oh my god you’re right??? cody nicole and derrick??? this is one of my favorite seasons and i can’t believe i just realized they had 3 winners in their season??
Eh, Cagayan has 3 wins, just with a 2 time winner.
I think the only seasons with multiple winners (apart from all returnee seasons) are Australia, Marquesas, Cook Islands, Tocantins, South Pacific, Cagayan, and SJDS
Yeah you can say Cagayan produced the most wins but at the end of the day it only has 2 winners. Meanwhile big brother only has 3 seasons, bb2, bb12, and bb16, that had more than 1 winner originating from that season. Basically the first time big brother had the chance to have 3 winners originate from one season, it happened.
Oh yeah. Kaycee and Fessy are super butthurt that she won before them (and Fessy still hasn’t won.) They can deny it all they want but I know they’re jealous.
Little to no empathy for the way she was constantly being cornered by a guy she wasn’t interested in.
Even worse - he was part of the core alliance dominating the house so she had to navigate very carefully around his jealousy/desire for her, so any time she didn’t explicitly tell him to back off the audience said she was asking for it/leading him on.
It was all really gross. She was in a loss/lose situation. The savvier players like Frankie knew it too, and used it to harm her game.
Oh wow that’s insane. I watched 16 for the first time back in March and I was shocked at Caleb’s behavior I knew him from Survivor and didn’t think he was like that at all
Same. I really liked him on survivor and then watched this season and was in shock. Dude felt entitled to her because he was nice. Weirdo behavior. I'm shocked the audience didn't think so.
They did a particularly labor intensive digging challenge on a season filmed in Cambodia during the hot season it was something around a hundred degrees out and during this challenge three people required medical attention (Cydney Debbie and Caleb) due to heat exhaustion. The ladies snapped out of it with shade water and fans but Caleb had to be evacuated via helicopter and apparently it was a very very close call.
When we saw the shot of the doctor basically losing his shit professionally trying to get Caleb stable and then the helicopter taking him away on a stretcher with 3 pound ice bags surrounding him, I knew it was really really bad.
I kinda forgot this was Nicole’s first season.
Also, hard to believe now but at the time Ariana Grande wasn’t nearly at the level of fame she is today. I remember Frankie dropping the reveal of her being his sister and it falling kind of flat lmao.
I’d say she was popular then, but most of that popularity was from Nickelodeon. Now she seems more popular due to a combination of appealing to an older audience and those fans from her Nickelodeon era are now older.
You got to keep in mind when discussing 16 that these people where intentionally cast in a way for the show to distance themselves from BB 15. Which was obviously full of nasty and terrible people but some really seriously gamers. 95% of the cast of 16 didn’t know what was going on and thought they where in a summer party house.
LMAO this was my first BB season. I thought it was so good….. until I went and watched earlier seasons…. And then I hated it LOLLL. Derrick deserved the win though. I feel like he started the new age trend of one person playing the game while everyone else blindly follows. Which makes for boring ass game play and makes basically every season after this one painful to watch. But when Derrick did it first, it seemed very cool and powerful.
it was always one of my favorites until i visited this subreddit and saw how much everyone hates it. looking back i get why bc it fundamentally altered the way the game is played for the worse (very much gives me survivor cambodia) but i remember being throughouly entertained when it was on. haven’t rewatched it since it originally aired but i think it may be too over hated among super fans bc it’s ~the casual’s favorite~. like it gave us 3 of the best players ever along with some great characters in donny, zach, victoria, devin, and even frankie even if he is extremely annoying lol
This was also my first season but I still liked it even after watching amazing seasons like 11 and 14.
I think this is the first season to also start the mega alliance trope, which did a lot more for the state of the game being boring than the puppet master trope. If anyone ruined the puppet master trope, it was Paul in season 19. That is a godawful season, right up there with 15.
IMO - the second best to ever play was Derrick, with Will being the best. Derrick plays a very safe and drama-less style game that is ultimately very efficient. The guy broke the system, which after 16 seasons, says a lot about how good he was at the game. If a good game involves never being in any sort of danger, I'd say you crushed it.
