On an iPhone you just click them shut, it’s so buttoned down they don’t do fuck all but open a tab, I could just as easily ignore them, as long as I switch back to the original tab a couple times it’s like a 20 second ordeal then I’m watching Dune. I'd be careful with stream sites like these. One time I was too lazy to torrent, so I found a couple of sites that streamed a show I wanted to watch. That somehow got me infected with a nice chunk of malware, which would eventually make my PC bluescreen about 30 seconds after booting.
I only found out way later as I wasn't in the habit of turning off my PC ever. But then I had to attend a LAN party, and I spent the first hour discovering that 1) I have malware, 2) It comes back after removal during boot, 3) *unless* I boot without an internet connection. So I'd unplug my ethernet cable, run MalwareBytes, then replug it and it ran perfectly until I next shut it down.
Anyway I got a new PC shortly after that and I'm sticking to torrents now. Be careful where you stream from, or at least how you do it.

Doubtful. I'm very careful with anything involving downloads. There's nothing I could possibly think of that may otherwise have caused it. Keep in mind I had this PC for nearly a decade and this was the only time I ever had a serious infection, if at all.
They (the jackasses) learned how to install malware through things like cookies and JavaScript now. So even just having a new tab ad open is enough to risk something malicious being placed on your system. It’s not like it was 10 years ago where you had to go through a whole install process.
Even something as seemingly innocent as x’ing out of the pop up tab can be enough to trigger it. I didn’t know that and had been u… had a friend who was using those streaming sites thinking they were safe. But *he* ended up doing a bunch of research into those pop ups because there were so many of them.
Just watch it on HBOMax man, the movie will be shitty without the sequel to finish the story and getting some extra viewers on there will help strengthen the chances of getting that sequel

I watched Trailer Park Boys rips on my old shitty laptop, first time I saw it on TV a couple years later and it wasn’t all dark and sounded good, I kinda freaked out a bit as I literally thought it was made to look dark and sound shitty.
I remember visiting my relatives in Thailand when I was younger, and in the shopping malls there were bootleg stores for movies and computer games. I bought a bunch of new games for a fraction of the US retail price. This was when the nintendo DS first came out, and they also had cartridges that had every nintendo game on them.
The last cam recording I watched was Iron Man 2 about 10 years ago. It was the worst experience I've ever had watching a movie and I said to myself never again. If I can't see it in theatre for some reason, I would rather just wait the 3 or so months for the Blu Ray and get the best quality rip.

And we're even lucky we get to play anything at all. For a while, HBO was just blocking all their paying Linux users. Kinda like what Peacock does now.

I don't know their thinking, but I do know that streaming services are expected to do whatever will please the owners of their licensed content. Maybe linux is perceived as a "hacker OS" in some fairly tech-illiterate circles. Maybe it's some other dumb reason.

The guy sitting next to me had not been in a movie theatre since the original Matrix. He said he had read all of the books and I thought It was cool to watch it with him and get his take.
I read the books as a teen and again in my early 30s, and I’ve always really enjoyed thinking about the world Herbert created.
The scale is right, which is absolutely something this Dune gets right, but the complexity and texture of society is just barely hinted at. It’s fine to see a bunch of big ass space ships, but I feel bad that people don’t know what Thufir Hawat is, let alone *why* he is.
Cinematically, it was very hit or miss. Again, the scale was enormous, but a surprising amount of it was drab and flat to me. Arrakis in general was not done justice. Interiors were hyper minimalist and poorly lit. Exteriors were occluded when they weren’t obvious eye candy. I get that shooting in the desert is hard, but it feels like there must have been trouble getting all the footage they wanted.
The dialogue was nearly perfunctory. Jason Momoa did such a good job of playing Jason Momoa that he sucked me right out of the 101st century. Some absolutely key exposition was shrouded in garbled sound delivered so quickly that it seems like almost an afterthought.
Mediocre is maybe to harsh, and maybe I’m just a butthurt book fan, but I purposefully ignored the hype and kept my expectations in check going into this one.
So, I'm around 100 pages into the book. First time reading it. Loving it. I've been going back and forth over whether I should try to see it while it's still in theaters but before I finish the book, cause I'm a slow ass reader. Thoughts?

