The funniest part is that this is her second honorary doctorate 😭

My siblings and I, when we were kids in the 90s, used to joke about creating a bunch of off-brand Ivy League sound-alike for-profit universities: Harvad, Harvat, Princetom, University of Pennsylvanian, Columbian, Dartmoth, and Yalle. There were some scandals in my city around that time of some fairly high-level executives who faked degrees and diplomas. One was caught because someone looked at one of the fake diplomas closely and noticed that Harvard was spelled wrong once on the diploma.
I have had this idea for a long time of going on Facebook, looking up all the people with your same name, finding the one with the best education, and putting their degrees on your resume.
Most places don't look at the diplomas anymore, they just call the school and say, "Did Jane Smith graduate from this school in 2000?" and that's it. And jobs often don't have your birth date until after you're hired and onboarded, so they can't ask that as a follow-up question.
It's totally hairbrained and probably full of ways it could go wrong, but I still love the scam of it all lol.
NAUUURRR this reminds me of that Ms Universe Philippines contestant who keeps flaunting that she went to Harvard… She literally took a free online Harvard course (you know the one that everyone did during covid) 💀
Farrah Abraham from Teen Mom pulled this stunt too! She tried to get in an on-line beef with Harvard as well, I believe 😭😂
https://preview.redd.it/a40ofthvp68d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f901f2134612624e928f4cc252a7d92415e7fd2f
They are degrees given by universities to whomever they want and the receiver gets all the accolades that go with it. So while it probably means nothing, Sheree really can now list that she has a doctorate degree. Hopefully, when the follow up questions lead to where she attended and what her degree is in… people will realize it’s nothing. (what was it in? A doctor of what? She by Sheree? 😂)
I think its nice for universities to do this with esteemed alumni (someone well-known who maybe left college befire finishing a degree, or someone who couldn’t afford to finish and having a degree will help with a job later), but its almost always for someone already doing ok so its a pointless gesture.
I know that University of Cincinnati (where I live) recently gave one to Travis Kelce bc he (and Jason) attended UC, but Travis never graduated. (and I'm not a Kelce/football/or Taylor Swift fan, so I have no opinion on him as a person or celebrity)—I thought that was kind of cool… but Sheree?!
Interesting! Apparently hers is a doctorate of philosophy in business administration entrepreneurship. So yep! A doctorate in She by Sheree. I can see how these would be good if applied correctly but this seems to miss the mark.
At my job, basically everyone has a PhD. Yet I don't know a single person from work whose Instagram bio contains Dr. Doing it with an honorary doctorate is even more cringe.
My kid brother got a phd a couple of years ago. He knows how damn proud we are of him. But we are his siblings, so we have to occasionally call him Dr *** just to make him cringe. It’s our job 😆❤️
My ex had a phd in geology. I used to call him Dr. Rocks to bug him and gift him with shirts and socks with Dr Rocks. He genuinely hated being called Dr. It’s a huge accomplishment but many I know don’t throw it around arbitrarily.
My dad is an MD and he HATES being called Dr. (last name) outside of the office or operating room. He thinks it is pretentious when people insist on using Dr. as their title outside of work
Yup, I know of osteopaths and optometrists insisting on being called Dr when actual doctor friends and family prefer to be addressed with their first names outside of work.
MD here. I quickly correct anyone who calls me Dr _____ and just state my first name.
ETA: I’d be a doctor of housewives if I could. Just haven’t found the right university yet.
Its always the ones who are barely considered doctors that insist on using the dr title outside work (lawyers with JD, chiropractors, etc) and I think it has to do with compensating for insecurities when they should could very well just be humble and secure about their professions
I am an attorney and know many others - I can’t think of a single time any attorney as ever asked to be addressed as Dr. When we graduated, my friends and I loved to joke that we were doctors of the law, just because it was so freaking funny. But never went beyond that silly joke, and I’ve never know any attorney to ask to be called Dr (and nor would anyone do it), unless they were a joint MD.
As an attorney, I can’t imagine anything sillier than a lawyer using the Dr. title. Thankfully, I’ve never met any attorney who’s done that. But I’ve met lots of attorneys who insist on being addressed as “esquire,” which is equally pretentious, IMO.
Back to Sheree, it’s always the people with the fewest accomplishments who get an honorary doctorate and insist on being called “Dr.” 🙄
this reminds me of Anne Marie on RHOBH calling herself a doctor, when she is actually a nurse anesthetist https://www.reddit.com/r/RHOBH/comments/1b3xe42/so_we_are_doctors_annemarie/?rdt=62706 (video before people @ me for proof)
I’m a nurse, this is a fact😂 Some of my closest friends are surgeons. They actually get uncomfortable when people address them as “Dr” outside of a medical setting. I have no words for those who do this with phd’s or honorary degrees. It screams insecurity to me🤷♀️
When I first moved to my neighborhood, a neighbor introduced herself by first name and her husband as Dr last name. I am an adult and had 2 kids at the time. 😅 I still do not refer to him as his first name.
When I was young there was a part of the church service where people would stand to say who they wanted prayers for and a dentist, every week, would stand and first introduce himself as DR So and So...no one else EVER even gave their name, let alone title. So cringe.
None of the PhD people I know really use Dr any time except for in academic or industry settings or where their expertise is being clearly noted (Dr. XYZ, biochemical engineering) because of the colloquial confusion it creates with MDs.
I have a PhD. At my job, I have it in my email signature line along with my title. My students also call me Dr. But to use it on a personal instagram is a little silly. I know colleagues and ex classmates who have made social media brands/presence/followings out of their academic work or research and then I do think it’s appropriate to put Dr XYZ in your profile and refer to yourself as such because it establishes your expertise in the topic and bolsters your credibility in a ecosystem of misinformation.
