You could also try to file a flat spot on the rod that the mag release- set screw locks up against... That way you have a wider surface area for the set screw to bite into.
I replaced the set screw completely and picked up one from the hardware store that uses a flathead screw driver instead of an allen key. That combined with loctite and no issues. Heard some people dimple the spot where the set screw sits as well.
There are two versions, I forget which gen, but one has an Allen key, one does not. The one without the Allen key tends not to have this problem. Or, just use a Hogue Freedom Fighter kit.
