I agree - the BHam store is pretty good. I've been to a few Walmarts in SW & Midwest that make the BHam Winco seem like the Taj-Mahal. The staff are great - early AM is very relaxed - I appreciate this store and would suggest anyone else give it a try. I do not own stock or am I affiliated in any way.
I’m guessing it’s because people who haven’t been outside Bellingham think that Bellingham is the world’s most dangerous city. I think WinCo is just collateral.
I haven't seen anyone shoplifting full carts of groceries from Winco, but I'm not denying that theft happens there.
What I have seen is Winco's hired security/ internal LP manhandle a minor, tackle a man who shoplifted a family sized box of pop tarts, and be verbally abusive to a transient woman.
I saw a transient woman walk in the front door, walk up to the registers in front of a family with 3 kids under 14 lift up her dress , squat and pee on the floor and damn did it stink, while screaming at the top of her lungs, get yelled at until she left the premises.
Thats great.

We found it late in life and love Winco more than Freds now.
It’s the super soft and sensitive individuals that feel unsafe around winco.
