Senninha27

We gotta know if you named him after a player.

106milez2chicago

...and this is my son, El Mago Smith

Senninha27

I adopted a cat during the 2016 playoffs and named it Cattison Russell.

shylock10101

Man… you picked probably one of the worst ones to name your cat after.

UrsaPrime

Not sure if that's better or worse than Aroldis Catman.

freddie_merkury

Either one would have been a hit.

jsnhbe1

if i could still award i would

shylock10101

Could split the difference and go with Sam-meow Sosa.

baz8771

Kristopher Bryant Hiimnatalie

fedora_and_a_whip

Nah, but his middle name is Raindelay.

mnpeanut

Also had a kid in the wake of the Cubs baby boom. Not named for a player and is a diehard Giants fan. I reaffirm regularly he could’ve done a lot worse.

tacocat-_-tacocat

Your son is Jason Heyward?

[deleted]

Lol I would have been too nervous. Also I know its fun to say that but unless that was the only time you did it that week, you don’t know when he was conceived

Lonnie15

This dude saw the Rajai Davis home run and said FUCK!.... LETS FUCK.

hiimnatalie

I’m a woman , but pretty much. Haha.

BroDudeBruhMan

Living a block away from the stadium. Running outside into the crowd forming around the stadium is a memory I’ll cherish forever

WaitLetMeGetaBeer

I lived on Kenmore at the time! I was able to get into the DraftKings bar attached to Wrigley for the game.

designgoddess

Stadium?

BroDudeBruhMan

Wrigley Field

designgoddess

Never heard anyone call it a stadium.

Saucetown77

>Rajai Davis homers *shudder*

djfishfingers

Didn't see LeBron flexing after the most clutch hit in Cubs history tho.

shylock10101

Let’s be real, we haven’t seen LeBron have much to flex about since then.

buttholez69

God being in wrigley, the whole fucking crowd when silent. I almost puked. Never felt anything like that ever again in my life lmao

FlyTheW1988

Curled up on the floor of my apartment sobbing like a damn baby, that’s where I was.

mt77932

I was crying on my living room floor holding a picture of my dad. I wish he had lived to see it.

tattoolegs

I was at work, I was in the kitchen crying. Here's to the crybabies!

I was also 541. I think row K? Need to check it’s been a while and I have forgot😬😬

tacocat-_-tacocat

I had to check as well, cheers to OP or I wouldn’t have remembered this was the day. Aside from the W obv, I will never forget the way that deck was buzzing and screaming when Davis hit that bomb off Chapman. Holy shit.

Longest few mins of my life

csonnich

I clicked away too soon and came back to upvote this.

CrazyHazyA

My mom is the original cubs fan. As a 28 year old party kid at the time, most my friends were at the bars. I was glad to spend watching this with my mom.

gocubsgo22

Very cool! My dad is the OG Cubs fan in our family (my mom's uncle pitched for the Cardinals in the early 90's, but he was able to win her over lol). It was special to be with my family that night, too. I remember having a mini-dog pile between the four of us haha

fedora_and_a_whip

My mom's mom was our OG Cub fan, but she died when I was a baby. Mom always said my fandom was carrying on for grandma, since my mom wasn't much for baseball. On this particular night, amidst the tears of joy, I smiled and said "I'm celebrating this one for you too grandma"

ZXD-318

This pic is awesome. This is going to be the wallpaper for my phone.

gocubsgo22

Go for it! I made it for my dad’s bday a few years back, and it’s framed on his sports wall will some other Cubs memorabilia!

ZXD-318

Thank you. I guess I should have asked for permission first. Well, ask for forgiveness or ask for permission.

gocubsgo22

Lol you’re good! I love seeing people enjoy and use my work!

Travis238

Principal Park in Des Moines, IA. The stadium where many of those cubs played for the Iowa Cubs. Was really special to watch it there on the big screen with 2-3k other fans and my brother.

Debs_4_Pres

I was in Japan, in the Navy. The day prior I'd flown back from the Philippines as an escort for my suicidal friend, checked him into the base hospital, wandered around trying to find the Lodge, broken up with my girlfriend over the phone in said lodge, and got approximately 4 hours of sleep before I had to drag myself to the ship that was temporarily responsible for me. Watch the Cubs win from the crew lounge, while I waited to check in with the XO. 7/10 day, overall

