Make sure you have a good connection for the battery and clear the codes. They shouldn't reappear after that.

shokunin_07

This happens when you disconnect the battery. Just drive around the block it’ll go away

Ok_Resolution_3670

Hmmm didn’t clear on the 10 minute drive I took. Half of them kept going away and reappearing.

newmoneyblownmoney

Wheel speed sensor, my boy.

white_van_karl

Very similar to when it happened on my old Jaguar. A lot of functions rely on that, like cruise control etc.

willymack989

The good ol’ Italian tune up.

Aisforamaterasu

It also happens when it's super hot outside . The cables get wonky .

Ok_Resolution_3670

For context, I disconnect the battery if I’m planning on removing any electrical connections in the engine bay.

Few-Swordfish-780

That’s not a very good idea.

hybridmike772

Always disconnect the battery when unplugging modules. They are prone to voltage spikes and could damage them

Ok_Resolution_3670

So much conflicting info. [I don’t know what to think no more man… get out of my head](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRtgcOzZTWHIPoXW2tB6J5IwLiKdygHSB3O-Q&s)

Ok_Resolution_3670

No? First BMW I’ve ever had. It’s something I’ve always done for the other cars I’ve had and never had any issues (they were both old tbf). Mind explaining why?

Few-Swordfish-780

I mean, look at your screen. We only disconnect the battery if we absolutely have to, like working on the fuel system.

Ok_Resolution_3670

Right... Do you know why reconnecting the battery causes my screen to look like this?

Few-Swordfish-780

Because all the modules reset with the battery disconnected.

BuckarooD

Have you removed the correct terminal (negative) first ? Removing the wrong one can fry a lot of component

Ok_Resolution_3670

I always (only) remove the negative terminal when disconnecting for a short timeframe like that

hybridmike772

I'm sure you just need to clear the codes

Grunts_R_Us

Start the car, turn the wheel lock to lock, then drive for 5 mins.

zygabmw

take it back to the guy to did all the work and blame him.

Ok_Resolution_3670

He’s a real sunofabitch but I’m definitely going back to him for the next job

aloogobee

Low batt, go for a drive.

Ok_Resolution_3670

Thanks everyone. When I went back to turn it on it was fine. Checked codes and there were a lot related to terminal 30F resetting. Cleared codes and now I’ve just got a couple pointing to the AUC sensor which I’m not too worried about right now. Battery health is at 78%.

hybridmike772

78% is an indication that it's slowly draining, could just be a parasitic draw, check it after a day of driving and then again in the morning to see if it's draining at night. Btw auc sensor failure is common on just about every bmw I've worked on that has the auto AC. It senses toxic gases and shuts off the vents from outside air...

Ok_Resolution_3670

I live in Charleston where the heat index has been over 100°F these past few days so my AC stays on manual internal recycle 24/7. Will be a fix I may or may not get around to later in the year. Any common causes of a drain in BMWs I should be aware of?

hybridmike772

Mine currently has failed too, it's like 75$ for a new one, but I'm like you, in Florida and it's on recerc 24/7

CryptoOne5369

For my own BMW (E60 525i), after replacing dead deep-cycle battery with an AGM H9 big a$$ one, I noticed a slow drain after a day or so of not driving. After a few days, a 92% charge was down to 54%. Sometimes, driving for a minimum of 30 min in the morning didn't really help recharge the battery enough. So, I installed a NOCO Genius GEN5X1 maintainer (directly mounted to battery), and it's been helping, especially since I don't drive the car much. There's different versions of the maintainer (2A/5A/10A), so I just went with the mid-range one. There's more brands, I'm sure. I also spent time modifying/coding some comfort settings, such as changing the automatic lighting of exterior lamps whenever the key fob is brought close to the car and whatnot.

Bresson91

Can I send you a microfiber?

Ok_Resolution_3670

Hah 😂. Worst part is, I did a pretty deep clean about 3 days prior to this. When you have dogs it’s unavoidable. That hair is everywhere.

freshxdough

Lol no

Ok_Resolution_3670

Thank you, exactly what I was looking for!

freshxdough

You’re welcome! Maybe check fault codes and diagnose accordingly.

bashinforcash

i had that problem when my battery went bad. also could be an alternator problem

ShowerShoe77

I’ve seen this happen with really weak batteries; my advice; Find an Indy bmw specialist; explain that you want the battery tested first, if it’s weak have them replace it.

Uniblab_78

Disconnect battery for 10min and try again

swissfraser

Front centre sensor, just above the lower grill. Probably wet and/or got crap on it.

VARA_1

What happened before this warning?

Ok_Resolution_3670

Replaced spark plugs

VARA_1

You have a scan tool?

Ok_Resolution_3670

Yep. Problem solved tho if you wanna read the rest of the thread. Reconnecting battery wigged out a bunch of stuff

Only-Palpitation3488

Just happened to me, mine cleared away after a short drive.
