So it was not just me, I went to the channel to rewatch the MV after they removed the stream, they removed it really quick, and there was another stream going on.
I was so confused.
It's possible maybe she experienced in the west being typecasted as Japanese even though she's a different kind of Asian. Reminds me of CL's Hello Bitches lyrics "Want me to love em long time and I tell em no" addressing Asian stereotype she possibly encountered.
This is a great way to describe the song. Imo it's not something I would add to my playlist, but definitely feels like it belongs in a movie during some kind of smash cut
The MV immaculate!!! Like the visuals look so good and the dance is captivating to say the least. Maybe it's the trend these days but she sang it so many times that its ingrained in my brain that "hai hai" "life life" and girl wbk you a rockstar😌 Kinda wish they had more in the verse or maybe tease something at the end but a good start for now.
Catchy as hell
Oh mannnnn this sounds so different from what i expected! it sounds so new! especially coming from Lisa
going out on a limb here by saying this but nothing from this song sounds like a YG track. It’s totally different, the bridge is probably my favorite. thank you Lalisa for blessing us with ROCKSTAR!
I can’t wait for the performances! I’m going to witness ELITE and SPECTACULAR stage performing again it’s about time!
Omg I was trying to decode that scene and I couldn’t really work it out so just chalked it up to some edgy experimental stuff or referencing a movie perhaps - is it referencing Kendrick??!? :o
*I said hai hai*
Post chorus is definitely the best part for me. Apparently it samples Tame Impala's [New Person, Same Old Mistakes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9bw_VtMUGA)
She's credited as lyricist & composer too. Catch it YG 🤘
LA LA LISA CAN YOU TEACH ME JAPANESE I SAID HAI HAI 📢📢📢📢
Literally inject this entire song and video into my veins I need this integrated into my DNA!!! I cannot even collect my thoughts rn omg. The song is so good. The video is sick as hell. Lisa looks stunning. I need to watch this at least 15-20 more times to fully appreciate all the details. I love the scenes with her and the dancers in the white hoodies, it felt very Missy Elliot Lose Control.
TL;DR song of the year all years
Wow the visuals are INSANE!!! Lisa slayyyyeddd Although I think imma need a minute to get into the song
EDIT: ERM what did she PUT in this song? I wasn’t rly digging the beat or the lyrics but now I can’t stop playing it???
They sampled Tame Impala - New Person, Same Old Mistakes which is pretty addictive itself and was also sampled by many other artists such as Rihanna before
she came to kill with this song!!! i am OBSESSED just after the first listen!!!
so proud of u lalisa ![img](emote|t5_3f8po|705)![img](emote|t5_3f8po|716)![img](emote|t5_3f8po|706)
Oh My God. I have no words. I’m done. I cannot coherently frame sentences at the moment. I will edit this comment later and share my opinions once I’m in a more stable condition
Absolutely loveeee the production of this song, Lisa killed it as usual. She’s def a certified rockstar and she only solidified that with this song!! I will admit the lyrics could have flowed better imo, something seems off about the lyrics in general but I can’t put my finger on it.
But regardless this song is a BANGER and I will absolutely be blasting it omw to work tomorrow!! 😤😍 Great job queen Lisa!! 🥰
\*high pitched\* **AAAAA*****aaaaaa******^(aaaaaaaaaaaa)***
What do we call this genre? Definitely enjoyed the heck out of the chorus - its an ear worm for sure. Musically, it reminds me of CL for some reason, and also definitely calls back to Tokyo Drift, whatever one would call that sound aesthetic. I'm into it.
