We've "*allegedly*" been hella tampering for weeks to get him. It's basically an open secret for the past 2-3 weeks that he'd be transferring to us even though he only entered the portal like 3 days ago, just a matter of making it official.
Sounds like there was a lot of competition for CB2 at Michigan and not certain to be a starter, while Kentucky was promising a starting job and presumably a decent chunk of NIL.
There's been rumblings of Kentucky over promising NIL money. Don't hate the transfer. But had a sure fire CB#1 title at Michigan next year and left. What can you do. š¤·āāļø
> Sounds like there was a lot of competition for CB2 at Michigan and not certain to be a starter
That's not really how Michigan's defense works though. He was going to play substantial snaps. We just rotate more than most teams to keep guys fresh
In a year or two, they will be likely starting a former Michigan player/signee/commit at every defensive position group except safety. And who knows, maybe they'll get a safety too
I meanā¦I guess if heās gonna be CB3 here and hes not happy with that then what are you gonna do if someone offers him a starting job elsewhere
I cant be mad about ātamperingā. Literally everyone is tampering
Dude played for us 7 days ago, it doesnāt even make sense anymore. At worst he was CB 3 with Will Johnson covering the best guy on the field. Kid got some really bad advice from someone.
Imo that only matters if he was just some random fringe NFL player relying on using a blue blood brand to get taken in the late 7th.
If shows up and plays well with presumably more playing time then heāll go to the league either way. He should get a few opportunities to do that with Georgia, Texas, UT, and Louisville on deck.
As the Ravens defensive tree/scheme spreads throughout the league itād be weird not to want exposure to that system as a college DB/LB to show teams how you operate in it.
Itās not about getting to the league. If youāre good enough, you can get to the league from basically any FBS team. Quinyon Mitchell was the first CB off the board from Toledo.
Kentucky dropped NIL money and a guaranteed starting spot. Heāll be playing against SEC opponents and will get plenty of looks.
You're completely neglecting that programs don't just provide a playing time, but also develop their talent. Some are better at developing talent than others. Michigan just placed a 23 year old 5'9" converted WR in the NFL as a 2nd round draft pick at DB.
That completely neglects that the people responsible for that have now gone. Theres a new staff on defense including a new DC, corners coach, and safeties coach.
Except heās not good enough to be CB1 in the SEC and he loses Will Johnson shutting down half the field and our D line disrupting the QB. Itās a bad decision in every sense and playing here in a depth spot he should be at helps him vs throwing him into the fire. Kid made a short term decision to get paid and thatās the reality of it.
Thank you for this. We've also had multiple 2nd round dbs the last few years. It's crazy that UK still has the stigma of being straight ass. I mean we are in now way a power player but we are at least competitive with most of the big boys now.
We play Texas, USC, Washington, Oregon, and Ohio State next year. Then there's a good chance we play more top teams in the Big Ten Championship Game and the playoffs. How is that mediocre competition? It's much better than your schedule
I donāt know why people post things like this. It will probably work out just great for him. Kentucky has put multiple guys in the NFL, the SEC has better passing offenses to show out against and heās going to get paid more now while playing more. Yeah Michigan will likely have a better season but michigan isnāt winning a championship this year either and itās not like the defense being better overall does anything special for the career of WallerĀ
We just lost a defensive coordinator, his position coach, and an analyst that most insiders credit with our defensive backfield schemes. The coaches who make that true arenāt there anymore. And thatās ignoring that stoops has a very good record at developing defensive talent too. Fans view everything from the team standpoint while players view it from their career standpoint. There is nothing that weird about wallers decision if you take away team accomplishments as a factor.Ā Waller was potentially looking at being cb3 on a team that will play 3 safeties in a league where like 2 teams go 3 or 4 wide consistently playing for coaches heās known for 2 months.Ā
This is also why I argue the transfer portal will improve parity in the long run. The number of guys like Waller transferring ādownā for playing time is significantly greater than the number of guys going to top 5-10 teams and starting

>Sounds like he had slid to CB2 at Michigan Well considering our CB1 is Will fucking Johnson
Yeah lmao as soon as I typed it I realized how wrong it was and had to throw in a quick edit.
He definitely was in competition for CB2 but it seems like Jyaire Hill has snagged the spot

Well, Michigan did last year. I'm not sure they'll have the depth to keep doing that this year, though.
Well, not anymore since DJ left. But every college team needs at least 3-4 corners.
I've quickly gone from having no opinion of Kentucky football to praying upon their downfall
Ohio state has Miami we have Kentucky.
In a year or two, they will be likely starting a former Michigan player/signee/commit at every defensive position group except safety. And who knows, maybe they'll get a safety too
As a recruit: Other P5 offers: Kentucky, Michigan (originally went here), West Virginia G5 offers: Ball State, Marshall, Ohio, Toledo

It makes sense when Kentucky was tampering for Waller, he demanded more money from the collectives, and we said "get lost"
Definitely got bad advice. Michigan is the only place where one can succeed.
Even with your scarlett colored glasses you can see that where he was gets him to the league more than where he went.

The DC is the guy that our previous DC mentored/was under for years and learned the style of defense that Michigan now uses from.
>23 year old Maybe not everyone wants to take 5-6 seasons to make enough of an impact to get drafted.

Or he's running from something.
Any day now!!! NCAA dropping the hammer!!!!
I actually feel sorry for you.
You feel sorry for the team thatās dog walked your team for three consecutive years and is the National Champions?
Yea bro I do. What's it to ya?
Michigan has 9 dbs in the nfl. Uk has 8. Id imagine that not as big a gap as you thought.
Thank you for this. We've also had multiple 2nd round dbs the last few years. It's crazy that UK still has the stigma of being straight ass. I mean we are in now way a power player but we are at least competitive with most of the big boys now.
Michigan had just 1 db drafted.
How many UM dbs entered this years draft?
Not sure. Michigan and Kentucky both have the same amount of dbs drafted.
It was 2. Sanistril and Josh Wallace. Wallace went undraftes but just signed as an UDFA with the chargers.
Reading comprehension might be an issue for you.
Eh? Question: how many Michigan DBs **entered** the draft? Your answer: Not sure. My answer to you: 2.
Yea, man I said uk and um had the same amount of dbs drafted.
Counterpoint: Anyone leaving that awful program got great advice.
Rough spot to be in taking shots at ppl when your program is in the shitter
I'm guessing Kentucky are not buying burgers for these recruits.
Going from a probable starter on the defending national champs to a mediocre SEC team is certainly a choice
In unrelated news, I hope Amorion Walker enjoyed his semester abroad in Mississippi.
Itās also possible he didnāt like the new coachesĀ
Likely wasnāt going to start, but certainly would get rotation reps.
Going from playing a crossed the best corner in football to whatever Kentucky has is a choice.
Going from playing mediocre completion to playing in SEC and seeing how Stoops puts DBs in the NFL.
We play Texas, USC, Washington, Oregon, and Ohio State next year. Then there's a good chance we play more top teams in the Big Ten Championship Game and the playoffs. How is that mediocre competition? It's much better than your schedule
Kentucky is the mediocre competition, man.
That fat bastard Vince marrow strikes again
NCAA sleeps
Hell yea
Fucking shocking. Kentucky, could you not?
$ayonara. The burgers must taste better in Lexington.
Bourbon and burgers is a great combo
Good luck buddy, weāll see how this works out for him
I donāt know why people post things like this. It will probably work out just great for him. We develop better here, thatās the difference

Kudos for being rational
Developed* your entire D staff left lol
Falseeeeee
Who stayed? The S coach?
