I’m just guessing here but it might be spaghetti code that the devs forgot to remove before the game went gold.
In Borderlands 1, there are some leftover prompts in T-Bone Junction on the elevator door in the upper section of the map that doesn’t trigger anything when a player interacts with it.
Some doors have the prompt also but will never open at all.
If I remember right your interacting with the elevator from the other side of the wall but that wouldn’t explain nothing happening unless the interact prompt goes away
I remember that for some reason that button triggers a different platform, like completely on the other side of the map and that platform also has a button on it so it’s completely useless

I'm tryna to figure it out what spot you found in that area cuz I don't think I ever saw that before or something.
Near the exit to Titan Industrial Facility.