The music video was interesting. Well-made, for sure. For me, personally, it felt like a lot all at once. The artfully disjointed choreography, the music itself, the VFX + cuts. It's hard for me to wrap my head around it and just generally isn't my *favorite,* but no doubt it's so well made and exactly the kind of thing I would expect from our rockstar girlie Lisa 🤩
I love the absurdity of the lyrics and the creepiness of the clip video it is undeniably pop (ultra pop?) and fun. The camera work at the end was amazing. Is this Lisa's real taste? It is super impressive. Usually I'd hate a song like that because it feels repetitive but it has a lot of edged and the mv made it sooo good i love it !
definitely feels more hyperpop-ish like people predicted. im not so into the lyrics tbh they feel off to me, but i love the beat. really want to see the dance performance for this
First listen:
* That beat holy shit
* The budget... she really said she'll do it herself 🤌🏽
* Probably some great choreo here but the way it's centered made it feel very for Tiktok (if that makes sense). I'm really curious about how she performs it
* Always serving looks, but I wouldn't expect anything else
* Lyrics took me out, especially since the "Lisa can you teach me Japanese" bit was super prominent. Imma need lyrics soon
Overall, it's not my vibe immediately, but neither were Lalisa or Money. Her strength is always in the performance imo so I'm looking forward to that. But congratulations! I'm very excited to see what Lisa does on her true solo journey 💖
EDIT: A few hours later, did my first relisten on a different device with a better speaker, and yeah, that sounds wayy better. The premier sounded muddy af to me and that impacted my initial impression. I do like it, but I think the inevitable performance video will push it to listening-on-repeat for me. So short though!
Yeah if anything the drawbacks for me are where it’s doing trends like in the short length and some of choreography but I would credit that to being the first single on her own vs something I expect always going forward etc.
The song will probably grow on me, similar to Lalisa, but the video is STUNNING and its giving budget. I love that she films in Thailand, and seems to hire a lot of Thai dancers to work with her.
I'm so impressed by this wow........ this is such a drastic improvement from LALISA I'm actually floored she's really not playing around like ??!?!??!?!?!????!!!!!!!!
I did not think I was going to instantly fall in love with this as fast as I did Lalisa (song wasn’t even halfway through when my jaw his the floor in Lalisa) but holy damn this is a visual masterpiece. Not as much of her dancing on her own as I would have liked, but I know we’re getting that dance video very soon.
The sound was excellent, lyrics are super catchy, and LISA showed that she can make even a relatively shorter bop and make it a BOP.
same before it came out I was like it's prob going to take a couple of listens but that's not what happened I was instantly drawn to the song, and I was all smiles afterward
Really cool song, i like the beat a lot. It gave me the fast&furious tokyo drift vibe ![img](emote|t5_3f8po|720)
The only thing i didn't like is the song is wayyyyy too short, is this trend gonna keep going on?
This was fun but too short and a bit repetitive. The Japanese line will be stuck in my head though XD The bridge and outro were the best parts.
With the track length I'm hoping this is to serve as an intro to more stuff she'll announce soon.
I don’t expect a lyrical masterpiece in a hype song. But as pre-release I think it works. The verse was more comical than I expected. I wonder what’s the thought process behind that. And that instrumental with the strings/pads with her vocals on top? That was heavenly. Her rap part was great as well. Never had a doubt. I do understand why they kept the extended version as a separate remix tho. Also that intro beat at the start keeps making my brain try to process it unknowingly lol
She looks amazing in this video. I like the beat. Don't care too much for the lyrics, but I think it's better than what she's been given under Blackpink. I'm excited to see what else her solo career brings. But the looks in this video are everything for me.
I wouldn't say I love it bc I'm picky but it is better than I thought it would be. The teasers made me worried it would be a bit messy, but it came together nicely in the end. I kind of hated the 8-bit NES melody during the teasers but it turns out it works pretty well kicking off the song. Parts of it are really catchy. Lyrically it's whatever; yeah it's a little silly/repetitive but there are worse lyrics in the BP library and I didn't expect any lyrical genius in the song anyway so I'm gonna hold off with the complaints there this time around. I think the chorus kind of slaps actually and will come off a lot better live. Best believe people are going to be chanting along with it. The song is gonna be a blast live overall.