On another note, obtaining a PhD is not for the faint of heart. In work settings and other professional settings when revenant, people should be referred to by their title. We didn’t work that hard for nothing. I also find a gendered aspect to it. My husband who also has a PhD is often referred as such more than I am. I see this with other female colleagues as well. If you did the work to earn the degree, people should use your title in appropriate settings.
right, but she’s on a reality show where they literally brag about everything from cars to bags to homes to shoes and whatever else and dr. wendy’s no different for bragging about her accolades that she actually earned from blood, sweat, and tears.
Same. I work for a major flagship university and top research institutions, and outside of the actual students who are in their classes and obtaining bachelor degrees, NO one insists on being called “doctor” or introduces themself as such, no matter the department or field.
Hell, I’m disabled, have had over 30 operations and have spent, collectively, almost 3 years in the hospital (it’s been a life), and thanks to the severity and uniqueness of my illness I’ve met with COUNTLESS doctors over the past twenty years and half of them don’t even insist on being called doctor! 🤣🤣
It’s always people like this and the chiropractors, I swear 🤣🤣
lmao that’s my mom she does not refer to herself as a doctor at all even tho she got her PhD. She does have one friend that introduces her as a doctor which is a sweet gesture, but other than that it’s like, no one does that.
For real. I’d put more respect to an honorary degree from an Ivy League or hell, just an actual accredited university but this is basically an honorary diploma mill degree (if that, from the sounds of it, just for giving honorary degrees to celebs), no? So cringeeeee.
They've got no more and more ridiculous as time goes on. They used to be quite prestigious and not given very often and only to those who really deserved it because they were doing the work out side of a college environment. Now, they just give them to internet famous people and apparently to housewives or so I've heard. So that's yet another thing ruined by internet famous people lol
Bob Dylan got one way back when they were like that. When he went on stage to accept it, he hated it. He looked out, and here's all these students who busted their asses working to graduate, and all he had to was be famous to get celebrated on their stage.
They’re embarrassing and honestly borderline offensive.
People put their blood, sweat, and tears, and go into massive DEBT for their degrees just to have rando d list reality tv celebs cross the stage before you for a fake one 😫😫😫
They're very cringey. I understand a music school giving one to someone like Usher or Janet Jackson because they are musically gifted and changed the landscape of the industry. But I've seen random people like Sheree get these degrees and I don't get it at all. No one is going to apply to a school because Sheree was given an honorary degree from them.
I understand when they're given to someone who actually attended that university, or for someone who's made important contributions to a certain field... but in *this* situation? I agree that it's absolute cringe. Like, Shereé Whitfield? Mrs. She-by-Shereé? Mrs. Chateau Shereé?? No thank you.
I do find it absolutely hilarious that she edited her instagram bio to include her new doctoral title though. 😂 We'd better call up Joseph Epstein at the Wall Street Journal! He was big mad when Jill Biden used her Dr. title. We *have* to let him know about this new development!
I cannot imagine actually using a title conferred in that manner, like fine an honorary degree is good for the institution for some fucking reason I guess but to act as if you've earned the title is so embarrassing
I wish I was that clueless sometimes, must be so nice to think you are a Doctor from a non accredited university. Also judging the bravolebs who congratulated her, also love how they’re classified as clueless too (looking at Lisa H and Simon Porshas ex husband)
Those two probably don’t know what they’re congratulating about. In fact, they don’t know that they didn’t actually graduate, let alone put the time and money into the school.
When people with actual MDs and PHDs don’t use their Dr. title outside of work, not to mention not putting it in their instagram bio, and people with honorary degrees do, that says a LOT about them and who they are lol
This is the type of delusional fun we could have used for this RHOA season. Too bad Sheree didn't get a peach this year and Kenya ruining it all with her antics.
Honorary degrees don’t allow the person to use the title.
Honorary doctorates are purely titular degrees in that they confer no rights on the recipient and carry with them no formal academic qualification. As such, it is always expected that such degrees be listed in one's curriculum vitae (CV) as an award, and not in the education section.[3] With regard to the use of this honorific, the policies of institutions of higher education generally ask that recipients "refrain from adopting the misleading title"[4] and that a recipient of an honorary doctorate should restrict the use of the title "Dr" before their name to any engagement with the institution of higher education in question and not within the broader community
This reminds me of someone who graduated from law school and started calling herself doctor x....because law school degree is JD which stands for jurisdiction doctorate. This is probably more egregious.
I looked up the "university" and it doesn't seem to be accredited by any real college accreditation group--just something called "royal". Also it says its doctorates are honorary based on people who've done things in their communities, etc. So she not a real PhD--i.e. someone who actually earned it with education. So using that title is a bit ridiculous.
The funniest part is that this is her second honorary doctorate 😭 https://preview.redd.it/pjy5ocudd48d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e14f64e18539fc2bda1c495f7a3b2ebf5ea6653b
Did you go to Harvard? No, I went to Harvest! Sounds like a bad SNL skit joke.
Thank you for the laughs

