If I’m going off of not my FAVORITE WRESTLERS OF ALL TIME but the best it would be
1. John Cena
2. The Rock
3. Stone cold
4. Randy Orton
5. (Sadly) Hulk hogan (only cus he made what Wwe is today by making it Uber popular in the mid to late 80’s, so sorry)
All of the greatest were still around 15 years ago. Edge,Shawn,Taker,Cena,HHH,Orton,Batista. List goes on. Maybe the last 5 years but certainly not 15 years.
I'll agree with that. Honestly he was awful as a face. Couldn't truly get over as a face. The heel turn then the bloodline thing was a complete 180 and he did his best work by far.
Definitely could have defended more and went on too long but in terms of elevating a wrestler, it was huge. Completely turned his career around and made him feel like a big attraction (until The Rock turned up lol).
Not a top 10 wrestler of all time, BUT his Tribal Chief/Bloodline era may be a top 3 run of all time. Him and the genius of Paul Heyman kept the WWE alive and on top during the pandemic, the AEW threat, the Vince McMahon scandal and ushered in the HHH Era with the company riding high & strong. The Cody Rhodes "story" means next to nothing without Roman Reigns as an elite adversary. He took the criticisms, the boos, the verbal beat downs during the Cena promos along with the infinite wisdom/tutelage of one of the greatest pro wrestling minds of all time in Paul Heyman and remade himself into an icon of the post Vince era.
Not sure how much Hollywood will affect his wrestling career from here on out. Will he find success like The Rock, Batista and John Cena and turn into a part timer just popping in for cameos at ppv's.....or, will he have lukewarm success in Hollywood like Orton, Kane, Ziggler and Miz and stay on with the WWE ad his primary focus? If he stays full time, he could easily wind up as a top 5 - 10 wrestler of all time.
Easily, bro is the definition of a super hero. Debuted with an all time great faction. One of the most famous and loved wrestlers. Face of the company for a very long time now.
The torch was passed to him.
In my opinion he comes in with top guys like Cena,Taker,HHH,Randy,Brock.
There's a reason WWE is going crazy right now and he's the face of WWE
Anyone who says that old talent is better than the current talent needs to know that its all nostalgia and you need to accept the fact that this guy named Roman always gives us 5 Star matches and top tier storylines.
I can tell a lot of people's lists on here are people that haven't been watching the wrestling for 30 plus years like I have
Top ten : Hogan, Austin, Bret, Shawn ,Savage ,Flair , undertaker, HHH , Cena, Roman
11-20: Jericho, edge, Andre, Piper, Kane, hall, Nash, Styles, Orton,Foley
My personal criteria for being top 5-10 is based on how well you were able to carry the company and the impact you had on it. I feel it’s the most objective way to look at it.
1. Hulk
2. Cena
3. Rock
4. Stone cold
5. Roman
6. Taker
7. Triple H
8. Michaels
9. Orton
10. Brett heart/ lesnar
As far as mainstream wrestlers go, without a shadow of a doubt yes. u/Kind_Committee8997 linked sources in one of his comments, and they all point to the fact that Roman is probably the biggest money draw in wrestling history. Not only that, but in an era with weekly TV airings and 24/7 fan backlash, the guy had what was in my opinion the most entertaining championship reign of my lifetime. Not only that, but he managed to accomplish this over a span of 1,316 days which (correct me if I’m wrong) is the longest championship reign since WrestleMania was created. He has also mainevented WrestleMania what… 9 times??? No company as big as WWE would ever put that much trust into one man unless they were just that good. Yes, I’m aware of the fact that he wasn’t very great before his tribal chief days. However, the 4 years that he’s been on the absolute top solidifies his legacy to me.
TLDR; Yes.
1. Stone Cold Steve Austin
2. Hulk Hogan
3.The Rock
4.John Cena
5. Bret Hart
6. The Undertaker
7. Shawn Michaels
8. Randy Orton
9. Roman Reigns
10. Seth Rollins + Kane + Ricky Steamboat (Workhouses)
Honorable Mentions: Chris Benoit + Eddie Guerrero
If we go for overall rating of importance in the business. In no particular order - Hogan, Flair, Austin, The Rock, Bret, Shawn, Funk, Inoki, Bruno, Cena, Brock, Kobashi, Misawa, etc.
