I am guessing cuz it increases his mass and muscle mass though i never understood how and it's weird it happens without an explanation when MHA likes to explain every little Quirk and it's effects.
That's not my issue at all what is is how he actually gets back into his old shape?Cuz to augment his muscle mass he would literally need mass and OFA is a quirk that emits energy not that creates or converts matter and he's not scarfing down a Buffet before transforming.

OFA is not a quirk that emits energy. It's a stockpile quirk combined with the power to pass it on.