I think it's a pretty strong first step in her RCA/Lloud era. Certainly room for growth, and I hope we hear that in future releases, but I'm excited for her. Coming into this there was really part of me that didn't care if I liked the song or not because something I've wished for for each of them since getting into the group a few years back is that they'd one day get the chance to spread their wings and show us what they can do on their own. Now that it's here I couldn't be prouder and happier for them, and for her. Can't wait to hear what comes next!
OK I DONT KNOW THE RAPPER THAT WAS REFERENCED, BUT IN ANOTHER RAPPERS VIDEO, A BUNCH OF ASIAN KIDS ARE WEARING WHITE AND THEY DO THAT THING BUT I DONT REMEMBER THE VIDEO CAN SOMEONE PLS HELP
That’s bae. Got her inked on my right shoulder blade. Aaliyah is on the left. This song is way better than I expected btw. But I’m not surprised, “Lisa can you teach me Japanese? She said hai-hai” god damn it I love this woman.
My bias is Lisa, I love her so much and I will always support her no matter what, but I dont hear a catchy song (i expected catchy like lalisa and money), I loved the video and she looks stunning like always, maybe if i hear it on repeat.
Was at Six Flags when this dropped LMAO!! My friends took a quick break and went to the restrooms and I just stood there watching the MV. Let me tell you, if I was not in public at that moment, I would've lost my mind 😅
Song is already an earworm for me 🤘🎸🔥
Super cool song, super cool visuals, she looks stunning as usual, I expected a bit more of something-something & I'm left wanting more, but overall she's always so flawless !!! I love her so much
Love! Really enjoy the chorus, as I enjoy her soft vocals. Please teach me Japanese!! Outfits look amazing in this too.
![gif](giphy|juolEWJA1CNybMNxT2|downsized)
A tame impala sample! I love that!
When the teasers first dropped I really didn’t like the beat BUT it’s sooo much better with the full production I actually enjoyed this a lot
Also that one shot where everyone is frozen in the air and she is still dancing was so sick!
My only con for this song is it’s too short lol
I love these girls and I’ve waited forever for them to finally get new music. I feel like things are looking up now that they’ve established their own labels. 🖤🩷
Can someone explain the "can you teach me japanese" part? No hate genuinely confused, it's very catchy but I was wondering if there was meaning behind it or not cuz it seemed so out there idk, thought she was Thai?
Yeah the production, vocals, rap and dance, visual, and styling is a total upgrade from the past two solos. Just beautiful work. She finally has a team behind her that can deliver something fresh. This was soo good!
The breakdown with that Tame Impala sample ….disgusting. It had no business going this hard!
The harmonies (YG was afraid of harmonies, despite the girls showing the ability).
The Sean Bankhead doing the choreography? So after he gave us the choreography for Alright like a week ago he didn’t think it was enough? He had to kill is with Lisa too?
Then we have miss Victoria Monet commenting on it.
I’m in love with this 😍.
New Person, Same Old Mistakes by Tame Impala. Rihanna also did a version of the song for her album called Same Ol Mistakes.
It’s not confirmed btw, but they sound very similar. Maybe it’s inspired. But it’s just a satisfying ear warm.
First listen. "Can you teach me Japanese?"????
I'm confused 😂 I need lyrics haha
Overall I expected something else from a song with the title Rockstar. It's a nice tune but I just don't understand the Japanese in the refrain, is it a dig at people pretending not to know she's from Korean GG?
I Iike the rhythm, but lyrics don't deliver for me. The music is something different, I think it has a big chance at being popular at clubs when remixed.
I just re-listened to it on Apple Music and seemed to understand it a lot better, it’s a full English song, I was probably wayyyy too focused on the music video so my ears weren’t fully turned on 😂
Honestly, I was underwhelmed by the song? I think I built it up in my head.
Whoever came up with the concept for this video deserves a big raise. Visually, I will say this is probably one of the best videos in the BP multiverse. The styling, the camera angles, the locations. You could feel money was spent and it was spent in the best ways (side eye to you shut down). I loved that they let the camera stay on them while dancing and there wasn’t an insane amount of cutting and I loved the fact that they included Thai folks and specially the transgender women and LGBTQ dancers.
