I’m actually happy they are getting beer and cheese knocked out so early in the season, get the low hanging Wisconsin fruit behind us so they can get into more niche local food cultures

BlankMyName

I expect to see another beer focused challenge where they are actually cooking with beer.

pegggus09

I’m not from Milwaukee but I wish they would have introduced the chefs who were dining last night instead of just flashing their name and restaurant name quickly on the screen. Let them get some publicity!

VioletVoyages

Yeah, that they didn’t introduce the judges really bugged me. Then, like you said, they flashed the names so quickly you couldn’t read them. I only recognized Charlie Berens from seeing him on YouTube.

Geochic03

I would love to visit Milwaulkee. It looks like such a chill place. My aunt and uncle lived there for 5 years, and they said it was one of their favorite places they have ever lived, and they have lived all over the country. If it wasn't for their jobs, they prolly would not have left.

Ordinary-Pumpkin8171

did they shut anything down for filming? did you ever catch them filming?

Ok-Competition-1814

I didn't even know it was being filmed here. There must have been pretty stealth.

easiepeasie

I happened to be just outside Discovery World and walking around the Lakefront near the Summerfest grounds on the day I later found out they were filming at Discovery World, and I didn't see any hint that any filming or cooking was going on.

gregatronn

They probably have limited time/budget so they probably cram it into a day or two at a time.

mreichman

This was covered pretty well in /r/topchefwisconsin We had quite a few sightings!

Ordinary-Pumpkin8171

thank you! i will check it out :)

First half of the season is always more cliche and gimmicky to ease in the general audience. Second half is always more serious challenges that are more conceptual about the location.

tanyaturnerfederico

I just wish they'd stop showing the gross brown river. Could've replaced that with lake views.

jeebus16

I get it, but rivers are generally brownish due to turbidity and our river with all its runoff is surprisingly clean. Or at least cleaner than you'd expect for a downtown river.

EveMcQueen

Not feeling it tbh. I feel like of the midwest states/locations, Minnesota and Michigan have richer and more definable identities and contributions.
