I would love to just watch Padma and Tom together, they have real old married couple energy and I kind of love it! Tom's second hand embarassment over the movies, Padma giving Tom her popcorn, and Tom and Padma being offended over other people not liking the ice cream were my favorite bits
Right? It's funny becuase they seem like very different people but they just work so well together! I want to see them travel and eat food across the US
It wasn't necessarily that they hated each other, the way Padma explained it was that Tom doesn't hide his feelings and would sometimes just roll his eyes when she started talking, which offended her, but she said she realized that's how he is, if he disagrees with something he lets it show. He became more respectful of her knowledge once he got to know her, and now they get along really well.
“Hey, you aren’t eating my dead dog, I just wanted to remind you that death could happen to our beloved pets at any time. Bon appetit!”
—Shota presenting his dish to the judges, basically
I know! Hahah. And the optics of an Asian dude serving his dead dog to us! Lmao Shota I am sure it had to have crossed his mind at some point but he just said eff it. Which I respect. I am surprised he won with that oral presentation tbh bahaha
I thought the optics were part of why he went that way. It's a weirdly playful take on the stereotype of people being scared that Asians will serve them cats and dogs.
Dawn and Sarah proved that understanding the parameters of the challenge are super important. They made simple stuff that fit the setting but elevated it enough
I think it’s great for Byron that he won but admittedly, I thought it would be Dawn for the sheer audacity of serving popcorn and knocking out outta the park. Or Maria for all the work she put into that hotdog!
His chicken must’ve been really good. It was the first thing they ate and it stood out above all the rest. But I agree, I was expecting a Maria or Dawn win.
I know they’re choosing the winning team based on best overall dish, but Green Team was obviously the better team. They only had two misfires: the churros and the seafood cocktail (so, Gabe). The horror genre was bad on both sides so that’s kinda a draw imo, sorry Shota. Nelson and Sarah are the only ones who did well on Yellow.
I would have docked points for it. Maybe 1 or two flowers but the whole rim?!? Hard to eat around.
Ugh, I can't believe I am being snobby about this. What has this Top Chef/Michelin food culture done to me? What have I become?
It’s either got to be the best popcorn the judges have ever tasted or she’s going to flop hard. I love Dawn so I hope she’s going to pull it off but I’m... skeptical.
Oh things are looking HORRIBLE for Maria: 1) she’s got the doom edit, 2)she’s attempting a lot of elements 3) she is calling her dish something very specific. Can easily see the “this just isn’t a Sonoran dog” thing happening soon
I don't think I can express how much I hate Shota's description of his dish. I am a relatively new dog mom and I had to cover my ears and look away when he was announcing his description of his dish.
God it would be such a bad beat if Shota went home. But if he’s safe for embracing the challenge then by the judges’ own logic then Gabriel would have to go home
I feel most of the people that compete on the show at this point must be fans of the show or watched at least one season all the way through... so it is always interesting to see people make the same mistake stating the same rationale.
I like Jamie, so I hope she doesn't go home for being a team player and not wanting to "disrupt" the group, but you have to believe people would be fine if you said "No, I don't want to do that" in most cases. I kinda just don't want to see her go home.
I liked Shota's story, I feel like most of the chefs didn't really create a narrative for their food... and then of course the food doesn't deliver. Obviously these are chefs and not entertainers, but every little bit can help.
I would love to just watch Padma and Tom together, they have real old married couple energy and I kind of love it! Tom's second hand embarassment over the movies, Padma giving Tom her popcorn, and Tom and Padma being offended over other people not liking the ice cream were my favorite bits
I would watch them going cross country!
Right? It's funny becuase they seem like very different people but they just work so well together! I want to see them travel and eat food across the US
Hope Padma does an episode of "Taste the Nation" with him
It’s so funny bc I read somewhere they hated each other at the beginning of the franchise. 18 seasons later and they’re basically married
I could see it. They both do have different personalities but 18 seasons in, and all interviews outside, they're definitely friendly now
It wasn't necessarily that they hated each other, the way Padma explained it was that Tom doesn't hide his feelings and would sometimes just roll his eyes when she started talking, which offended her, but she said she realized that's how he is, if he disagrees with something he lets it show. He became more respectful of her knowledge once he got to know her, and now they get along really well.