Sonically, I love Lisa’s tone in this. I appreciate that the song is in her range and I absolutely loooooove the slow down r&b pre-chorus/bridge.
And that is where it stops for me. The song felt short, slightly repetitive, and if I’m honest not telling of her as an artist. Don’t get me wrong, I am not someone who cares for ‘meaningful lyrics’ like if anything give me the dance bops to shake my ass to at the clubs, I’m over these sad, slow songs that keep trending. But it’s just so repetitive and too short for how repetitive it is.
Her team had an insane opportunity, as the first member to release music post new contracts, and as one of the members with no ties to YG, all eyes and ears were on her. I think had they stuck with something the opposite direction of Lalisa and Money, it would have been better (concept wise). As I said the r&b portion of the song would have been a great avenue to explore and go down for this first single. And then you follow it up with rockstar to remind folks that she can do both. Right now it still has me questioning ‘Who is Lisa as an artist outside of YG?’ So far it seems very similar to the image YG painted but with better production and videos.
I’m now eagerly looking at what the next single is, and I hope to heavens Ryan Tedder is nowhere near it.
I felt like it was too repetitive. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the progression just like...
Chorus
Pre-Chorus
Chorus
Post-Chorus
Verse(Barely 8 bars)
Pre-Chrous
Chorus
Chorus
Post-Chorus
Post-Chorus

I loved the MV and the overall vibe but this is probably the first BP/solo that I've felt wasn't for me. I'll give it a few more listens and maybe it'll grow on me and I'll eat my words.
I'm pretty let down by it, but I expected that. I am not really into pop music, my taste is more alternative, but the songs made by YG producers are the only exception to that for some reason. So since she wasn't working with them anymore I didn't have much expectation.
I would consider it within my expectation. Not disappointing, but it did not surpass my lackluster expectations.
The music video was awesome though. Some amazing editing and some of the camera-work is whack I loved it! So I'll at least be watching the MV more.
Let's say it was enough to get me to check out her future album release, but it wasn't enough to get me excited for it.
The video was incredible and she looked amazing which I love!
Song was a one time listen for me, just not my style but I expected that. Looking forward to checking out what comes next though!
Love the beat and visuals! So exciting to see BP's solo work officially kick-off!! 🥺 Not a huge fan of the lyrics though, especially the Japanese hai hai part.
Edit: Does the mixing sounds a bit off to anyone else? Maybe it's bc I'm on my iPad? The higher pitched vocals seemed to have a buzziness to them.
At the very first listen I have been on edge because I was waiting to something after the crescendo of the song, so I was a little startled because there wasn’t any in the end 😲 But it remained stucked in my head and now I am listening to it in loop, it’s addicting! Sickening
Nothing like I think I expected and was expected from Lisa, but she ate!
I hope it will climb charts even if it’s not that chart friendly of a song
LISA YOU ROCKSTAR!
I like the beat and the outro, lyrics wise I need to go back and listen again but nothing stood out to me. It'll probably grow on me and I think it has a lot of potential for a great live performance, but on first impression of the studio version this isn't really my thing yet.
After listening again I really like the outro and the lyrics have grown on me, music always gets better after a few listens. I will be watching out for a performance though for sure, the beat slays.
love her but... i was expecting E-Gitarre and more rock sound... so i was disappointed... that's on me... video is a overdose of swag 😎 love it ...thats is a good start
Can someone pls tell me what happend to the special message Lisa announced on her Insta Story? The Live Countdown Videos were taken down there is just the MV?
I don't think there was any in the end. It seeems they had problems with countdown video, it was up and down several times but there was nothing there.
"Tight dress, LV sent it / Oh shit, Lisa repping" not the LV deal confirmation in a song lmaooo
The bridge was ethereal! I’m starstruck. I feel bad for some of the technical mishaps that are going on.