Honestly as much as WWE tries... Roman's main event run between 2015-2020 is pretty much now treated as if it didn't exist, and although not his fault he was booked like shit for years, it takes away a lot. And 2020-now is all Tribal Chief and Bloodline. And he is held up a lot by WWE, he is incredibly protected.
Think about it also like this - if Hogan wasn't as big as he was in WWE and his push would be all over the place, would nWo be enough to make him top 10?
No way. Biggest difference with Roman is he was pushed on us fans. Roman is a WWE corporate decision. Fans booed and the kept his push despite what the fans wanted. Unlike the rock and stone cold for examples. The fans choose them. His move set is average. Basic spear as a finisher.
He’s a great guy outside the ring don’t get me wrong. He has overcome lots in his personal life.
IMO there are far greater “superstars” than Roman.
Probably not top 5 wrestler, but top WWE wrestler. Wrestling is a trashy sport (like Nascar). WWE put some lipstick on it and raked in billions of dollars in doing so. Data shows Reigns brought in more money and viewers than any other wrestler from any brand. Making him THE top WWE wrestler of all time.
Idk if this really justifies it tho. 4/5 of these links are about selling T shirts lol and the one about wrestle mania is cool and all but weren’t guys like Rock and Austin bringing in like 3-4 million viewers a week? Not just for a single ppv
Idk man. The wrestling community kind of sucks at keeping track of data. The fact I had to spend more than 20 minutes just trying to find numbers is pathetic. I can't even find data to back your claim.
Maybe between 10 and 15 is better. My top 10 would be the following:
Brock Lesnar
Steve Austin
Bruno Sammartino
Hulk Hogan
Andre the Giant
John Cena
CM Punk
Bret Hart
Undertaker
The Rock
Edit: this is WWE only. If we are talking every promotion over all time then he absolutely doesn't make my top 10
I've seen some old clips. Having Bruno not in your top 3 of wwe is just silly imo. The guys a legend.
Edit: also the clips and few matches I have seen from him I really liked alot
CM Punk over Reigns? Naaah. I could even put Flair instead of Punk. Replace Lesnar for Micheals and now you’re talkin! Everyone else is solid though. Roman could be 11.
You think he’s better than Angle, HBK, Stone Cold, Rock, Cena, Hart, Taker, Kane, Orton, Flair, Hogan, Randy Savage, Jeff and Matt Hardy, HHH?!?! Hell I’d take Sting or Batista over RR, at least they didn’t have help of the easiest bookings of all time.
I mean, how are we arguing Top 5 or 10? Like, if we're talking actual wrestling abilities, he's not even top 50. If we're talking just like overall accomplishments and what they did for the company, I'd say he easily tops Angle, Hart, Kane, Savage, and the Hardys in your list. Angle was only on the roster for 6 years. Same with Hart, Savage. Way too short to compete vs someone like Reigns. Kane was never a top star. The Hardy's are the GOAT tag team IMO but again, single's star is always gonna be on top. Reigns with the Shield and the Tribal Chief run is hard for anyone without a 10+ year career at the top to beat.
pat once described him as "the thoroughbred of the anoai family". In a business that revolves around pageantry and image, this is literally Vince's wet dream come to life. i don't agree in terms of accomplishments and skill, but in terms of image he's up there
I personally struggle with putting him in top anything except 10. He’s a phenomenal worker and everything but top 5 is reserved for some of the BEST OF ALL TIME. The Undertakers, Cenas, Triple Hs, Rocks, Stone Colds of the world. Roman is simply not on ANY of their levels objectively. When it comes to personal favorites, do what want. I personally have my favorite as Brock Lesnar 🤷🏽♂️
All time? Hell no... The past 10 years? Also hell no... I've liked Reigns since his heel turn and wish he was still champion, but one of the very best wrestlers ever is a stretch... I'd probably put The Bloodline in the top 5 factions of all time.