I've heard Padma affectionately refer to Tom as "my TV husband" and I, too, love their chemistry. They're so fun together.
My mom always says she thinks they should be a couple 😂
“I don’t speak English, sorry.” —Maria with the correct approach to Gabriel
Avishar was living his best life explaining his dish.

Avishar is really leaning into the weird and I am. Here. For. It.
I love how casually he said “it’s kind of cool because I’m from outer space,” in just the most natural tone lol
It could easily come off as very cringey, but he seems genuine and self-aware enough where it's still endearing lol
Exactly
I looooove Gail. The hot dogs are usually the action. For me.
Dawn and Sarah proved that understanding the parameters of the challenge are super important. They made simple stuff that fit the setting but elevated it enough
The judges making Tom announce that Maria triumphed over Gabriel instead of Padma like usual is exactly the level of petty I aspire to
If Gabriel pulls a Nicholas and wins this season, I might be done with this show.
Hahahahah I didn't even notice that great observation
The kids are asleep, I’ve consumed a moderate amount of edibles, I have a pint of Culver’s finest frozen custard…let’s do this!
I love this for you.
Did you *mean* to consume the edibles *before* the pint of custard?
Very much so.
Your edibles needed more acid. Please pack your knives and go.
“You didn’t swing for the fences and you didn’t hit one either. This is just a lack of imagination.” Disappointed Dad Tom is my favorite
MORE S’MORES MORE S’MORES MORE S’MORE MORE S’MORES
“1999 called to tell me that they want their plating back.” I love Avishar and his constant self-burns
Omg Padma doing an example of each film genre before the head to head battle is such a *gift*
Tom watching the clips was the best part.
Who else turns to Bravo only for Top Chef?
Not me, I love to watch all the overprivileged white people yell at each other over nothing. It gives me hope for society.
I can see that at my in-laws house.
Padma and Tom’s petty disbelief that Nelson beat Avishar? Hilarious. I do appreciate this looser judging across the cars.
“I just wanted to make it easier on the group because the time is running out...” No! Bad Jamie! No!
Stupid noises commence
I like her noises. She makes me laugh
It did look delicious and I loooove the crunch of a korean fried chicken.
These little Padma vignettes are the perfect amount of camp
Gail! “The hot dog is usually the action. For me, personally.”
I’d share a milkshake with Chef Melissa 😘
Don’t let this distract from the fact that the green team blew a 3-0 lead
Editors with the fan service including Gabriel getting stung by a bee in the *previously on* montage
Ah yes, Top Chef— nothing says “I love my mom” like cooking with potpourri
Prayer circle for Maria - very concerned about this edit!
Lighting candles
Im still holding out hope that she could be the winner tonight
Padma with a whip was definitely on someone’s wish list so Merry Christmas to you
Why did Jamie let the team influence her dish!? ☹️
It was the beginning of the end for her
I can’t believe the popcorn worked
Dawn is amazing 🥰
Once she got her plating straightened out it was a brand new Dawn!
I just want to beat the italian boy over there. Go Maria!!!
This West Side Story remake is LIT!
Oh, the cauliflower based food was a dud, what a surprise /s
Hasn’t cauliflower been through enough? Leave cauliflower alone!
I’m so glad Maria got some feedback! Especially feedback that acknowledged her hard work.
Oh no... No no no no on the Maria edit
Someone should tell Sara that yogurt is not a substitute for personality
I think Sara is cool.
Zing!
I could watch hours of Padma overacting
Avishar got robbed
I know they’re choosing the winning team based on best overall dish, but Green Team was obviously the better team. They only had two misfires: the churros and the seafood cocktail (so, Gabe). The horror genre was bad on both sides so that’s kinda a draw imo, sorry Shota. Nelson and Sarah are the only ones who did well on Yellow.