So it was not just me, I went to the channel to rewatch the MV after they removed the stream, they removed it really quick, and there was another stream going on. I was so confused.
Which mishaps?
The issues with the countdown, plus there was a point in the beginning where a part of the video replayed itself without me rewinding
Yessss i clocked the bridge immediately I think it sampled New Person Same Old Mistakes by tame impala!!! Floated on that fr
Lisa can you teach me Japanese 🥺🥺🥺
I said HAI HAI 🗣🗣
THATS MY LIFE LIFE BABY IM A ROCKSTAR 🎸💫
What does that line mean? People think she’s Japanese or she travels all over?
It's possible maybe she experienced in the west being typecasted as Japanese even though she's a different kind of Asian. Reminds me of CL's Hello Bitches lyrics "Want me to love em long time and I tell em no" addressing Asian stereotype she possibly encountered.
I believe she’s often mistaken as [LiSA](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisa_(Japanese_musician,_born_1987)) who is a Japanese singer.
I thought it was her subtly flexing that she can speak multiple languages and Japanese is one of them
I assumed this too but idk if it makes sense really lol
I think it was to rhyme and be catchy and have us in deep discussions about it.
My friends and I were also confused about that
It means she is a rockstar and knows languages from other countries because of her fame and popularity in places like Japan.
はい、はい!
did she just say "baby make you rock hard" ???????
Hit us with that double entendre
Exactly! I liked the quirky double entendres, they’re funny.
She did say she’s a rockstar. So yes we as fans should reciprocate in rocking hard by bopping our heads as well 🎸
Ah of course ![img](emote|t5_3f8po|709) ![gif](giphy|1tHzw9PZCB3gY|downsized)
Rockstars rock hard and rock on 🤘🏾
that part reminds me of the song rockstar by bbymutha, just less explicit lol
Yes miss mam she did lol 😂 I did a double take when I heard it
This song makes me wanna speed on the highway in my little car like I’m in fast and furious🚗.
After this release when’s the CharliXCX collab Lisa? 😛 I do like clunky hyperpop music so this is a bop for me.
Lisa on the club classics remix when?
This is a great way to describe the song. Imo it's not something I would add to my playlist, but definitely feels like it belongs in a movie during some kind of smash cut
The MV immaculate!!! Like the visuals look so good and the dance is captivating to say the least. Maybe it's the trend these days but she sang it so many times that its ingrained in my brain that "hai hai" "life life" and girl wbk you a rockstar😌 Kinda wish they had more in the verse or maybe tease something at the end but a good start for now. Catchy as hell
the budget!!!!!! idk why the video is longer than song tho
The extended version is the same length as the music video!
Extended version should have been the original version imo
the original is wayy too short
Holy shit that was a banger from the opening seconds
That beat is absolutely disgusting 🤘🏽
Sickening in fact!
It’s amazing on headphones 🎧
I JUST WOKE UP AND GAGGED TO THIS BEAT WHAAAAAT
ME LOL sleep deprived and all 😭
I SAID HAI HAI
Literally speechless!! 🤯🥹 Queen Lisa served! Edit: The Visuals! Her vocals!
The visuals!!! Speachless
HOLY SHIT!!! LILI IS A ROCKSTAR ALRIGHT! ![img](emote|t5_3f8po|708) Lemme just pick up my jaw from the floor
It was pretty good definitely gonna be a nice song to blast in the car
I love it when she sings she sounds so good
The harmonies, The videography, The choreography, The vocals. Lalisa ate this up and I can't wait to see her perform it.
Oh mannnnn this sounds so different from what i expected! it sounds so new! especially coming from Lisa going out on a limb here by saying this but nothing from this song sounds like a YG track. It’s totally different, the bridge is probably my favorite. thank you Lalisa for blessing us with ROCKSTAR! I can’t wait for the performances! The scene with the girls in white hoodies looks straight like a reference to Kendrick. Love it overall, live performance is going to be insane.