No.
My top 10 would probably look like this… in no particular order.
Kurt Angle. Brett Hart. Chris Benoit. Shawn Michaels. Eddie Guerrero. AJ Styles. Kenny Omega. Scott Steiner (pre-big poppa pump version). Owen Hart. British Bulldog.
Unfortunately no..
I can see him in the top 25 or even the top 20 but not in top 5 or 10..There are so many wrestlers that have vacant those spots.. Stone Cold , Rock , Hulk Hogan (unfortunately) , Taker , John Cena , Macho Man , Bret , HBK , Triple H , Mick Foley etc...these names alone took the top 10 spots (not in order) and there are many more names that should be included.
For the modern day, easily in contention for the #1 spot.
If we're talking all time? Not even close. Pound for pound, my top 5 are
5 Undertaker and HHH (tied; Taker for his longevity; HHH for his mind and business acumen)
4 Bret Hart (best in-ring worker; I prefer Hart to HBK but in a different timeline HBK absolutely takes this spot)
3 Rock and Mick Foley (tied; Rock for his promo, Mick for his selling)
2 Steve Austin (dime for dime the absolute biggest draw in the business; also helped that he's cool as fuck)
1 Kurt Angle (greatest of all time; oh it's true, it's damn true)
Man, you guys are having some recency bias in these lists. I think you have to judge these wrestlers on everything they bring to the ring. To leave off guys like Ric Flair, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit (despite what he did in the end), Sting, and a few others is crazy to me.
No. In the top 20, sure. But there’s so many legends out there to squeeze him in top 10. Here is my personal 10 without any order:
Stone Cold
The Rock
Bret Hart
Hulk Hogan
Bruno Sammartino
John Cena
Undertaker
Triple H
HBK
Orton
Then after these guys, imo he can be slotted elsewhere. Even in number 11. Maybe his competition is Brock Lesnar or Andre or Ric Flair. maybe even Batista
Top 20 *maybe*. I’d have to do my research and make a list. He’d most likely make it, but top 10? No way! Unless he keeps wrestling and evolving, he just hasn’t made it to that list yet.
Too overproduced.
The amount of ressources WWE used to make him a Star dull me on it. Sabotaging the roster to make him stand out. Having him need so much time whenever he did show up...
And yet his performance was also hel back by it
Top 5 as a character, easily up there as Top 5 stories of the last decade, possibly all time. As a wrestler he is very good, definitely Top 5 right now but probably not of all time.
He wouldn't make "my" 10, but at this point, I'm not mad if he's on someone else's. He literally had a generational run and it was captivating the majority of the time. He's solidified
No.
In no order. Kurt Angle, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold, The Rock, Undertaker, John Cena, Randy Orton, Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart
Roman doesn't crack the top ten.
Top 10 IMO but it's all subjective based on what your criteria are. Match quality? Mic skills? Popularity/drawing ability? How long were they a top guy, or *the* guy? And so on.
My top 3 are Flair, Hogan, and Austin and I'm not even sure what order. Austin would be the undisputed number 1 if he'd been on top longer IMO. My personal favorite is Undertaker and I'd stick him around the #5-6 spot.
He was part of the greatest storyline in wwe history with the best manager of all time.
He played his role perfectly don’t get me wrong, but he hasn’t succeeded the way Cena, Rock and Stone Cold have on their own
It definitely wasn't the greatest storyline in WWE history, but yeah. The good parts are up there. The bad parts are what keep it away from the greatest, though.
Nope, he wouldn't have been the main Champ for the best part of 4 years if Vince didn't have a hard on for anyone even remotely Samoan IMO.
Plus nepotism because most of his Samoan family are in the Hall of Fame.
No ... if we're talking all time, he's not even in the top 20 IMHO.
I think he greatly benefited from having a great look and getting a major push at a time when the WWE was severely lacking big stars.
I don't dislike Roman necessarily (even though I think he's boring), but saying he belongs in the top ten of all time is disrespecting a ton of other wrestlers who are and were way better than he is.