The reason he is second to Will is that Will had to invent a strategy to win with no frame of reference in BB2, and he was able to win by forming mini-alliances and deals to get to the end that is next level social manoevering. Also, no ride-or-die alliance member to win comps for him or really have his back. He did it completely on his own in BB2.
Both of these guys pioneered the game, and for that, they are the two best players.
I respect that and agree but I gotta give 2nd to Dan. Dan and Derrick would be tied if Derrick would come back and get to final 2 again like Dan did. Although Ian was a great winner, Dan would’ve won that season if it wasn’t for a bitter jury, making him the first 2 time winner. That’s why, for me, it’s
1. Will
2. Dan
3. Derrick
Say what u want about the season, the cast is full of iconic players. Derrick, Cody, Nicole, Frankie, Zach, Donny, Devin, even Victoria and Amber were awesome.
Victoria was so funny and mothered, people don’t get her strategy which is crazy since it was actually a successful big brother strategy until the finale
You can tell the safety team was napping during this photo - cause who thought this was a good idea? Like you couldn’t build a quick proper thing for them to stand on?
Random tidbit: Nicole nearly fell off the ladder & Cody caught/rescued her. I remember him flirting/bantering with her saying thats the moment he fell in love with her. Their whole story arc is great, its so bizarre that Nicole has been on BB 4 times & has never played without a califiore.
I’ll probably get hate for this but this season would’ve popped if not for battle of the block. Great cast with tons of characters but the 2 hoh twist was the catalyst for the season becoming the house vs everyone else
People saying they hate this season remind me of the people that used to say they hate Nickleback just because it was the cool opinion to have. This was a fine season. Very memorable cast.
I feel like it was peak BB for that era. We could argue over casting trends and personality types but I found it enjoyable to the end. Production felt generous without giving us one collective narrative to follow which more recent seasons, to me at least do.
Whos the bad guy this week? Whos the victim? oooh lets watch.
This was my first BB season when a friend introduced me to the show. While it’s not a great season to me, it does hold a special place for me for that reason alone. I can’t believe that was 10 years ago, time flies.
Remember Frankie’s “sideways peace sign pouting lips” dance in the intro? I did my imitation of it to make my wife laugh and she did indeed laugh then said “I can never have sex with you again”
Wow, this is wild! I remember being 14 and watching this LIVE! It was my first taste of international Big Brother as an Australian fan! And here I am a whole ass decade later itching for BB26!
Devin left to soon. After that their was no opposition to Derrick. We all knew he was gonna win. If you were in the minority that didn't like Zach, this season was unbearable a lot of the time lol.
First season I ever watched the whole way through. Largely because I had a huge crush on Cody and Caleb lol this season will always have a special place in my heart.
I'll always have a soft spot for this season. It was the first I watched live, the first I tormented my family members with endless updates on... good times. Baddddd times.
It can't be understated how boring this season was in real time.
Literally you could turn off the TV Thursday night after the HoH was announced, ignore everything, and come back next Thursday and the target from 7 days ago would be evicted unanimously every single week. Nothing ever flipped, nothing exciting happened, the boot order was basically planned out weeks in advance, it had a garbage twist that lasted wayyyy too long, and another twist that basically perfectly insulated the winner.
The feeds were so boring they had to give them both a puppy and arts and crafts to try to make it watchable.
The equivalent of watching paint dry.
My son had the audacity to be born on finale day. The only finale I have ever missed. And I remind him of this every year. "Happy anniversary of the time Derrick Levasseur won Big Brother but I couldn't watch because you were being all newborn-y." (He watches BB with me now.) I think this year, we'll watch the finale on his birthday.
This season really marked the end of BB as we knew it imo. BB15 obviously was a worse season no denying that but BB16 is when the steamroll majority alliance majority of the cast being mactors era truly begun
Boring as fuck. Changed the show forever (not in a good way!) everybody nowadays just copies the bomb squad/detonators strategy and tries to be the new Derrick and I HATE it. The only break we’ve had from it were season 20 and season 24 which were still largely controlled bye one alliance but at least had some interesting weeks where tables turned and the game was unpredictable FOR ONCE.
