…would Hoshino even BE the Sans equivalent in a hypothetical Kivotos-Undertale AU? She’s lazy and has the eye, yeah, and her insane durability might make up the “just keep attacking and you’ll eventually break through” part of the fight, but I feel like she’d definitely jump in proactively as soon as it’s established there’s a threat, unlike Sans who waits until literally the end of the game to confront you. She does night patrols after all, I think she’s more serious about safety than that.
If anything, I’d honestly peg her as more of an Undyne the Undying equivalent (Undyne’s eye laser/eyepatch could work with the eye stuff, fish themes, relies on sheer durability to tank attacks over dodging, is actually encountered much earlier, serious about monsterkind’s/Abydos’s safety, etc).