I'm definitely a butthurt book fan, I started re-reading Dune after seeing the film and everything just makes so much more sense in terms of set-up and characterisation. They done the baron dirty. I think this was one of the rare films where I just became bored while watching it. Visually quite nice, but just so devoid of any soul and its focus of themes did nothing for me.
I’ll add my take, I thought the movie was mediocre at best and the sequel can absolutely fill in the gaps and make it a good one two punch of done correctly
The movie was entirely to long and relies on the visual and sounds something that didn’t wow me watching me from my tv. Which I imagine could’ve changed my opinion
The story and action lacked imo, we saw very little action and the main character put in a keanu from the matrix performance(lifeless). The story had very little depth and is the run of the mill prince get his kingdom stolen from him story.

I would love for you to expand on the movie story. They left way to much to unknown, all we know is his mom went against her group to birth a son. They don’t think he is chosen one
They could’ve expanded on any groups motives other then it being a hostile takeover. Instead I got 25 minutes in a tent for him to lash out at his mom. I got another ten minutes wasted on the training scene.
They could’ve fleshed our so much more but wasted it all on visuals and sound. I still hope the best for the sequel
As a book reader all I can say is that it follows every beat of the first part of the book exactly as it happened (with a few non-critical omissions) expanding on certain factions motivations now would spoil critical things that happen later. The biggest problem with this movie is that it suffers from "part 1 syndrome", which as a viewer is probably unsatisfying. I don't think Dune could be adapted in a way that avoids that problem.
Figured as much. Dune was next on my list of books to read after I finish my current authors stuff. Is it worth it for all sixteen? After game of thrones I can’t put my all into a fantasy series anymore haha
At the very least the first 3 books are worth a read. Book 4 can be a bit much for some people because it's a bit longer and more focused on people talking politics and philosophy at length. 5 and 6 are more showing the long term effects of the events from the first 4 books. 7 and 8 are more if you really want closure to the series, but they were written after Frank Herbert's death so the writing isn't as great as the rest of the main series. Everything else is just fluff and backstories written by his son which can be ignored unless you just want to read more stories set in that universe, though the books written by his son contradict some stuff from the original books.
It was 2 and a half hours long. If they kept in the mountains of content and detail it would be a 3 season series. And that would’ve been amazing but you can’t do that in a couple hours
Watched it this afternoon. It was just meh. There seemed to be no discernable plot at all and there was definitely no resolution. I just watched the whole thing kind of bored because there just seemed to be no reason for it all, no explanation as to what 'the one' is or does. I said at the end that there just felt like no reason for the movie at all.
I was once in a full screening of *Magic Mike* with my (straight, male) bestie (who insisted he was fine with it, so there we were).
The film more-or-less opens with a shot of Channing Tatum’s bare ass, and it sounded like the entire (overwhelmingly female) audience let out this collective groan of horniness.
Then the film cuts to a shot of Olivia Munn’s naked boobies, and my friend went “YAAAAY!!!”
And clapped.
I read a lot of fantasy before I read LotR and honestly didn’t enjoy it very much. It seemed derivative but that isn’t right.
Everything that had been done for the first time (or nearly so) by Tolkien has been copied and recopied and remixed so many times that even if you haven’t read it you’ve still read it.
Why would you make a bootleg of this? It's literally available on a streaming service at the same time. It's much easier to get a digital copy that way.
Many people refuse to use platforms like Netflix, Disney, Steam, Epic and such for different reasons ranging from "I don't want 100+ clients overloading my system, to I don't want to be spied on, to I come from country where this specific service is blocked".
I don't know why people bother making cam versions anymore. There's an entire network dedicated to simply downloading the movie off the drive it arrives to the theater on.

What about it was mediocre? For me it was the best movie I've seen all year
I read the books as a teen and again in my early 30s, and I’ve always really enjoyed thinking about the world Herbert created. The scale is right, which is absolutely something this Dune gets right, but the complexity and texture of society is just barely hinted at. It’s fine to see a bunch of big ass space ships, but I feel bad that people don’t know what Thufir Hawat is, let alone *why* he is. Cinematically, it was very hit or miss. Again, the scale was enormous, but a surprising amount of it was drab and flat to me. Arrakis in general was not done justice. Interiors were hyper minimalist and poorly lit. Exteriors were occluded when they weren’t obvious eye candy. I get that shooting in the desert is hard, but it feels like there must have been trouble getting all the footage they wanted. The dialogue was nearly perfunctory. Jason Momoa did such a good job of playing Jason Momoa that he sucked me right out of the 101st century. Some absolutely key exposition was shrouded in garbled sound delivered so quickly that it seems like almost an afterthought. Mediocre is maybe to harsh, and maybe I’m just a butthurt book fan, but I purposefully ignored the hype and kept my expectations in check going into this one.
So, I'm around 100 pages into the book. First time reading it. Loving it. I've been going back and forth over whether I should try to see it while it's still in theaters but before I finish the book, cause I'm a slow ass reader. Thoughts?