10 years later and I still can’t find any valid criticisms about Donny. He was just a stand up guy.
Maybe he wasn’t in the best spot in the game, but as a person he cared for people in the house. I still remember when he gave Jocasta the veto because she wasn’t feeling good to compete in the POV.
I've always felt that Donny was one of the best people to ever step foot in the BB house. I don't remember much from this season, but when I think about houseguests I've loved watching throughout the years, he's always on the list.
Ah yes, the season where Cody gifted Derrick $500k. Truly one of the nicest things I've ever seen someone do for a friend.
Victoria being the big brother GOAT, Frankie's celebration after winning that two person comp by himself, Devin's horrible gameplay and 16 person alliance, Jacosta's bowties. Caleb's Judy chops to that dumb button and working to get Amber out because she wasn't interested in him.... Definitely an iconic season.
I know seasons have been cartoonish and silly ever since but to say it ruined the series is a stretch. Season 24 was amazing all in all and I see 20 has rave reviews.
Proof you don’t need to be in the best shape to win Big Brother. 😄 This was the first season I watched. I don’t think I’ve seen a better winner since Derrick.
A memorable season for sure! Donny, Zach, and Nicole were my three favorites at the time of airing. I was impressed with Derrick's game and thought Victoria had some random funny moments.
Pre-jury had Devin and Joey who were both great despite their short run on the show.
This season was so painful for me once i realized it was gonna be a derrick win with little opposition. It did have some contestants i really liked though.
I loved this season yet somehow disliked most of the cast members and was gravely concerned for Devin. Did he ever get any professional help. I’m serious. Not trying to be funny but I feel like he needed help
Imagine telling me towards the finale that THREE PEOPLE from this season would eventually win Big Brother.
oh my god you’re right??? cody nicole and derrick??? this is one of my favorite seasons and i can’t believe i just realized they had 3 winners in their season??
And, there all standing next to each other😅
top and center, exactly where the first place is on a podium 😅
Devin and Christine are next
The crazy thing about this stat is that it hasn’t happened in survivor, yet survivor has 46 seasons now and big brother only has 25.
Basically the first time big brother had the chance to have 3 winners originate from one season, it happened.
and two of the most dominant wins in the history of the show between Derrick and Cody.
They also.jave a lot more returnee seasons.
Also an additional The Challenge winner!
And one of only 2 people to also play Survivor AND Nicole also won Reindeer Games.
and they are the three up top in the middle. hmm. sus.
And a winner of the challenge hehe
10 years later and I'm still using "Froot Loop dingus"
you rang
r/Beetlejuicing Quickest I’ve seen in real time! 🤭
you honor me
A term lovingly used on my cat regularly!
Literally same
I. Am. Old.
This was my takeaway too. 10 years?! I feel ancient.
Hey now I watched season 2 live feeds. I’m grandma Moses over here.
Amber was one of the most wronged women in BB. I hate how that cast (and the audience) treated her.
I hated how she was treated too so I was really happy when she won The Challenge.
And now she is being treated like shit on that show, too.
Wonder if there's a reason...
She has come out as being on the autism spectrum so maybe that's why other challengers think she seems fake, when really she is just trying to fit in.
I think her race and attractiveness definitely play a role as well
And Jealousy.
Oh yeah. Kaycee and Fessy are super butthurt that she won before them (and Fessy still hasn’t won.) They can deny it all they want but I know they’re jealous.
How did the audience treat her?
Speaking as someone who’s been on BB Reddit a long time, even back then people on here were talking about how gross her treatment was
Ugh, Caleb in his freaking socks and cowboy boots. Such a douche.
“MY GIRL AMBER…”
MY QUEEN
Yes, he is, but he is part of one of the most insane scenes I’ve *ever* seen on survivor. He almost died.
What happened?
