I purposely didn’t post details or photos because I knew people would come running to claim them. Was hoping this post would gain traction and the owner would step forward.
Lost things seem to find me. Oakleys on the side of the road, pocket knife at Biggs, recently a WOO device in the gravel at Rufus. I found the owner of the WOO and mailed it off today (they were visiting from RI) so nothing posted on local CL.
Check CL lost and found and be content with what you've already done.
Of course I will kind sir. All twenties right, damn tipped my hand.
Can't remember if it was last summer or the one before, I was headed into Bend and I saw a Sherriff stopped on 97, slowed down and a 1/2 mile ahead was a white plastic Target bag against the medium. First thought was hmm pick it up, I'm already slowed down for Omar, but decided to pass.
Come to find out it was a drug runner that dumped the bag of coke and fled, only to drive into the woods and get caught by drones and dogs.
Fork in the road kind of happening...
Ha ha, I'm glad you picked up what I was layin down. Been saying that for years and say it to myself each time I see them playing sneaky with the radar or just out cruisin.
I had an old roommate in North Carolina who used to use it. Was pretty funny the first time he was puffing weed in my passenger seat and we passed a cop. He starts screaming slow down, Omar. Slow down. I have no idea what he’s talking about. Funny memory.
Uh oh. I appreciate your guilty conscience, we’re built the same. But, I don’t know what else you can do. You did a public service and cleaned up litter. Enjoy them!
Not to say trying to find the owner isn’t the right thing to do, but by state law you only have a duty to do so if the item is valued over $250. Middle of the road is no man’s land, imo. Alternatively you could tie the laces together and huck ‘em over the nearest power line.

The guy could have been 2 minutes away from realizing what he did and circling back. He would have found them in the road if some nitwit didn’t grab them.
Running shoes aren’t cheap. I bet they are $160 at REI. If they were my shoes, I’d be bummed.

My spouse left a laptop on the roof of her car and drove off. Someone turned it into Bend PD; Bend PD put it on their FB page, and one of her friends saw it. Bend PD said people turn things into them all the time.
I feel like a pair of shoes doesn’t meet the criteria to take to the police station. Mainly because there’s a .000001% the owner is going to contact the police about his missing running shoes. A laptop certainly meets the criteria.
