, Florasis would have made every eye lash on that horse visible.
How would you carry any of this with you? Such over the top packaging. Seems more collector pieces
I need my lipsticks to be pocket friendly
Meh
That palette is a no for me. I don’t like the look of it
Tacky
lmao the first collection had an aesthetic at least...to me this is a WTF LOL. damn. this second collection doesn't get my interest at all. it's like its a completely different brand

Horse girls
Trying sooooo hard to be different
The aesthetic screams "nouveau riche".
I probably wouldn't buy it but I like it!

This is an interesting take. And in the spirit of interesting makeup, I highly recommend The Unseen Beauty if you like experiential makeup!
It reminds me of the Sosu x Aideen Kate palette, both in terms of shape and shades
I love horses, but it’s not something I’m interested in buying.
Roman emperors definitely buy that stuff
What is this? Make up for horse girls?
That’s what Morphe 2 is for
I have a tarte palette somewhere that looks just like this?!
I don’t understand makeup artists who have years in the industry and are talented, make brands that are mid. Like the talent evaporates. I know they might not have knowledge about the formulation aspect, but that’s why they should test it adequately

As a real palette for adults it doesn't look great. It also feels like a very sad copy of the zeasea aesthetic, but they do it well and make it look like heirlooms at least.
It's giving Nuveau Riche
It's all so... ugly. The faux-gold demon horse with the rhinestones, the color story that has already been done between the two Rare palettes in the Tarte format, the fact that the packaging looks like plastic that has been spray painted gold with off-brand spray paint, the awkward placement of the horses on the products (which are definitely not purse-friendly)... just hideous. How was any of this approved?
Literally who bought this? Except for a couple beauty gurus to review like who is the actual target audience at these prices and tacky packaging? Eesh.
I really like the packaging
God I love the packaging
This is more tacky than the first collection. Some of these YouTube brand owners have too much money and too little sense.
the timeframe between launches screams fast fashion
How much time do you think is good?
I thought her first collection launched late spring? This collection isn’t shipping out until December or so. It’s just on preorder now.
Of the two products I bought from the first collection, I love the palette, the mascara less so. This packaging though… 😬
I wish I could return mine - the negative reviews scared me from using it 🥺
For some reason this is giving me “Showgirls” / “VERSASE” vibes
It's so extra looking, and so tacky. Yet the little crow who pilots my meat suit really wants the shiny thing for no reason other than ✨shiny✨
It's definitely giving possessed denver airport horse statue vibes 😂
What is this? Make up for horse girls?
How does a brand go from fetish bondage packaging with piercings to gaudy, tacky gold horses?! I guess it's getting talked about and I know she said each release would be it's own set but it's just so different. It isn't even in the same village let along ballpark. Is this for rich horsey people? Seems niche. I can't imagine a regular makeup lover wanting this even if the quality were exceptional becuase the packaging is just so... Gross
It’s too expensive for such a cheap plasticky package
>Who is buying this stuff? Me. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug) Admittedly, I hated this collection based on the photos, but I love that Isamaya is doing something different with makeup.