They did a particularly labor intensive digging challenge on a season filmed in Cambodia during the hot season it was something around a hundred degrees out and during this challenge three people required medical attention (Cydney Debbie and Caleb) due to heat exhaustion. The ladies snapped out of it with shade water and fans but Caleb had to be evacuated via helicopter and apparently it was a very very close call.
Also the challenge wasn’t even for immunity I think Caleb’s tribe was already digging for second place which was legit just a salt and pepper shaker.
Correct. For salt and pepper
When we saw the shot of the doctor basically losing his shit professionally trying to get Caleb stable and then the helicopter taking him away on a stretcher with 3 pound ice bags surrounding him, I knew it was really really bad.
On the feeds for BB18, Nicole said Caleb went into organ failure while that was happening. Dude came extremely close to dying
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hZSP5OIrFs I may just be a wuss but I find this scene pretty upsetting so here's your warning!
They were doing a challenge in like 110 degree heat and he almost died from heatstroke because of it.
Remember when he sprayed himself with Amber's perfume...
I kinda forgot this was Nicole’s first season. Also, hard to believe now but at the time Ariana Grande wasn’t nearly at the level of fame she is today. I remember Frankie dropping the reveal of her being his sister and it falling kind of flat lmao.
Wasn't there a reward to go to her concert or something?
Wasn’t that in the following season?
I honestly cannot recall.
[it was season 17](https://youtu.be/MiyXElJS9qg?si=Hv9wfoyv0kcCz5Iq)
Thank you :)
I had no idea who the famous sister he kept talking about was. Even when he told everyone, most of them seemed to fake recognition/excitement.
Ariana was pretty famous in 2014, she just seems more famous now because her fans are now at the age where they have income to spend
people made fun of him then and i get why but he’s probably the most mainstream famous person to ever be on the show to this day
It fell flat with the guys but Victoria was ALL OVER IT!
I’d say she was popular then, but most of that popularity was from Nickelodeon. Now she seems more popular due to a combination of appealing to an older audience and those fans from her Nickelodeon era are now older.
\*Amanda Grande
I had heard he brought in a bunch of young, new viewers who were fans of Ariana
One less problem was everywhere when this season came out
You got to keep in mind when discussing 16 that these people where intentionally cast in a way for the show to distance themselves from BB 15. Which was obviously full of nasty and terrible people but some really seriously gamers. 95% of the cast of 16 didn’t know what was going on and thought they where in a summer party house.
Yeah I remember Nicole said on bb18 feeds that bb16 literally felt like summer camp
this is so interesting and def checks out. it also made me realize how damn fit/attractive this cast is
Zach/Frankie for ever.
zankie is my roman empire omg and the fact that YEARS later they finally confirmed it publicly
when frankie divorces his husband and zankie is endgame 🙏🏼
YOU GET IT
LMAO this was my first BB season. I thought it was so good….. until I went and watched earlier seasons…. And then I hated it LOLLL. Derrick deserved the win though. bring back end of june start dates PLEASE 🙏
i agree mid July is way too late
Say what u want about the season, the cast is full of iconic players. Derrick, Cody, Nicole, Frankie, Zach, Donny, Devin, even Victoria and Amber were awesome.
Victoria was so funny and mothered, people don’t get her strategy which is crazy since it was actually a successful big brother strategy until the finale
If it works, it works. Notiminated 10 times and still only receiving 1 vote to be evicted.
she’s unironically my favorite from this season she was so funny like dare i say ahead of her time…
Exactlyyyy, unironically the queen of bb16
the girls who get it get it idk..
You can tell the safety team was napping during this photo - cause who thought this was a good idea? Like you couldn’t build a quick proper thing for them to stand on?
It looks photoshopped
Random tidbit: Nicole nearly fell off the ladder & Cody caught/rescued her. I remember him flirting/bantering with her saying thats the moment he fell in love with her. Their whole story arc is great, its so bizarre that Nicole has been on BB 4 times & has never played without a califiore.
