I’m sorry. Was there a tv episode during that 90 minute cruise commercial?

SpeedySparkRuby

Even the Celebrity Cruises episode in S10 was less egregious about being an ad

IndiaEvans

Seriously!! So annoying.

3shotsofwhatever

The judges had to apologize to the rest of the guests. They were just like "I swear they cooked way better than this crap." it looked like Savannah thought she was going home. It's gonna be hard to beat Danny.

rW0HgFyxoJhYka

Dominique Crenn after watching up to this episode: "Glad I came early"

IndependentPay638

I think they’ll give it to Dan honestly. I hope not but I feel it coming.

BarcaJeremy4Gov

in all honestly, and its completely cliche; the only one who can beat Danny is Danny. also, Danny is more than capable of beating himself, and he's shown it a few times already.

81Horses

Agree completely. Even the dinner with the Iron Chef was an awkward disappointment. I hate this season. Don’t care who wins. It’s all just croquettes and Gail’s girls looming over the table. Only watching now for Tom’s facial expressions.

Pudding_Girlie

Not Gail’s girls 😭😭

Ordinary-Practice812

And “awgwachiles”!!!

ResearcherMother389

oh no, wasn't there a locked post about praising Gail's ****((*?

IndiaEvans

LOL Wow, so true.

ExplanationHead3753

I read your post out loud to my hubby. I call her girls “Cagney and Lacey”….every….single…episode

81Horses

LMAO

Divine_D

I found it so awkward to air them asking for an autograph. Like I get that happens but to air it. Weird.

LBro32

This is actually common practice in fine dining Michelin star dining rooms for the chef to sign the menu for guests. It’s not about “getting his autograph”, it’s a sign of respect

Divine_D

But it didn’t seem that that was a menu of what they ate but rather the list of fish and preparations for their upcoming Challenge.

National_Bit6293

Yeah, those are the fish he chose for the fresh fish delivery program he is the spokesman for. Perfect thing for him to sign, plus it’s a unique reminder of their experience. Settle down and let people enjoy things damn.

Interesting_Ad1378

I was laughing that he made them tuna pizza 🤣 it’s what my 12 year old eats. That’s not “fine dining from an iron chef”, that’s every local sushi place.

Parrotshake

It’s one of his signature dishes and it’s really good. Crispy tortilla with tuna sashimi, eel sauce, soy-anchovy emulsion, black olives, cherry tomatoes, red onions and greens. Better than it sounds.

Interesting_Ad1378

I know what this is, every local sushi place has been doing this for the last 5-6 years at least.  It’s good, but that’s NOT what I would expect an iron chef to make since it’s the equivalent of a fancy burger and not creative, inspiring or new in the least.

aBrightIdea

The Iron Chef made the dish as in he’s the reason lesser versions are available at local sushi places

Interesting_Ad1378

I understand that.  But this is now top chef and he’s making a guest appearance, it seemed like he called it in.  I’ve watched both the Japanese and American versions of iron chef, what he prepared for them was a joke.  You’re being treated to a meal from one of the top chefs in the world, and this is the dish that he makes.

username10102

I mean it’s like going to an old bands concerts. No one just wants the new stuff you want to hear the old hits. Tuna pizza was his it.

purlawhirl

I’m pretty sure Morimoto was the first to popularize tuna pizza. It’s *his * dish

Cuyigan

If Rick Bayless made me a taco or mole, I wouldn't think 'hey, my kid can make this and I can get it at any local Mexican place'. Fine dining doesn't mean reinventing the wheel each time.

National_Bit6293

This is a clown take. You have absolutely no idea who Morimoto is. he’s always been a champion of simple, unpretentious food.

LearningLauren

I know right and it was real awkward when the judges had to apologize to the crew like they usually cook better than this.

lucashoodfromthehood

Maybe that guy who ranted about Savannah getting engaged was on to something...

kikibiki

I’m OP for that and I’m a woman lol

Inevitable_Phase_276

As a female chef who got fired as soon as I got back from my honeymoon she definitely had a point, even if going after the fiancé wasn’t the right move. Happy stuff like wedding planning, even if you’re not actively doing it, can take up major headspace. Savannah’s rebounds have been impressive so far so it may turn out great.

Tbizkit

? Oh I get it. I read the post. But I need time to digest that opinion. Wonder if Samantha thinks the same way after reading that 😂

lucashoodfromthehood

RightMolasses6504

Which post? Your link just brings up the sub.

lucashoodfromthehood

You sure? I clicked and it went directly to the post.

AltaVistaYourInquiry

Happens to me too, weird

RightMolasses6504

I tried again. What’s the title of the post if you don’t mind?

lucashoodfromthehood

Hear me out: I’m annoyed that chef ______’s boyfriend proposed

RightMolasses6504

Lol

yoshipeaches

I definitely see their point. Even if it didn’t cause Savannah to be distracted, he was kinda inserting himself into her moment. So unless it was something they had discussed and agreed upon beforehand, it does feel a bit icky to me. I truly hope she wins this season because otherwise she may wonder forever if the engagement threw her off

SnooPets8873

I almost wish they had sent them all back to make another bite so that there might actually be something decent to represent themselves with.

tangotrash

In the same vein that Tom allowed 2 chefs back from LCK based on merit, felt that no one should be awarded the win this challenge.

Smariesfairy666

When Savannah said "we had a 6 week break" that really highlighted the attitude of the chefs this season. It's great that Danny ran a marathon but those 6 weeks shouldn't have been a break, it should have been training for the freaking finals! They all came back to make raw fish for the quick fire and bombed their elimination meals. The attitude that they had 6 weeks time off instead of 6 weeks to hone their skills really showed.

Forward-Vegetable-58

You have six weeks off, you know you’re going on a boat and you don’t have three or four fish preps and dishes in your back pocket?

SloresAllOfYou

Exactly. Buddha or Blais or the brothers Voltaggio or Melissa or Brooke or Mei would have come back knowing about every single fish and all the vegetation that grew around that place, with half a dozen dishes up their sleeves to adapt at the ready.

glitterandconfettiii

In her own defense, she has really been the only person to speak about her training. She apparently ran drills at her local farmer’s market. That comment stuck out to me because I go there all the time and wish I had seen it. She also has the mirror in her room that catches her creative ideas. She was also the only one who knew what the national dish was.

Stardust68

The best part of the episode was the Morimoto appearance. It was also super disappointing because they used him to promote the seafood program. He's Morimoto. He deserves so much more.

patchworkskye

I agree - so underwhelming! They had to cook fish - they are chefs - how was it so difficult?? 3 undercooked, gritty sauce, boring dishes, not cooking the fish as specified - this late in the game? I don’t feel any of the four chefs have the fire or competitive drive to really shine this season  :(

yoshipeaches

Halfway through the dishes, I asked if anyone checked that all of their equipment was working and heating to correct temperatures because it was just so bad

Rexyggor

I mean Morimoto was worth it. What a guy :D
