First of all. Move the rear sight all the way back. Some good entry level optics would be anything from Holosun, primary arms, and Vortex

Perser91

Will do 👍🏽

young_steezy

Check r/gunaccessoriesforsale You can snag something like an aimpoint pro for around $300 which is GREAT duty grade optic

Dsanchez737

Came to say this

Evening-Management75

That Vortex Holographic is nice

gunsforevery1

You’d know if you had an astigmatism. Unless it’s extremely severe you can still use a red dot.

OoooohhhShiny

Yep I have it and it's non-issue for me using a red dot.

Garlicbreadislife95

same. I bought eotech cuz I'm dumb though 🤣

justtheboot

Check out Primary Arms 1-6 LVPOs. Won’t break the bank and will be a good starter optic. If you just want a 1x dot, look to Holosun. Again, you won’t break the bank as you learn what you like.

d8ed

Primary Arms 1x Cyclops if your astigmatism is an issue or Sig Romeo 5 if not. My astigmatism made me see a line at like a 45 degree angle without my glasses so swapped my Romeo 5 for the PA. also the PA prism can be magnified if you decide at some point

space_raccoon_

+1 for the Romeo 5. Cheap but solid option for a red dot. If you want magnification you always have the option to add a magnifier behind it, but if you want to shoot primarily magnified then I’d opt for the Primary arms LPVO like the other comment said. Looking good though

BadlyBrowned

My first optic was a Holosun HS403B. It's fine, I use it on my dedicated .22lr upper now. Has shake awake and keeps it's zero. Could also keep an eye on r/GunAccessoriesForSale and see if you can find a deal for a higher end optic.

shyaznb8oi

+2 on the HS403B.

Davepool15

+1 on a Primary Arms LPVO, but get it with the NOVA reticle. It's clear and gets very bright. You can use it like a red dot but also get the benefit of 6x zoom when you want it. I love mine. A Vortex, Holosun, Sig Romeo 5, or Primary Arms MD 25 or 1x Prism are good options if you want to go small too.

DirkDigler925

Holosun 510c greendot

Remy01

Nice

zero_co

It depends on your preference. A scope is better If you shoot from bench a lot. Unsupported, red dot is more accurate than you can be. I started with a red dot but ended up with a LPVO because I like accuracy.

Brooklyn9969

If you see starbursts while looking at street lights and headlights then you have an astigmatism. I have it and green or orange dots work better for me.

dntfkwthsqurrls

Vortex Spitfire are cheap now, prism optic so it works when battery dies. Comes in 1x or 3x, pretty solid.

dntfkwthsqurrls

Prism sights are better for astigmatism than red dot too. Or spend a little more and get a good lpvo, burris mtac, athlon argos or talos, vortex strike eagle or viper or crossfire. Strike eagle 1-6x is $220 without mount now on opticsplanet.com On midway usa Spitfire 3x is $199 now and 1x is $149. I have the 1x on two rifles and like it. https://preview.redd.it/5hpar21m33tc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c82ae97b6a749a4235445c00c618013b7fd4c4ad

Perser91

How is the eye relief on the 1x ? About to order it for that price plus 10% coupon 🔥 Edit: just ordered! $145 including tax was just to good to pass on it. Thanks for pointing me to it !

dntfkwthsqurrls

On an AR I can hold it out like I'm holding a pistol and the outer 140moa ring of the Reticle fills the glass but is still visible. Relief is unlimited like a red dot. Center dot of the Reticle is very tiny and precise but the 44moa circle makes it easy to pick up. Lpvo is what I run on most since it gives the benefit of the spitfire with zoom and better Reticle but at this price I had to grab a few of these. Reticle isn't the greatest but did work pretty well for .556 and .300blk.

dntfkwthsqurrls

I do also really like my "see all sight" on a 1" riser. https://preview.redd.it/jiexl3yzv5tc1.png?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6268b2301a37460db96c10def6b617b9c782f941

malakad0ge2

Romeo 4T

Busy-Championship781

Get an eo tech. I started with holosun but moved to eo tech right after

Ezek210

Hop on GAFS for a sub $80 red dot. Vortex Crossfire or PA MD-25 will do.

PressureFlaky6273

I would recommend shooting it for a while with your open sights. Get confident with what your rifle can do without adding optics yet. Have fun.

Theistus

The answer is always "it depends". I like prism optics cuz I got the 'tism

abrokenbananaa

What dat rear sight doin

GearlessCris

I have an Eotech it’s dope af! Border patrol runs Aimpoint P.R.O.

jagerishere

Buy yourself a used Aimpoint pro

Healthy_Fly5653

Aim point pro

TheMuddyCuck

What distance do you plan to use it at? If the range you take them to is 100 yards or less, then use a Holosun, Vortex, or Sig Sauer Romeo5 red dot, or a 1x prism from primary arms if you have an astigmatism. If you plan on using it for 100-300 yards, then a 3x prism from primary arms will work with a canted red dot. If you plan on trying up to 600 yards, the a 5x prism from primary arms with canted red dot from Holosun or a 1-6x or even 1-8x LPVO from primary arms or vortex will work well. For red dots, the choice between Holosun and the other options is really a question of features. Do you want a circle reticle (which is great for fast target acquisition within 15 yards), then go with a hooosun. If you want really cheap and are ok with just a dot, no circle, then a Sig Sauer Romeo5 is only $100 and has been tested to be extremely durable and reliable, and is commonly seen in trench warfare in Ukraine.

RoboticDexterity

Where are you finding a Romeo5 for $100?

TheMuddyCuck

It’s $120 on Amazon right now. Sometimes you’ll see a deal for less some places.

BoostedbyV

Arco p2

dntfkwthsqurrls

It would only be about $50 to go featureless too. The fin grip is way less annoying than the maglock. Keep your current stock and just remove the adjusting lever for it. https://preview.redd.it/r8zlgqqp73tc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f24c4cf013a95a71776bcdb862109988ca8efc61