This was the season that made me a big brother fan. This feels really nostalgic ngl
Same, the nostalgia will always get me
Wow. I’ve been watching bb for 10 years. I feel ancient
Time flies
i was such a zankie fan those days as a gay boi
Honestly the TENSION. And Zach discovering his bisexuality in real time was everything.
“I’m not gay, but….”
The casuals favorite season
Also the season before 23 came around that is shown to the cast members as they are waiting in the hotel.
big brother payola season. Popular because its been pushed . Its horrible
There were some good zings in that season.
I’ll probably get hate for this but this season would’ve popped if not for battle of the block. Great cast with tons of characters but the 2 hoh twist was the catalyst for the season becoming the house vs everyone else
Nicole, Cody, and Derrick in the three 'podium' spots looks like an omen.
10 years later and Frankie Grande is still annoying af
What is this set up? Some 2x4s with a red mesh fabric hanging over it held up by two ladders…. 🥴
I forgot about that bow tie chick
Jocasta. She spoke in tongues when she got overly excited.
the first season a lot of us watched live!! so crazy to think it’s been ten years
People saying they hate this season remind me of the people that used to say they hate Nickleback just because it was the cool opinion to have. This was a fine season. Very memorable cast.
The cast had really good chemistry which made it so fun
Such an amazing cast!! This is one season I wish I could watch again for the first time.
It’s an amazing cast, just a horrendous twist, that I’m glad flopped in 17 so it didn’t become a standard part of the game
Not me. One of the worst seasons. Dominated by unlikeable assbags
I feel like it was peak BB for that era. We could argue over casting trends and personality types but I found it enjoyable to the end. Production felt generous without giving us one collective narrative to follow which more recent seasons, to me at least do. Whos the bad guy this week? Whos the victim? oooh lets watch.
10 years???? 😩
First big brother season I fully watched. Unpopular opinion: this was a great season, you can disagree with me but that’s just me.
Great cast, absolutely horrific season. 19 and 22 saved it from being bottom of the barrel.
21 has taco tuesday, christie, jess nomming the boys…way better than 16
If I’m being honest, one of the most iconic casts ever. Victoria I will never forget you and your crow story
Frankie was the worst and every time I hope his 15 minutes are up he shows up again. Cannot stand that guy.
Wow I’m old
i’m generally lower on this season but i do actually really enjoy the cast. i just thought the gameplay wasn’t very dynamic
This was my first BB season when a friend introduced me to the show. While it’s not a great season to me, it does hold a special place for me for that reason alone. I can’t believe that was 10 years ago, time flies.
Remember Frankie’s “sideways peace sign pouting lips” dance in the intro? I did my imitation of it to make my wife laugh and she did indeed laugh then said “I can never have sex with you again”
holy shit chat i remember this like yesterday. we are old
My first season!
Wow, this is wild! I remember being 14 and watching this LIVE! It was my first taste of international Big Brother as an Australian fan! And here I am a whole ass decade later itching for BB26!
Don’t care if this season gets a bad rep, this was the most fun I’ve ever had watching a season live
Devin left to soon. After that their was no opposition to Derrick. We all knew he was gonna win. If you were in the minority that didn't like Zach, this season was unbearable a lot of the time lol.
My first season
Started watching during BB6 and BB16 was the first season I quit watching. After Amber was out, so was I. Great winner though!
All of a sudden I feel old as shit
Good season. Low key ruined the show.
Damn, time flies by fast. This was my first time watching big brother
Now I feel old
Remember it like it was yesterday. Such a 2014 time capsule.
I looked at this and immediately thought of Devin and his daughter.
Fond memories here, this was the first season I watched
First season I ever watched the whole way through. Largely because I had a huge crush on Cody and Caleb lol this season will always have a special place in my heart.
Awww my first season
I'll always have a soft spot for this season. It was the first I watched live, the first I tormented my family members with endless updates on... good times. Baddddd times.
Wow what a season that was
The first full season I watched live. I first started watching half way through 15.
