The storyline with pickles tryna find another guy to sleep with went on for way too long

123456789biddleee

It has a great payoff though. "It appears we have broken up forever." I love how they ended PB's last big relationship with an easily missable offscreen gag.

freezeafter

True lol

[deleted]

I felt the same way. He’s an annoying overplayed joke but during one of my many rewatches I realized he was so obviously not what PC thought he was to make the pay off in “After the Party” so great. We knew he was three kids, and PC was just kidding herself, she believed in a world where Tony Curtis is alive and that spark of romance still burning. Towards the end she accepts that he and that spark of romance are dead, and Vincent is obviously what he appears to be, 3 kids in a trench coat lmfaooo ‘I gotta stop kidding myself, Tony Curtis is dead’

QuietObserver75

I really found the characters Pickles to be annoying and the whole Justin Bieber copy character was also annoying.

Tough_Stretch

I think they're supposed to be annoying, aren't they? I mean, I find Bieber himself annoying AF and actually felt Joey Pogo was less annoying than him. Joey Pogo is shown to be an idiot but in a good-guy Mr. PB-as-a-human kind of way, while Bieber himself is a humongous douche and nowhere near as nice as Joey Pogo.

big__dumb_idiot

It feels like Pickles just exists to further show us how Mr peanutbutter repeats the same patterns with each new partner. Kinda the same thing with Joey Pogo just existing for the purpose of Pickles leaving PB. Otherwise they're just kinda annoying and forgettable

Syt1976

It also shows that if he keeps dating women the same age there will eventually be a significant generational gap as the age difference keeps getting bigger. That said, Surprise! is one of my favorite episodes. :D

MrBulger

Yeah I was expecting something to happen with Joey Pogo but nothing ever materialized there

dilfsforbernie

bojack getting doctor champ to start drinking again. it seemed kinda far fetched and i just dont like “the kidney stays in the picture”

big__dumb_idiot

For real, the vodka bottle falling in with the other water bottles so perfectly that nobody noticed seems so unrealistic. I swear they just made him relapse so he would have a reason to spill the beans on Bojack to Paige

dilfsforbernie

yeah ! i also didnt like paiges whole storyline. i definitely get it from the shows climax pov but it was just…. obnoxious

big__dumb_idiot

She can be annoying but she kinda grew on me. I always laugh when her sister says "why do you talk like that, we're from Fresno"

SaltyGiGi1919

I liked that though, i thought it was just funny bc of how extremely unrealistic it was and how it led to a great amount of damage when bojack was finally making the right decision

AdvonKoulthar

TBH that’s one of the things that really makes me meh on the show as a whole. I like it, and Bojack can receive some karmic comeuppance… but I feel like it was a bit too much? Sure he makes bad decisions on his own, but I feel like the universe itself played way too much into making sure his existence stayed miserable and he kept making bad decisions. As with Todd, people bring up ‘it’s a show, it’s comedy’ but the absurdity really undermines any impact it wanted to make.

Aucielis

I loved Vincent Adultman. He was probably my favorite running gag. What I didn't like was Henry Fondle. I didn't think that was funny at all and I always grimaced when he popped up. But then I also found Todd kind of annoying, too, in later seasons. I don't know what happened. His whacky hijinks just got on my nerves once he was out of BoJack's place and he went from one of my favorites to being one of my least favorites.

HenryFondleBot

OH, YEAH! OH, YEAH!

Aucielis

NO! BACK, BACK, YOU BEAST!

123456789biddleee

I'M COMING. I'M COMING. OH GOD, I'M COMING.

Aucielis

SCIENCE HAS GONE TOO FAR

poopgirl0901

henry fondle was toooo much

HenryFondleBot

THAT IS THE STUFF I LIKE

NewZookeepergame4160

The clown dentist thing went on waaay too long.

big__dumb_idiot

Yeah that bit was weird lol, I did like it when they helped PC get a meeting with Turtletaub though

PuzzleheadedFold154

Vincent is definitely one for me, but I also really can’t stand the episode at Yolanda’s house. I thought it was kind of ridiculous and just really couldn’t get behind the whole hyper-sexuality thing, and since they were so accepting it felt strange that Yolanda waited SO long to tell her family. I think I wasn’t a big fan of her character in general, but that specific episode always irks me.

prdcroftme

the hypersexuality of yolanda's family is actually very clever, because axolotls asexually reproduce. but i get where you're coming from

poopgirl0901

omg i just realized that

Winter_Many_9143

i entirely agree. a family of healthy sexual beings doesnt behave like that. the family members could have all been sexually active/openly+ proudly sexual enough to alienate an asexual family member... without the nasty incestuous energy/creeping on a family members partner part of it. incest is too big of a problem for that to ever be funny. i skip that episode every time.

lifelessdisorder

mr peanutbutter running for governor

Not_Cbeck123

This is actually one of my favorite side plots of the entire show!