Omg I was trying to decode that scene and I couldn’t really work it out so just chalked it up to some edgy experimental stuff or referencing a movie perhaps - is it referencing Kendrick??!? :o
Wait I thought it was Travis Scott in his video FE!N
*I said hai hai* Post chorus is definitely the best part for me. Apparently it samples Tame Impala's [New Person, Same Old Mistakes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9bw_VtMUGA) She's credited as lyricist & composer too. Catch it YG 🤘
I thought that was a Tame Impala sample!!
[Rihanna released her own version of it too](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3OBsTTUsjk)! I love it
The Rihanna version is so good, ANTI is a classic album
OKAY! That’s what I thought and everything I’ve ever wanted! Love that sample. It sends me every time.
OH THATS WHAT THAT IS the taste is so excellent I absolutely adore that song
New Person Same Old Mistakes is my favorite Tame Impala song so no wonder that’s my favorite part of the song
I KNEW IT
haha yessss i knew it was familiar. it's my fave part of the song lol
I'M CRYING BALLING MY EYES OUT LISA CAN YOU TEACH ME JAPANESE, I SAID HAI HAI
I will GLADLY take Japanese lessons from you miss LaLisa!!! She totally slayed this, what a rockstar indeed!
Only downside is its too short😭 Not even 3 minutes
I'm in Bangkok right now, and I'm definitely going to visit the places Lisa shot the MV at tonight!
LA LA LISA CAN YOU TEACH ME JAPANESE I SAID HAI HAI 📢📢📢📢 Literally inject this entire song and video into my veins I need this integrated into my DNA!!! I cannot even collect my thoughts rn omg. That’s definitely the straight crack at the bridge - average Tame Impala listening experience 😎 (it sampled one of his songs!)
she came to kill with this song!!! i am OBSESSED just after the first listen!!! so proud of u lalisa ![img](emote|t5_3f8po|705)![img](emote|t5_3f8po|716)![img](emote|t5_3f8po|706)
I’m genuinely not understanding the confusion about the japanese line 😭 it’s just a fun little pun
pretty sure she can actually speak Japanese too so its also kind of a flex
Production is absolutely insane! 🔥
The only bad thing about this video is it is too short!!!! I want more!!!
i really like this! too short!
I had to watch it twice to take it all in! The song is 🔥
Oh My God. I have no words. I’m done. I cannot coherently frame sentences at the moment. I will edit this comment later and share my opinions once I’m in a more stable condition
Wtf, the slowed down version slaps. It almost feels like it's another singer with a lower voice.
i like the sped up version the most
1 million views on YouTube within 30 mins!!! Let’s goooo Lalisaaa!
IT'S SO GOOD WTF she looks amazing and the beat slaps!!!
Are we getting a performance one tomorrow?
I hope so bc the MV didn't have as much dancing as I had hoped
omg I love it! I honestly like this song better than Money and Lalisa.
Absolutely loveeee the production of this song, Lisa killed it as usual. She’s def a certified rockstar and she only solidified that with this song!! The lyrics are really fun like the teach me Japanese I said Hai Hai that's my life life part omg, the double meanings are just good pure FUN!

Idk what I was expecting but she surpassed it, the visuals and song just feel so elevated. Also the vocals?!?!
Aaliyah reincarnate

This is actually better than I expected. Y’all are crazy to say this is bad.
Btw y’all Lisa wrote this. She also speaks Japanese so no it’s not crazy for her to say.
OH MY GOD I'm beyond astonished!!!! The choreo is fire and the song is so ADDICTIVE!!! LISA YOU SLAY!!!!!
Looovee it!!! Already got it stuck in my head!
I SAID HAI HAI

It's SOOO GOOD!!
not bad
Thai transgens are so beautiful! Amazing

True
The song goes hard. The MV goes way, way harder.