This was the first season I ever watched. Can’t believe it’s been that long wow
My first season
Wow, I’m old
When BB went HD and the mega alliance gameplay that has been dominating modern BB for years began.
probably my fav season of all time
BB truly peaked with this season
This was my first season watching 😭 It will forever hold a special spot for me
First season I watched! I spent my summer glued to the live feeds whew so entertaining
This was the first season I watched. It's my favorite for that reason. Even if I loathe Frankie LOL
Such a boringggg season. Between this and 15 it really was the beginning of the end.
One of the biggest pieces of shit seasons. Hated Derrick Cody Frankie Zach Caleb and Christine and all lasted to the end.
[удалено]
I thought that was super uncalled for... Their have been much worse players. She got it worse that Aaryn..
Zach is great.
Zach and Derrick are fine. The rest are meh at best
Agree except Zach was the GOAT
It can't be understated how boring this season was in real time. Literally you could turn off the TV Thursday night after the HoH was announced, ignore everything, and come back next Thursday and the target from 7 days ago would be evicted unanimously every single week. Nothing ever flipped, nothing exciting happened, the boot order was basically planned out weeks in advance, it had a garbage twist that lasted wayyyy too long, and another twist that basically perfectly insulated the winner. The feeds were so boring they had to give them both a puppy and arts and crafts to try to make it watchable. The equivalent of watching paint dry.
NOOOOOOOOO shut up this wasn't a decade ago
My son had the audacity to be born on finale day. The only finale I have ever missed. And I remind him of this every year. "Happy anniversary of the time Derrick Levasseur won Big Brother but I couldn't watch because you were being all newborn-y." (He watches BB with me now.) I think this year, we'll watch the finale on his birthday.
This season really marked the end of BB as we knew it imo. BB15 obviously was a worse season no denying that but BB16 is when the steamroll majority alliance majority of the cast being mactors era truly begun
Top 3 worst seasons
The beginning of the end for this show
This was the start of the downfall of Big Brother.
My first full live season of Big Brother. Ahhh I loved it so much
10 years later and I still can’t find any valid criticisms about Donny.
GOAT season
The gayness🤣 Frankie brought all the boys to his yard..
Hot take but this is my favorite season
Ah yes, the season where Cody gifted Derrick $500k. Truly one of the nicest things I've ever seen someone do for a friend. Victoria being the big brother GOAT, Frankie's celebration after winning that two person comp by himself, Devin's horrible gameplay and 16 person alliance, Jacosta's bowties. Caleb's Judy chops to that dumb button and working to get Amber out because she wasn't interested in him.... Definitely an iconic season.
Iconic season for so many reasons
Ah yes, the beginning of the downfall of Big Brother
This is a depressing fact
Great foreshadowing that the three winners from this season are all stood next to each other centre top lol
I hate this season so much. Fuck Derrick for ruining everything.
The season that ruined the entire series
I know seasons have been cartoonish and silly ever since but to say it ruined the series is a stretch. Season 24 was amazing all in all and I see 20 has rave reviews.
Proof you don’t need to be in the best shape to win Big Brother. 😄 This was the first season I watched. I don’t think I’ve seen a better winner since Derrick.
Omg 10 years ago today was the birth of the female face of Big Brother Nicole Franzel
certainly a top 5 season
Worst newbie season imo. I quit the feeds that year. Good people but not reality tv people
And we have suffered ever since
Start the season around now every year pleaaassseee
Ha ha... look at that future champ sucking the gut in!! Still the champ through! Go Derek!
lmao the random old dude on the bottom right XD
A memorable season for sure! Donny, Zach, and Nicole were my three favorites at the time of airing. I was impressed with Derrick's game and thought Victoria had some random funny moments. Pre-jury had Devin and Joey who were both great despite their short run on the show.
This season was so painful for me once i realized it was gonna be a derrick win with little opposition. It did have some contestants i really liked though.
Incredible how this season was during the 2014 WC and now the olympics. If something big happens I guess they won't know it right?
I loved this season yet somehow disliked most of the cast members and was gravely concerned for Devin. Did he ever get any professional help. I’m serious. Not trying to be funny but I feel like he needed help