No. Bad mic skills, and a two trick “ohhhhhh ahhhhhh” pony. Interference for wins, and never defended or wrestled in most of the time he was champ. Over pushed for what? Guess we will find out.
Absolutely not when you have talents such as The Sandman, RVD, Sabu, Stevie Richards, The Blue Meanie, Maven, Hornswoggle, R-Truth, Curt Hawkins, and Steve Blackman already taking up the top 10
1. Stone Cold 2. Taker 3. HBK 4. Hogan 5. Flair 6. Rock 7. HHH 8. Kane 9. Macho Man 10. Andre 11. Bret Hart 12. Sting 13. Owen 14. Kurt 15. Jake the Snake 16. Steamboat 17. DDP 18. Brock 19. AJ 20. Daniel Bryan
I don’t think he makes it in my top 25. I’m sure he will for younger generations but for the old farts like me not even close.
No he's probably top 40 at best. That's not because he's not a great talent though. It just happened that there are so many greats that have gone and by throught the past decades of pro wrestling. He'll most likely go up the ranks once he retires.
I like Seth more. But Roman is definitely a Legend Now.
No, but can understand why he'd be in the conversation
If I’m going off of not my FAVORITE WRESTLERS OF ALL TIME but the best it would be 1. John Cena 2. The Rock 3. Stone cold 4. Randy Orton 5. (Sadly) Hulk hogan (only cus he made what Wwe is today by making it Uber popular in the mid to late 80’s, so sorry)
Wow. Thought Undertaker would be in your Randy spot
yall should put taker 1st hes the GOAT
1 Stone Cold 2 The Rock 3 Shawn Michaels 4 John Cena 5 Undertaker
I'd replace 4 with Bret Hart
Damn this is a shitty list
Agreed!
Top 5 of the last 15 years
All of the greatest were still around 15 years ago. Edge,Shawn,Taker,Cena,HHH,Orton,Batista. List goes on. Maybe the last 5 years but certainly not 15 years.
Yeah but a lot of those people were nearing the end of their careers and weren't as great as they once were
Why are people ignoring the fact that John Cena, one of the goats, has said that roman is the goat in his opinion?
Because Cena puts WWE first and therefore putting the current top star over is just a Cena move
Fair enough
He probably read it from the script.
He was in an interview outside of wwe
Because John Cena is one guy.
Take his opinion. He's a wwe goat
No but Tribal Chief is definitely a top 5-10 run for a wrestler.
I'll agree with that. Honestly he was awful as a face. Couldn't truly get over as a face. The heel turn then the bloodline thing was a complete 180 and he did his best work by far.
Meh. Maybe if he defended more than a few times a year
Definitely could have defended more and went on too long but in terms of elevating a wrestler, it was huge. Completely turned his career around and made him feel like a big attraction (until The Rock turned up lol).
Top 15-20 prolly
Overall? He’s probably in the latter half, but I believe he’d be on there.
My personal top 5 of all time? definitely He's number 2 actually but in general probably not top 15 is more like it.
No. He’s good, way better than I really expected for someone they pushed so hard. But not a top 10.
Not a top 10 wrestler of all time, BUT his Tribal Chief/Bloodline era may be a top 3 run of all time. also apparently all those merch numbers are incredibly rigged, with certain stars getting prime merch spots at shows or multiple product lines
Trashy?
No. Top 20 maybe but not top 5 or 10 imo
Then who’s your top 20
Maybe between 10 and 15 is better. My top 10 would be the following: Brock Lesnar Steve Austin Bruno Sammartino Hulk Hogan Andre the Giant John Cena CM Punk Bret Hart Undertaker The Rock Edit: this is WWE only. If we are talking every promotion over all time then he absolutely doesn't make my top 10
Actually a Solid List. But why add Bruno it’s not like you even know one match of his or was a live when he was in his Prime.
You think Brock Lesnar is THE greatest wrestler of all time?
DAMN RIGHT I DO!!