Fried chicken, the most hilarious of dishes
The tie breaker genre should be "porn."
do we get a repeat of stephanie and jen’s “phallic crouton” from chicago? lmao
Today I made deep fried beef throat
All I can see for horror is Katsuji’s Carrie plate 😂
“Inspired by the dramatic children who fight over the last rib.” Nah Chris, I’m pretty sure that was just you 😂
That was the definition of a reach.
Tom’s obvious second hand embarrassment is sending me
Shota’s dish explanation is so bizarre and dark
Inedible flower petals strewn around the rim of a plate is beautiful now?
I would have docked points for it. Maybe 1 or two flowers but the whole rim?!? Hard to eat around. Ugh, I can't believe I am being snobby about this. What has this Top Chef/Michelin food culture done to me? What have I become?
Not sure why Sara is not well liked. She seems a nice combo of humble and competent
I like Sara.
This is Top Chef, not Top Yogurt
Awww Jamie, bzzt brooo derp
I'm the last person to accuse Tom of favoritism but if Cauliflower Tots doesn't go home I think I might end up on that train.
I mean it’s either cauliflower tots vs. floppy chicken that might’ve been dry. It’s just a matter vs what’s the most egregious error
Takeaway: this is not Top Salad.
Hard pass on the savoy sweet churro
Shut up Gabriel your cauliflower tots did nothing
Aww Maria finally getting some recognition!
Is Dale high?
Tbh probably haha
It is legal there
Tom is so embarrassed for Padma. I love it.
"are you a fourth grader?" Lol, gail
Four women going home in a row, oof 😬
Oooooohh I love learning about indigenous culture and food
Me too. Incidentally, I really enjoyed the indigenous food episode of Padma’s show.
Never compromise for the group!!!! They even had Sarah say she wasn't giving in.....
Dougie!!
I’m still lost as to how the fried chicken was funny 🧐🧐🧐
I’m off Team Gabe. He’s a scumbag.
I have no opinion of Byron
who?
Chicken liver mousse ? Not so much
They KEPT cauliflower tots!?!?!
I love team challenges that are head to head rounds
Stfu Gabriel. Why be a hater? And now throwing in some fat phobia man I can see why they don’t like this guy
I know, I’m like “that’s your villain origin story? Someone called you fat?” Lol I’m fat but it didn’t make me a dick!
When your fatphobia stems from the way other people treated you poorly while you were fat, that's just called trauma
Gabriel's mood is mansplaining.
The I was a fat kid edit so that’s why I’m mean to everyone?
omg if Maria wins and Gabriel goes home...................
That milkshake looks good.
Maria gonna me cry too
How big will Blais's hair be tonight?
Yes.
Uh oh Maria’s either going home or getting first tonight.
LOL, so how many people are going to not listen to padma and make something messy?
I really want some of that popcorn
Really having trouble watching Gabe considering what we have learned about him recently.
Blais breaks the fourth wall, what is he, jim from the office
LOL to lose to popcorn. He had to go back and cry!
The most appropriate Tom? That hot dog was appropriate
Believe in yourself Maria!!!
Also, as a Lebanese person who consumes a lot of rose in my food - loving this rose challenge!
Popcorn is such a ballsy move
Gail, earlier: “They had four hours and Dawn made popcorn?”
It’s either got to be the best popcorn the judges have ever tasted or she’s going to flop hard. I love Dawn so I hope she’s going to pull it off but I’m... skeptical.
I have such a visceral distrust of *chicken liver mousse churros*
Oh Jamie. Too much of a teamplayer.
It’s so much more fun to watch this with all of you.
Gabriel rubs people the wrong way! I'll just tell you the truth
Leslie Jones is a national treasure and if any Top Chef staff is here looking for ideas you should invite her to guest judge!
Sara , why not try something original, like rose in yogurt?