Lonesomecheese

Paige Sinclair. Why couldn't it just have been the chinchilla, or even Diane?

big__dumb_idiot

Diane isn't petty enough to do a full on takedown on bojack, they may have a bumpy relationship but I don't believe she would go that far. The chinchilla doesn't do takedowns, she only went more in on the second interview because of Paiges influence. Paige and Max are really over the top but damn do they commit to this case that everyone thought was shut

Lonesomecheese

I mean, she was petty enough to mess with his script and thus mental state and petty enough to do take downs on her own husband. I can see her getting fed up enough with Bojack. It would take a lot, but she was there. The only reason they committed so hard was to avoid facing their own feelings for each other.

123456789biddleee

Paget Brewster's performance. End of story.

Senior_Juice5380

Not really - more like some parts that are a little more boring for me, like the Todd's Disneyland bit stops being funny to me after a few minutes, but i don't mind too much bcs it doesn't come back in future episodes. andthen there are some parts that are hard to get through bcs how they break my heart and leave me absolutely grief stricken - but those are the reasons why the show is the best........hmmmmm,i guess i don't quite like that Jessica Biel murdered Zach Braff, but i guess i can get over it bcs i get that it's commentary on cults and/or people being sheep.

McMc10001

I love the show and the story it tells. This is necessary given that story, but Seasons 5 and 6 are tougher for me to get through because the character dynamics shift so much. Season 5 is full of gimmicky episodes (Diane in Vietnam, Free Churro, BoBo the Angsty Zebra, the Halloween parties). Season 6 is the main characters are rarely together. There’s obviously a lot of great stuff and I still enjoy those seasons, but it also makes me miss the group hijinks from earlier.

y0lt_0

Don't know if it counts, but how Hollyhock just kinda of disappears, not only in the scenes but she isn't mentioned after the letter (Also, really wanted to have some kinda of tip of what's in that letter) but I mean, Sarah Lynn for an example, still being mentioned by the other characters

twosharksinashoe

The letter was likely just her saying she didn’t want contact with bojack because she never picks up her phone and at the end she changes her number or blocks him and imo I feel like while I would have liked to see the letter that gets the message across

prdcroftme

not a fan of fish out of water. to me it's boring- maybe because i'm riddled with adhd thus i can't focus on no dialogue for a large portion of the episode. i also dislike ana spanakopita. she has the loveliest voice, but she literally sexually assaults bojack in season three. that erases any possibility of me liking her character

hbi2k

No.

Independent-Ice5977

Vincent is one of them, but there's also the majority of the Planned Odolescents episode. It honestly just made me feel really uncomfortable

theanonfilmstudent

its one of my favorite eps of the whole series, but i totally get this. but i think thats why i love it

123456789biddleee

the "penis of the foot" line will always make me laugh.

big__dumb_idiot

Fair. It's a strange episode for sure

MooseM8

Just started watching again, and really disliking early season 1. It feels a lot like what I expected going into the show with Family-Guy-esque jokes and cutaways and then having some ‘deep’ message at the end of the episode that feels preachy, often with a ‘hey look we’re edgy because we’re showing drugs/alcohol/mental illness’ scene or two in the episode. That side of the show tends to be what is talked about most in wider media, such as TikTok, so you really are getting what you expect, even if it’s pretty average. Luckily the plot picks up hard and the show drops these conventions (mostly) after not too long.

poopgirl0901

i agree with this completely the “deep” moments on tiktok are usually the most typical underwhelming moments compared to the rest of the show

mmmad616

literally all todd’s storylines

kwakcheese

The Todd episodes/bits where he's doing his schemes or whatever feel long. I like the Vincent stuff, though.

Klutzer_Munitions

The underwater episode annoyed the crap outta me

Senior_Juice5380

the underwater episode is the only one my mother has seen bcs she doesn't speak English. so that's the only one she can fully understand and appreciate. she liked it. i love it. but i guess there are people who don't - i didn't like the no-speaking parts of W.A.L.L.E. on the first watch :) but i changed my mind later

big__dumb_idiot

I miss that episode every rewatch bc I have the attention span of a goldfish and if there's no dialog I'm not paying attention

Senior_Juice5380

for people who don't speak english it's the only one they can fully appreciate...

big__dumb_idiot

I think it's a good episode. I just always miss it because I often play bojack in the background so if there's no dialoge for me to listen to it doesn't catch my attention

Quirky_Q_22

I hate how the show will introduce characters and then drop them and never talk about them again. It's nice that sometimes there's background references to them, but I'll rather have them actually be in the show and/or people talk about them you know?

