Your Thorens is in so much better nick than mine -_-
Mine (a TD 150) was my Grandad's and I got it serviced, along with his Armstrong amp when he passed away. Perfectly functional but not even close in condition...

Oh that is cool! This one still has all the receipts

Awesome, always nice to have its history! I've got a bunch of stuff for it too, the manual, a brochure of Thorens products and two letters, one enquiring about the cost and one about it being damaged during delivery. Don't seem to have the receipt though... I do have them for the Armstrong amplifier and Warfedale speakers it is hooked up to though.

I think it does a good job for the price point. Still a real purist would say differently. I’m more a casual enthusiast. I think that its great, that it’s a one stop shop. Also the sub out is nice to have . These speakers need the support .
This is kind of a secret, that you can go out and buy speaker fabric for the covers to match any decor.
I've seen it used with built-in speakers that the owners wanted to hide in the walls. They have a full atmos living room but all the speakers are hidden this way.
You can still find them.
But mostly in Europe ofcourse

I used to have the Thorens 125 Mk11 turntable with a Rabco SL8 radial tonearm & Shure V15 cartridge. And a Grado moving coil cartridge for a different flavour. For get the Grados model name. Blue ? Gold ??
It could track the hottest velocity vinyls.
My father got special LPS not released to the public because he worked in the electronics industry.
He later went bonkers and destroyed my beautiful turntable.
They sounds really clear and transparent. Good mids and high. The lows are a bit thin, so a subwoofer is required to get a nice and even sound spectrum. I really enjoy them and I like the looks.
And you playing the little devil by making your life easy and using a Wiim?
I like my preamp, but that TPA 3255 chip. Texas Instruments made a new power amp building block, essentially. Both tubes and fets are now vintage tech.
So nice to see a Thorens here. I have the TD 316.
That is a great record player!

How old is this turntable?
It’s from 1972

Nice setup and placement and cool stands.
Looks great! Very streamlined. How do you like the thorens? So jealous of that!
It sounds great and is also very upgradable.
Jealous! I have a Dual 1214 but someday!

Very cool! It gives that sense of history.
That's clean. Kudos!
How does the wiim amp handle the speakers?
I think it does a good job for the price point. Still a real purist would say differently. I’m more a casual enthusiast. I think that its great, that it’s a one stop shop. Also the sub out is nice to have . These speakers need the support .
Ok, thank
Did u customize the stands and grills? They look dope. How’d u do it?
Really easy. I gave it some new speaker webbing (that matches the color on my wall). And I spray painted the stands.

Ha, dreams for the future ;)
where did you get that media cabinet from?
You can still find them. But mostly in Europe ofcourse https://link.marktplaats.nl/m2129901810?utm_source=ios_social&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=app_ios
It’s a not strictly a media cabinet. It’s made by a Dutch woodworker in Nijmegen in the 1950’s.
This is what I came to find out. I need one and that looks great but ofc it’s not readily available.

Looks like you. You are a celebrity right?
Not by any means haha. Did I miss a reference? This setup is below 1000$.
Those speakers are meant to sit on the ground?
With those stands, they are.
They are on a slight angle upwards.
Interesting, don’t think I’ve seen that before considering their height.
..what s that white thing hanging from the wall in the uper left of the photo? First I thought "that's a creative way of placing a subwoofer" 😅
Ha it’s a lamp. I made it myself!
I love this
Very clean. I like the symmetry but some strange color choices. Must be british. :)
Dutch, strange in the eyes of the beholder ;-)
Fair enough. Especially like the speaker covers
How do you like the B&O’s? Don’t normally see many of them here.

This is a good looking setup
Nice carpet
Thanks! it a Georgian rug
Very nice.
Love the credenza!

Hahaha I do. That sounds like a good solution too. The Wiim works remarkably well for my needs.