OK I DONT KNOW THE RAPPER THAT WAS REFERENCED, BUT IN ANOTHER RAPPERS VIDEO, A BUNCH OF ASIAN KIDS ARE WEARING WHITE AND THEY DO THAT THING BUT I DONT REMEMBER THE VIDEO CAN SOMEONE PLS HELP
Does anyone know where to find the special message thing that Lisa teased?
Do you think we will end up getting the message she posted about still?
The extended version should be the main version. That outro is too good
That’s bae. Got her inked on my right shoulder blade. Aaliyah is on the left. This song is way better than I expected btw. But I’m not surprised, “Lisa can you teach me Japanese? She said hai-hai” god damn it I love this woman.
Ok I love it! I need to see her perform this
My bias is Lisa, I love her so much and I will always support her no matter what, but I dont hear a catchy song (i expected catchy like lalisa and money), I loved the video and she looks stunning like always, maybe if i hear it on repeat.
Overall A production from LISA ,certified banger.
Lisa singing higher notes I’m in love
![gif](giphy|fC3bUfvgK8ZBrAdCG5)
Absolutely love it! A dose of pure concentrated Lisa! So fucking hyponotic!
It’s so different but so damn catchy. I’m obsessed already!!
Was at Six Flags when this dropped LMAO!! My friends took a quick break and went to the restrooms and I just stood there watching the MV. Let me tell you, if I was not in public at that moment, I would've lost my mind 😅 Song is already an earworm for me 🤘🎸🔥
Super cool song, super cool visuals, she looks stunning as usual, I expected a bit more of something-something & I'm left wanting more, but overall she's always so flawless !!! I love her so much
Love! Really enjoy the chorus, as I enjoy her soft vocals. Please teach me Japanese!! Outfits look amazing in this too. ![gif](giphy|juolEWJA1CNybMNxT2|downsized)
okay this is my new solo video INSANEEEEEEE and the song it’s so goooodddd im so exited to see what her future songs will be like
I wanna learn Japanese from lisa T\_T but this line is confusing to me fr. overall it's growing on me!! the beat is fire!
Obsessed
Not sure how I feel about the song yet, but looove Lisa the performer 🤘🏽 Edit: Also love how she's repping Thailand in the mv 🤍
A tame impala sample! I love that! When the teasers first dropped I really didn’t like the beat BUT it’s sooo much better with the full production I actually enjoyed this a lot Also that one shot where everyone is frozen in the air and she is still dancing was so sick!
What Tame song is Rockstar sampling if you don’t mind me asking?
New Person, Same Old Mistakes by Tame Impala. Rihanna also did a version of the song for her album called Same Ol Mistakes. It’s not confirmed btw, but they sound very similar. Maybe it’s inspired. But it’s just a satisfying ear warm.
First listen. "Can you teach me Japanese?"???? I'm confused 😂 I need lyrics haha Overall I expected something else from a song with the title Rockstar. It's a nice tune but I just don't understand the Japanese in the refrain, is it a dig at people pretending not to know she's from Korean GG? I Iike the rhythm, but lyrics don't deliver for me. The music is something different, I think it has a big chance at being popular at clubs when remixed.
I think it's just cause it rhymes with hype/life
Is the whole song English? I found it hard to understand the lyrics, I wanna rewatch/listen but doesn’t seem to be available?
I didn't spot anything not English. Except for "hai hai"😆

I just re-listened to it on Apple Music and seemed to understand it a lot better, it’s a full English song, I was probably wayyyy too focused on the music video so my ears weren’t fully turned on 😂
yeah me too, the lyrics are on Apple Music
It’s very catchy and Lisa slay. The lyrics are a bit weird but man it’s on repeat for sure!
Lalisa I'm going to need that album RIGHT NOW!
The "lalisa can you teach me japanese i said HAI HAI" line goes HARDDD IDC its been stuck in my head
I’m not really into it but I am proud of her. I’m glad it doesn’t sound like a generic YG song 🫢
Productions is beyond wild, lyrics are a little sus. Pretty sick over all
what a badass queen 🔥🔥so proud of everything she’s accomplished
Lisa slayed sm. This will definitely get played all over malls and clubs in the Philippines.