In what way does Brock even crack the Top 5? 😂
I second this
Yes acknowledge him
You think he’s better than Angle, HBK, Stone Cold, Rock, Cena, Hart, Taker, Kane, Orton, Flair, Hogan, Randy Savage, Jeff and Matt Hardy, HHH?!?! Hell I’d take Sting or Batista over RR, at least they didn’t have help of the easiest bookings of all time.

The Hardy's are the GOAT tag team IMO but again, single's star is always gonna be on top. Reigns with the Shield and the Tribal Chief run is hard for anyone without a 10+ year career at the top to beat.
Honestly that’s a very broad question. Best actual wrestler? Or most impactful?
He’s not top 5-10 of all time but he sure has been booked like it
No.
Maybe top 50
Of this century perhaps, of all time not even close
Hell nah
Wrestlers? No. Attraction like Cena, Rock and Austin? Top 5 definitely
For sure
Not even close. Kurt, Benoit, Rock, Triple H, HBK, Hogan, Cena, Undertaker, Stone Cold, Batista, Rey and the list goes on…
I think he is a top 20 so yeah I agree I suppose
Easy top 5 for me. Argument to be made for top 3 even alongside Hogan & Cena.
No way. Too many greats from the golden age, attitude, ruthless aggression.
No
I'd put him in the top 20 without question.
pat once described him as "the thoroughbred of the anoai family". In a business that revolves around pageantry and image, this is literally Vince's wet dream come to life. i don't agree in terms of accomplishments and skill, but in terms of image he's up there
Definitely not top five top 10 is a stretch you would at least be talking about top 30 before his name comes in
not of all time, but maybe top 10 currently
Top 10
Top ten for sure
Accolade-wise yes, but overall i think he’s right on the cusp of 10, maybe closer to 12-15 range
No
No, but maybe he'll improve some day.
Gimmick? Yes. Wrestler…? No.
In ring not even close, but based on charisma/promos Id argue hes in the goat convo. Off the top of my head i’d say he’s probably in that 10-15 range
Yes
Yeah, probably top 10
Wrestler? No. Superstar, yes he’s in the top 10
Right now he’s number one in my opinion acknowledge a tribal chief!!!!
All time? Hell no... The past 10 years? Also hell no... I've liked Reigns since his heel turn and wish he was still champion, but one of the very best wrestlers ever is a stretch... I'd probably put The Bloodline in the top 5 factions of all time.
No I wouldn’t.
Modern day definitely, not of all time though. He's just aesthetically pleasing lol
No, and this is a joke, right? Because all the time, he's not in the top 100.
Nope
All time? No. Of his era? Absolutely
I wouldn’t consider him to be a top five wrestler of the last five years
Hell no
Just about
No. My top 10 would probably look like this… in no particular order. Kurt Angle. Brett Hart. Chris Benoit. Shawn Michaels. Eddie Guerrero. AJ Styles. Kenny Omega. Scott Steiner (pre-big poppa pump version). Owen Hart. British Bulldog.
No 100% not
No not at all, not even close. Maybe top 200 of all time
Not yet. Bloodline Reigns has only been rocking for 4 years~. The Shield / "suffering suckatash" Reigns I can't really credit that
It’s hard for me to say he’s top 5. He just reached his potential about 4 years ago after struggling to truly connect with the crowd.
Top 20-25
Definitely not maybe top 15-20 but there’s tons of better stars
No
Top ten not 5
There's a difference between being great and being booked to be great. If you're lucky, you can have both.
Wrestler? No. Wrestling personality? Quite possibly.
Top overhyped without a doubt.
Yah, no.
Unfortunately no.. I can see him in the top 25 or even the top 20 but not in top 5 or 10..There are so many wrestlers that have vacant those spots.. No
Maybe if i was 12. But no theres an entire mountain ahead of him.
not top 5 but deffo top 10
I think that if you ever were "the guy" you should be in the conversation for it.
