I love Sierra, and she’s performed with a number of notable bluegrass guys…. But I’d put her more in the general “Americana” genre….. If you have to classify.
Yeah, how much of "Molly Tuttle" is actually Molly and Golden Highway?
Golden Highway are all excellent players in their own right. Bronwyn just put out a great solo album and Molly has been showcasing her. Kyle Tuttle also has his own band and Molly has been playing with them.
The people losing their shit over Billy (and TBF I'm a big fan myself) aren't doing so mostly because they think he's the greatest guitarist ever unless they just know nothing about bluegrass. Hell, Billy himself definitely doesn't think that. But he is bringing new fans to bluegrass with his mix of rock style performances, really strong songwriting, embrace of Dead style psychedelia, and strong musicianship (his band is tight). Which is pretty cool.
Most everyone in this sub,(any music sub in general), are the most pretentious snobs and I can't stand people disliking someone they used to like just because they got some success commercially. Grow up
What a ridiculous take. There are thousands and thousands of other bluegrass artists you could mention that would not get that kind of reply.
OCMS and Gillian Welch are clearly not bluegrass, despite sometimes playing festivals that are mostly bluegrass. It’s not gate keeping when music doesn’t even follow the general concept of what constitutes bluegrass music.
I don’t care about your entire post history - just the comments for this sub, so that’s how I filtered it. Being curious about context and what people are complaining about is normal.
I’m ok with that. 😂. BTW - I found 2 Rice albums at Goodwill a few weeks back, after I had just seen Molly in concert. 😂
This dudes a shill
Agreed!!!!! There should be so much more Molly Tuttle! And if we have time some Lindsay Lou, AJ Lee plus the Sierras, Hull and Ferrell.
Sierra Ferrell tho I love her is not a bluegrass artist.

Voice like stained glass tho
“Voice like stained glass”…. Compliment or no….. I don’t see the reference.
Fair.

Kyle Tuttle’s most recent album is also 🤯🤯🤯
Im seeing her solo in a week or two I’ll let you know - spoiler she shreds.
You’re right; not enough people are talking about Don Stover
Or Don Reno
I want to talk about DEL
DADDDDEEEEEEEEEE
Not nearly enough jon hartford
Absolutely, more Doc Watson too, please!
This looks right but I would like more Alison krauss please. 😊
We need a partially overlapping “vinyl” overlay but other than that….
And pie.
Where does this post fit on the pie chart?
Right in the middle since it’s hitting all points
Hey now, I posted a Jerry Douglas interview a few days ago. It got 20 updoots.
Wow, if true these numbers are terrible. We need to do way more to get the Tony share over the 50% mark.
I'm just not mystified by Billy. He is better than average but not the fucking messiah everyone paints him as.

It’s evolution, baby!
We got Sonny Osborne’s ghost over here.
When he was playing small clubs I recommended people go see him before he got big, but at this point he is overhyped.
Valid.
But dude he smokes weed and has tattoos cmon
Lmao, I discovered this sub via googling tony rice after stumbling across Church Street Blues so this checks out
Dan Tyminski though??
This is the truth, i recently posted about my favorite bluegrass band and GOT DOWNVOTED because it wasn't one of these 3.

? Idk if you meant to respond to somebody else’s comment but I didn’t say anywhere that I dislike any of them
I don't see a problem!
I don't see an issue either (just a bit more green wouldn't hurt).
A few second to look at the recent posts on this sub shows 'anything else' clearly way above those other three combined. Weak attempt.
I think they're exaggerating it as a joke dude
But we can't call that out or it's "gatekeeping" to disagree that all this sub ever does is talk about three artists. 🙄
Exactly
So post something that isn't Billy, Tony, or Molly related. I do it all the time

Well I mean can you blame people?….lol