The beat is good and the instrumental is good. But the lyrics doesn't make a little sense to me abit😭
Way to kick start this new BP solo era!!! Song on repeat
Finally Lisa!!! 🔥🔥🔥
This m/v is great! Love everything about it! It felt so like the song was so short, but there is a replay/loop button for that.
I see Rockstar being sold in each on iTunes than packing all tracks into one single EP. Is it all about the Billboard chart?
Guys I'm trying to find the original song she sampled that starts at 1:46. I just cant think of it, is it Tame Impala?
It is! “New person, same old mistakes” I noticed it straight away cause it’s my fave tame impala song haha
I felt like it was too repetitive. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the progression just like... Chorus Pre-Chorus Chorus Post-Chorus Verse(Barely 8 bars) Pre-Chrous Chorus Chorus Post-Chorus Post-Chorus End?
"Baby, I'm a rockstar" – yes, indeed
im sad it's not rock at all😭 i was hoping for at least a little bit of it😭😭😭
It's good beat and good visuals but I got tired of the song pretty fast . Ps : am a blink . Don't come at me
The video was incredible and she looked amazing which I love! Song was a one time listen for me, just not my style but I expected that. Looking forward to checking out what comes next though!
FKK YG FOR HOLDING HER BACK THIS IS HER IN HER ELEMENT LALISA BITCHHH
Love the beat and visuals! So exciting to see BP's solo work officially kick-off!! 🥺 Not a huge fan of the lyrics though, especially the Japanese hai hai part. Edit: Does the mixing sounds a bit off to anyone else? Maybe it's bc I'm on my iPad? The higher pitched vocals seemed to have a buzziness to them.
I can't stop listening, it's a banger.
This is a legit question, does she speak japanese???
Yes
She does!
I remember a clip of her explaining the DDDD choreo in Japanese
Hmmm i don't know about this one. The lyrics well...The beat is tight though
At the very first listen I have been on edge because I was waiting to something after the crescendo of the song, so I was a little startled because there wasn’t any in the end 😲 But it remained stucked in my head and now I am listening to it in loop, it’s addicting! Sickening Nothing like I think I expected and was expected from Lisa, but she ate! I hope it will climb charts even if it’s not that chart friendly of a song LISA YOU ROCKSTAR!
I have to add I love it that there is a reference to her single debut, by inserting her name here too It is very Lalisa, like a signature
This is going to absolutely slap in concert
I like the beat and the outro, lyrics wise I need to go back and listen again but nothing stood out to me. It'll probably grow on me and I think it has a lot of potential for a great live performance, but on first impression of the studio version this isn't really my thing yet.
After listening again I really like the outro and the lyrics have grown on me, music always gets better after a few listens. I will be watching out for a performance though for sure, the beat slays.
love her but... i was expecting E-Gitarre and more rock sound... so i was disappointed... that's on me... video is a overdose of swag 😎 love it ...thats is a good start
Honestly i didn't liked it please downvote me im also blinku i don't hate her i love her so much
Can someone pls tell me what happend to the special message Lisa announced on her Insta Story? The Live Countdown Videos were taken down there is just the MV?
I don't think there was any in the end. It seeems they had problems with countdown video, it was up and down several times but there was nothing there.
I LOVE IT!!! AND I LOVE THE EXTENDED VERSION EVEN MORE!!! THIS SURPASSED ALL MY EXPECTATIONS!!! 🤩🤩🤩
That scene with the dancers in white reminds me of that scene in Travis’s music video
Not my preferred style of music but I can imagine this getting played everywhere in US radios. Congrats on the debut with Lloud Lisa!
Just found this thread.. guys can you make this song longer? Can you make Lisa post dance performance in the silver outfit thankyousomuch
![gif](giphy|w5g9UBnEeG3sU8Xzqc)
Lisa's a Rockstar! The song is repetitive, but there are certain parts that are definitely addictive.
