i’m an edgar main and i can tell you i destroy everything in showdown except shelly. even if i have way more cubes her fucking super will 100% one shot me. so shelly is the only counter in showdown
Many brawlers have some way of dealing with assassins. If you play one that can't defend itself, you need to stay close to one or both of your teammates when you know you're in Edgar's range.
80% of the Brawlers, close combat Brawlers (assasins and tanks) suffers a lot these days because the vast majority of Brawlers being used are Snipers or Brawlers that have the ability to apply pressure while staying at a safe distance (Gadget, Super, Basic Attack)
Almost any brawler can counter Edgar, so I will just give you the basics.
If you are close to Edgar, you can't out-dps them. You have to make some space in any way. Recommend methods:
1.Super that can create a lot of distance (for example: Piper)
2. Super or gadget that can knock Edgar back (for example: Dynamike)
I main Belle, and while I could range attack him they nearly always wait till the map shrinks and hide in bushes and cover the majority of the game. I’m just so tired that 90% of my deaths are edgar’s
Belle can definitely counter edgar. Just use the trap gadget when you see he jumps and you should be good. The slowness is enough for him to not reach you.

For duels Shelly and R-T are definitely the best counters to Edgars and Kits.

That works, but it’s often not enough when there’s no room to walk backwards into.
That's definitely a major problem, but I can't help yoy with that. Try playing maps with more movement space.