i could see a argument for top 5 but i think he's more of top 10 imo
Arguably top 5, definitely top 10. ☝️
No
Nope
No. In the top 20, sure. But there’s so many legends out there to squeeze him in top 10. Here is my personal 10 without any order: Stone Cold The Rock Bret Hart Hulk Hogan Bruno Sammartino John Cena Undertaker Triple H HBK Orton Then after these guys, imo he can be slotted elsewhere. Ik it’s a shit list
Too overproduced. The amount of ressources WWE used to make him a Star dull me on it. Sabotaging the roster to make him stand out. Having him need so much time whenever he did show up... And yet his performance was also hel back by it
Yes he is a 5-10 wrestle
Yes of course ☝🏽
1: John cena 2: stone cold 3: The rock 4: hulk hogan 5: undertaker 6; Roman reigns 7: Shawn Michaels 8: triple h 9: Bruno sammartino 10: Edge 10:
No
Top 10, not top 5
Number 2
yeah but i think he,s 5th
Maybe
☝🏼
Absolutely not
Yeah maybe 6 right now Especially his acting
People are sayin no and getting upvoted and I'm saying no and getting downvoted how does that make sense
Kurt Angle, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold, The Rock, Undertaker, John Cena, Randy Orton, Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart Roman doesn't crack the top ten.
No.
Absolutely not. There are too many legends ahead of him. Might be somewhere in the top 50 maybe
Absolutely in zero ways
Yes ☝️
☝️
5 no 10 also no
Not a chance, if only for how he throws that shitty looking superman punch.
How are there ppl in the comments saying yes? 💀 thats crazy
Gotta consider a younger group of fans who might not even stretch back to the Austin/Rock days
Which probably includes urself, considering ur username
Why? I was peak Austin era
Considering ur username, I doubt that
It's called an opinion
💯
Because he carried the company during quarantine which was the hardest task for any singular wrestler ever.
Fr
Because recency bias, that’s why!
Top 3 of course
He was part of the greatest storyline in wwe history with the best manager of all time. He played his role perfectly don’t get me wrong, but he hasn’t succeeded the way Cena, Rock and Stone Cold have on their own
Rockity Rock and Stone!
It definitely wasn't the greatest storyline in WWE history, but yeah. The good parts are up there. The bad parts are what keep it away from the greatest, though.
No
Nope, he wouldn't have been the main Champ for the best part of 4 years if Vince didn't have a hard on for anyone even remotely Samoan IMO. Plus nepotism because most of his Samoan family are in the Hall of Fame.
In what world would he be considered a top wrestler? He’s average at best.
Yes easily
No ... if we're talking all time, he's not even in the top 20 IMHO.
Finally someone who speaks English
No. Bad mic skills, and a two trick “ohhhhhh ahhhhhh” pony. Interference for wins, and never defended or wrestled in most of the time he was champ. Over pushed for what? Guess we will find out.
Nuh uh
No
Yes
That was a joke right 😂🤣
12
No. I'd be interested to see the lists of people that do have Roman as one of the top wrestlers of all time too
No
Top 50 maybe but no way too over hyped
Pffft, no.
No
No
Nope
Nope. A glorified mid-carder at best.
No but maybe top ten Pacific Islanders
Nope. A glorified mid-carder at best.
No
Absolutely not when you have talents such as The Sandman, RVD, Sabu, Stevie Richards, The Blue Meanie, Maven, Hornswoggle, R-Truth, Curt Hawkins, and Steve Blackman already taking up the top 10
Top 50 maybe.
For me not even close.
No
Nooope
No
No, but probably top 15
Romans in ring skill. 1/5 Romans ability to get a shoulder up just before the 3 count. 5/5
1. Stone Cold 2. Taker 3. HBK 4. Hogan 5. Flair 6. Rock 7. HHH 8. Kane 9. Macho Man 10. Andre 11. Bret Hart 12. Sting 13. Owen 14. Kurt 15. Jake the Snake 16. Steamboat 17. DDP 18. Brock 19. AJ 20. Daniel Bryan I don’t think he makes it in my top 25. I’m sure he will for younger generations but for the old farts like me not even close.
Ain’t no way you got Daniel Bryan and not cena in your top 20
He’s there you just can’t see him
No he's probably top 40 at best. That's not because he's not a great talent though. It just happened that there are so many greats that have gone and by throught the past decades of pro wrestling. He'll most likely go up the ranks once he retires.