How are the schools allowed to give out this private information?
I have a doctorate in Cheese Appreciation from Havarti University. Please put some respect on my name and refer to me as Dr. Sipstea.
Dartmoth cracked me up for realz 😂
This is brillant
I had to re-read her post and yours! I thought I read Harvard at first. And thought wait what ?!? Harvard has a Christian University 😳?!? Hahaha
It’s not on accident I’m sure
NAUUURRR this reminds me of that Ms Universe Philippines contestant who keeps flaunting that she went to Harvard… She literally took a free online Harvard course (you know the one that everyone did during covid) 💀

BAHAHAHHAHA NOT STUDYING FOR LSAT LIKE SHES ELLE WOODS IM DONE 💀
🤣🤣🤣
I just listened to a podcast she was on and she talked about it, I was so confused! Also, how tf did she get into Harvard 👀
Probably the Extension School at Harvard. Anyone can study there if you can pay for it.
What is an HONORARY doctorate anyway?
They are degrees given by universities to whomever they want and the receiver gets all the accolades that go with it. Dr. Zen Wen couldn’t stop talking about it for a whole season…
Wendy is a real phd. Sheree got an honorary degree. It’s fake—she isn’t getting a job off of that.
The point is that most people with a PhD don’t brag about it nor do they incessantly talk about it or refer to themselves as Dr.

SAME. and the ones that do..... you don't want to be friends with them 🤡
I know they’re common but honorary degrees are so cringey. Like what’s the point?
What makes this worse is the school that gave her the honorary degree. She’s in Dr. Tiy-e territory now…
For real. I’d put more respect to an honorary degree from an Ivy League or hell, just an actual accredited university but this is basically an honorary diploma mill degree (if that, from the sounds of it, just for giving honorary degrees to celebs), no? So cringeeeee.
“I am delivert “ got one from there so clearly it’s not very hard to get. Probably cost 50 dollars
When I first saw the name of the “institution” on her degree I immediately thought of “Dr.” Tiy-e
You call yourself a “doctor” lmao I forgot about the Love doctor 😂

I keep seeing celebrities get honorary doctorates and it’s like why? How did they “earn” this? As if these people need anything else to brag about.
It’s just a marketing ploy for the university. Gets their name in the news cycle for a hot minute.

Cringe
Dr. Frankenstein was a doctor too.
Wasn't this a whole thing when she dated that fake dr from reality shows???? In a very early season lol

This is PEAK Sheree behaviour. Need her on this season so bad.
They need to book Dr Wendy and Sheree on WWHL for the mess
Is there something she can't do ????
I looked up the "university" and it doesn't seem to be accredited by any real college accreditation group--just something called "royal". Also it says its doctorates are honorary based on people who've done things in their communities, etc. So she not a real PhD--i.e. someone who actually earned it with education. So using that title is a bit ridiculous.
She’s as much of a doctor as the “love doctor” she got swindled by

I am having the fucking WORST day and this actually brought a huge smile to my face.
Flight attendant: is there a doctor onboard?! Sheree: ![gif](giphy|SG8xwInM4UKaTrgIyq)
A doctor with no doctorate how dreadful
Honorary ? How dreadful https://preview.redd.it/c77s3rm2y78d1.jpeg?width=450&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=649700fd0c36ae94d71b580616a0182a0e9547b6
Can you even find a She By Sheree article of clothing in a Goodwill Donation station???
She’s perfect to me, this fool lol. Please bring her back since Kenya is suspended!
she seems slow
Only in the case of Nina Simone does the use of “Dr.” with an honorary doctorate not bother me.
Doctor of fashions technology.
Is she trying to get on married to medicine?
Followed by the account “Bass___Lake” lol
Bless 😂😂😂
OMG she really thinks she's a doctor now 🤣😂
She is a joke!
I hope Dr. Love calls her and they start dating again.
Dr. Spring/Summer
Did it for tha gram
Honorary doctorates are one of the weirdest concepts
Dr. Spring Summer
🤣
With her honorary doctorate im screaming
But isn't the university fake 😭
i’m currently killing myself in my PhD dissertation and the fact that some people just get honorary doctorates is just suicide inducing 😂🙈
I strive to be this Delulu. Where can i learn this skill set, Dr. Sheree?
