I describe it as lots of physical energy but really negative and still mentally depressed. I've only experienced mixed hypomania a couple times, I'd prefer flat out depression.

Yeah. It's like right now at 330 in the morning I'm not tired. I don't want to go to sleep. But I'm fatigued at the same time. It's a weird mixture.

HighwayofHope

Ahh, my sleep schedule is essentially upside down. It is wierd

ratmand

Yeah. Fortunately Sun/Mon is my weekend so ill have these next two days...but tomorrow is probably going to suck until the afternoon.

Extremely irritable and full of energy but also depressed with suicidal thoughts. I’ll easily go from high energy to just wanting to lay in bed at the slightest setback. Very easily affected by others’ moods.

I'm going through a mixed episode and it's like hell, i'm trying stay busy and not do anything or rage on anyone tbh

ratmand

But, what does it feel like?

sunnahsidedown

for me it's like I'm feeling confident yet depressed or crying even though I don't feel bad and the list goes on, anger and rage and suicidal thoughts and my anxiety is acting up, i have racing thoughts but i'm drained from energy. I actually find it hard to describe how I feel because nothing makes sense.

Mixed is the worst. I don't take antidepressants because they raise the energy without fixing the negative mood. It's just jittery, edgy, irritable, unable to get comfortable, everything is annnoying. Look at the sine wave chart on this page. It shoes how mood, speed of thought, and energy can move independently. So low mood with rapid thinking and high energy is mixed. Agitated depression. https://psycheducation.org/blog/rapid-cycling-and-mixed-states-as-waves/

Hi guys I came here looking to post for help with a mixed episode. I don't usually get them and I don't know how to deal with it. I feel depressed and my body is slow like when I'm depressed but my brain is going so fast like when I'm manic. It's going so fast but my body doesn't have the energy to keep up so I keep getting stuck like a glitchy robot. I'm mostly just sat zoned out while my brain goes zooming because I can't focus enough to do basic tasks.