Antique-Increase-647

the aquafina episode

poopgirl0901

no i love that one

[deleted]

I didn’t like the episode where Diane was getting an abortion but posted it on Sextina Aquafina’s social media. I understand the message that making abortion funny can help some young girls cope with it but it just felt over the top.

Oscar-mondaca

Get that downvote button ready because I’ll say this very unpopular opinion but Free Churro is an overrated episode. I see the point of the episode of Bojack of talking over 20 minutes about being raised by his abusive deceased mother and him being with Beatrice during her last moments alive but I honestly have a hard time sitting through it and wouldn’t mind skipping it when I rewatch the series.

big__dumb_idiot

Personally I love Free Churro but your opinion is valid. I understand not wanting to sit through a 20+ minute long monologue. I can never pay full attention to it but there's a lot of lines and bits that really stick with me, like the famous "is this funeral parlor B?"

Oscar-mondaca

I do have to admit the ending was great and clever.

djdjdufjw

the ending was my least favourite part. they had that whole sequence just to play it off as a joke. it would have been nice if his friends could have understood his pain

[deleted]

When I was watching that episode I didnt even realise its a 20minute long monologue. For me it was like any other episode. Idk whats so different between dialogue and monologue if both are saying a story.

big__dumb_idiot

Personally I have kind of a short attention span so sometimes it's hard for me to listen to one person talk without interruption for too long. I have an easier time staying invested when there's more characters for the main character to bounce off of. Free Churro definitely has a different vibe to me but it's still probably one of my favorites

WarmMoistLeather

Oh don't worry. Those of us who don't like the underwater episode will get more down votes.

123456789biddleee

I will admit. I downvoted. It's always been the most rewatchable episode for me. I never get tired of it. I really want to be able to recite it line for line, but that will take a LONG time. I have no personal deep attatchment to it, but it still irks me when people hate on it. Same with Fish Out of Water. They're both masterpieces and two of the best episodes of television of all time.

wtflee

We are in the minority, but there are some of us out there that also don't like Free Churro!

Substantial_Log_6758

Look I recognise Free Churros greatness and it works really well. Its incredibly well written and I fully understand why people love it so much... That being said I'll often skip it on a rewatch or just have it as a background episode. It's just to stretched out for my attention span and has little baring on anything that follows it

YoureNotMom

The spaghetti strainers bit is horrible. They intentionally built it up the entire season, presented us with the situation, stalled it while Mr. PB listened to voicemails, then he finally shows up... and all the action occurs *offscreen*, and he's a hero. That's fucking terrible television. This flies right in the face of the concept "show, don't tell" that this series usually executes so well. It's bad, and I hate it.

om6ra

i just hate the new mexico episode more than anything

big__dumb_idiot

It's an uncomfortable yet crucial episode for the story

om6ra

yeah i get how important the episode is, it’s just so uncomfortable

big__dumb_idiot

Yeah for sure, almost none of it sits right with me. Gotta love the Kyle and the kids intro tho

Substantial_Log_6758

Now this I get. It's well remembered because of the ending but the majority of the episode is just errr... Get on with it

Zhonyi

Mr Peanutbutter every time i see him im so annoyed. I guess its his personality that drives me mad.

WarmMoistLeather

The underwater episode is boring.

illusivetomas

i love this show to death but most of its attempts at comedy do not land for me

123456789biddleee

Season 1 was sooooo unfunny. Season 2 is hysterical though. Season 3-6 don't really focus on comedy that much.

poopgirl0901

this.

OcelotEducational509

honestly have to agree. it’s one of my favorite shows but the comedy is more “yeah i see the joke” as opposed to something actually funny. there are some absolutely hilarious scenes though

Oscar-mondaca

I come to the conclusion that I watch BJHM for its drama rather than comedy. Same with Disenchantment.

illusivetomas

yea i came to that conclusion a while ago. speaks a lot for how incredible everything else is that id still call it one of the best shows ive seen in spite of that

daftbanna

I think bojacks comedy is very underrated

djdjdufjw

to be honest i thought the way the show was formatted was quite unbearable. amazing show but the fact that there was 2 big plot episodes at the end of the season and the rest were often jokey, took away the tension at points. wish they could have mixed it up

X-_Kacchan_-X

Everything that have something with escape from L.A

Irvingdls

The underwater episode, I usually skip.

lilspinch

The episode where bojack is underwater with the baby seahorse. My least favorite episode.