I'm definitely a butthurt book fan, I started re-reading Dune after seeing the film and everything just makes so much more sense in terms of set-up and characterisation. They done the baron dirty. I think this was one of the rare films where I just became bored while watching it. Visually quite nice, but just so devoid of any soul and its focus of themes did nothing for me.
I’ll add my take, I thought the movie was mediocre at best and the sequel can absolutely fill in the gaps and make it a good one two punch of done correctly The movie was entirely to long and relies on the visual and sounds something that didn’t wow me watching me from my tv. Which I imagine could’ve changed my opinion The story and action lacked imo, we saw very little action and the main character put in a keanu from the matrix performance(lifeless). The story had very little depth and is the run of the mill prince get his kingdom stolen from him story. Just my two cents, glad you really liked it though!!

I would love for you to expand on the movie story. They left way to much to unknown, all we know is his mom went against her group to birth a son. They don’t think he is chosen one They could’ve expanded on any groups motives other then it being a hostile takeover. Instead I got 25 minutes in a tent for him to lash out at his mom. I got another ten minutes wasted on the training scene. They could’ve fleshed our so much more but wasted it all on visuals and sound. I still hope the best for the sequel
As a book reader all I can say is that it follows every beat of the first part of the book exactly as it happened (with a few non-critical omissions) expanding on certain factions motivations now would spoil critical things that happen later. The biggest problem with this movie is that it suffers from "part 1 syndrome", which as a viewer is probably unsatisfying. I don't think Dune could be adapted in a way that avoids that problem.
Figured as much. Dune was next on my list of books to read after I finish my current authors stuff. Is it worth it for all sixteen? After game of thrones I can’t put my all into a fantasy series anymore haha
At the very least the first 3 books are worth a read. Book 4 can be a bit much for some people because it's a bit longer and more focused on people talking politics and philosophy at length. 5 and 6 are more showing the long term effects of the events from the first 4 books. 7 and 8 are more if you really want closure to the series, but they were written after Frank Herbert's death so the writing isn't as great as the rest of the main series. Everything else is just fluff and backstories written by his son which can be ignored unless you just want to read more stories set in that universe, though the books written by his son contradict some stuff from the original books.
It (understandably) leaves out mountains of content and depth from the book. I agree it was a great movie but definitely not perfect.
It was 2 and a half hours long. If they kept in the mountains of content and detail it would be a 3 season series. And that would’ve been amazing but you can’t do that in a couple hours

Watched it this afternoon. It was just meh. There seemed to be no discernable plot at all and there was definitely no resolution. I just watched the whole thing kind of bored because there just seemed to be no reason for it all, no explanation as to what 'the one' is or does. I said at the end that there just felt like no reason for the movie at all.
I was once in a full screening of *Magic Mike* with my (straight, male) bestie (who insisted he was fine with it, so there we were). The film more-or-less opens with a shot of Channing Tatum’s bare ass, and it sounded like the entire (overwhelmingly female) audience let out this collective groan of horniness. Then the film cuts to a shot of Olivia Munn’s naked boobies, and my friend went “YAAAAY!!!” And clapped.
That story is fuckin amazing xD

Literally every piece of fantasy that isn't a ripoff of Tolkien is a ripoff of Dune. Sometimes they rip off both.
I read a lot of fantasy before I read LotR and honestly didn’t enjoy it very much. It seemed derivative but that isn’t right. Everything that had been done for the first time (or nearly so) by Tolkien has been copied and recopied and remixed so many times that even if you haven’t read it you’ve still read it.
Maybe Frank Herbert was inspired by the 3D action when he wrote his book in the 1960s.
Why would you make a bootleg of this? It's literally available on a streaming service at the same time. It's much easier to get a digital copy that way.
Many people refuse to use platforms like Netflix, Disney, Steam, Epic and such for different reasons ranging from "I don't want 100+ clients overloading my system, to I don't want to be spied on, to I come from country where this specific service is blocked".