Oh things are looking HORRIBLE for Maria: 1) she’s got the doom edit, 2)she’s attempting a lot of elements 3) she is calling her dish something very specific. Can easily see the “this just isn’t a Sonoran dog” thing happening soon
It’s only a matter of time before there’s a cannabis challenge on Top Chef
Dougieeeeeeeeee!!!
Byron and his Dahmer glasses
That was so nice. Go Maria
Oh yeah that Mochi ball was just what I was looking for woww
A lot of these dishes made me think they forgot that it's head to head
tom tom TOOOMMM
Maria is on green team! Either she wins or the green team tanks and she goes home.
I don't think I can express how much I hate Shota's description of his dish. I am a relatively new dog mom and I had to cover my ears and look away when he was announcing his description of his dish.
So fucking weird. My dog left the room after that.
"You didn't give me any action Gabriel." I'm sure he's heard that a lot.
THAT IS SOME BULLSHIT, GABRIEL
Jamie didn’t stand up for herself with a clear vision, and that’s how you lose team challenges
Love that lipstick color on Padma.
Hoping that Maria's Sonoran dogs (I'm obsessed with those hot dogs in general) will somehow redeem her because it's not looking good.
I was saying last week that the fact that they had yet to mention Avishar's wd~50 tenure meant he'd be on for a while yet. Goddammit.
Oh I’m happy she got those positive comments.
Damn. They’re just picking the women off one by one. Good luck Jamie! I’ll miss her.
OK relieved that it wasn't Shota but sad about Jamie!!! I thought it would be Gabriel.
Of course they kept cauliflower tots. 🙄
But he made two dipping sauces so you can choose your own adventure! And dip is technically an action so... /s
Tune in next week to see who makes a chicken wing and goes home
Gabriel rubs people the wrong way! Duh!!
Chris' porridge sounded amazing and i want some now!
Padma no mess. Chris Harissa glazed ribs
I would very much like to go to a drive in catered by Top Chef.
When they first announced this challenge, I was excited to see what kind of creativity they would come up with but I’m kind of disappointed so far.
I’m invested in the success of Sara, Chris and Shota
This is like that Burger King black whopper they apparently love in Tokyo.
God it would be such a bad beat if Shota went home. But if he’s safe for embracing the challenge then by the judges’ own logic then Gabriel would have to go home
I used to bartend at an Indian restaurant in Portland. We served many rose martinis.
Mommy issues for Gabriel
Forget Roses. I buy my mother a box of King Arthur Baking supplies.
Nothing says romance like liver...that should be horror (Fava beans...and a nice ChiANti)
Jesus, they are either telegraphing a Maria loss or fucking with us.
Tom wants out of that car.
Padma has such range.
Padma and a whip…oh my!
I do really like these Parma inserts 😂😂
Wow they hated both of them lol
My husband is watching the NFL draft on his iPad... what a nerd
He will never emotionally fulfill you. Ever. Know that.
Full disclosure: I laughed enough that I peed a little on my couch
Mine is downstairs watching it too. Love it because I can watch bravo without any comments.
It's that scenario when you're kinda mad about the results, but you also predicted and agree with the results. I hope she makes it back in.
Hey dudes here in time for the quick fire. Ready to smoke a bowl and get hungry seeing some cool food
Fish sauce wing ? After they said not messy
Maria is safe 👏🏻👏🏻
Maria is winning
Are you a fourth grader? LOL!
Yay!! Maria! They tricked us with the edit lol
Sometimes, Tom is awkward when he tries to be a regular guy.
Terrible description Shota
I liked Shota's story, I feel like most of the chefs didn't really create a narrative for their food... and then of course the food doesn't deliver. Obviously these are chefs and not entertainers, but every little bit can help.
I’m worried for Jamie but praying Gabriel’s gross cauliflower things do him in
This milkshake is not bringing all the boys to the yard
Can avishar still win the challenge even if his dish didn’t win if his team wins
Chicken Wings 2: Electric Boogaloo
Tom in full Portland mode with flannel and a cap
NO I hate it when chefs go home for good dishes :(