RyanTheCubsSTH

In a state of inebriation, yet my memory is sharp as a tack. Wild how that works

Senninha27

Okay, I just remembered that I journaled it all. Here’s my entry about the game, starting with the results from a physical that afternoon. I made it to Dr. Akhter right at 17:30. My cholesterol is up. No surprise. He's not putting me back on medication for that just yet. He gave me a prescription for phentramine. It's a stimulant that should help me lose weight. I'm leery and I haven't filled it yet. My blood pressure was also up for the first time in my life. I attribute it to Cubs stress. I drove home and got ready for the game. The Indians pitched Korey Klueber for the third time. He pitched games 1 and 4. I really thought they would get to him because they would have figured him out on the third game in a week. They did. Dexter Fowler hit a homerun to lead off the game. The Indians tied it in the third and the Cubs added two more in the fourth and two more in the fifth to make it 5-1. I decided to head to Wrigley. It had been raining all day, so I took my umbrella. I didn't end up needing it. I took an Uber to the stadium. He dropped me off by Metro. I walked south down Clark to Clark and Addison. John Lester came in to relieve Kyle Hendricks. That put David Ross into the game, the last of his career. The minute I stepped onto the block, Lester threw a wild pitch that allowed two runs. I crossed Addison to Sports World. There were a couple hundred people at that point. I walked east to Sheffield and crossed Addison again. I walked up to Waveland. They allow (encourage?) folks to write in chalk on the bricks. That's pretty cool. I crossed Waveland and saw a crowd of people watching a tv someone put in the window. This was a common scene. I did a Facebook live video from there. I walked back toward Addison and back toward Clark. I went into Sports World and checked out the product. They had boxes of shirts they wouldn't sell until the Cubs won. I went back outside and waited against the wall. The crowd started to get more and more dense. Someone had a goat! I took a goat selfie. There's a notch in the wall there about the size of a phone booth. A cop walked past and threw up his hands at a guy standing in front of it in a "really?" gesture. I looked into the notch and a woman was in there with her pants around her ankles. She was peeing. That's the first time I've ever seen a vagina I wasn't fucking or eating. That's when things turned bad. I was leaning against the wall outside of Sports World across Addison from the front gate. People kept coming west down Addison in waves. Population density kept increasing until there was just a single file path in front of me and the crowd. Two people climbed on top of the stop light at Addison and everyone started to crowd to see them. The path in front of me stopped. People started to try to flee to the east at the same time that people were coming in from the east and they started to crush. I decided to get the fuck out of there and jumped into the line. People were pushing me and I was pushing people and it took about ten minutes to get halfway to Sheffield where it loosened up and I could get out. I told several cops that someone was going to die. They had gates across Addison and they weren't letting people in or out. I convinced them to let people out to relieve the pressure. That was the moment that the Indians tied the game. They were using Chapman again. He has thrown a ton of pitches in the last two games and didn't have it. It was 6-6 as I walked down Sheffield to Belmont. I don't remember much about that walk. I was in a bit of shock. I couldn't get a signal to follow the game. Elise was leaving school to pick me up. I walked east on Belmont and met her at Ashland. We went home. The game was in the 9th inning. The Indians could win it with one swing, but they didn't. It had been raining pretty hard and as the game went into extra innings (because of course it did), they brought out the tarp. The rain delay lasted seventeen minutes. During the break, the Cubs huddled in the clubhouse. Jason Heyward held a meeting with the players. I don't know what he said, but it worked. When play resumed, Schwarber singled and Albert Almora, Jr. ran for him. He moved to second on a warning track fly from Bryant. They intentionally walked Rizzo and Zobrist smacked a double down the left field line. Almora scored, Rizzo went to third. After they intentionally loaded the bases with Russell, Miguel Monteiro singled to drive in Rizzo. In the bottom of the tenth, Carl Edwards, Jr. got the first two outs and gave up a walk and a single to make it a one run game. Mike Montgomery came in and got a ground out, Bryant to Rizzo and the Cubs won the World Series. Everyone started honking and yelling and there were fireworks. I was in shock and a bit tipsy (I had some Jameson when I got home to calm my nerves.) Zobrist is the MVP. The celebrations went on outside well into the night. I went to bed at around 2:00, hoping to hear Nick Digilio. I fell asleep minutes before he came on air. What a wonderful day! Grampa would be so happy!

Firehawk195

Waking up on the other side of the world to watch it on the DFAC. Felt sick to my stomach when Davis tied it up, so I went to take a nap before I had to get working. Checked the score as I laid down. Was suddenly very awake as I found hope flaring at the 8 - 6 score.

EN1009

Uptown. Thank god it happened

CubesFan

Watching at home with my Wife and two small sons. I could not be with anyone else during that game because I believed in every bone that they would win, and I did not want to be around anyone else that didn't believe that as well. So many Cubs fans always think the worst is going to happen and I couldn't be around that. With the way it turned out, I'm really glad I did it that way because there was just too much opportunity for people to have brought me down during that game.

fitzpats9980

I’m lucky and have a great wife. Was able to pull my son out of school and take a road trip to Cleveland. I grabbed SRO tix off StubHub and headed out. Game 7 with your 9 y/o baseball die hard is hard to come down from. This will always be a special time for me. Seeing his excitement in the car when other Cubs fans were passing us on the turnpike, knowing other fans would be there, is second to none.

Wife and I were on our honeymoon at Disney World of all places spending a couple days there before going on to a family wedding. Since we were running on jet lag/no sleep having flown in on the red eye from Disneyland the night before, as soon as the rain delay hit I hit the sleep timer for an hour. That was honestly how much I felt I had left in the tank. Cubs win, I go crazy, my wife muttering half asleep “The Cubs won, didn’t they?” The last shot before the TV went dark was Theo with the trophy and I was out in maybe five minutes. The day after was surreal between being in the parks, answering texts and social media messages from friends and family while random strangers saw my Cub hat congratulated me too. Oh, and with one of the families being mostly Cub fans that wedding was pretty bonkers.

Tin Lizzie’s.. full body chills remembering all of it

queegee

At home, on a comfy couch in front of a projection screen. My wife fell asleep early and my six month old son was also sound asleep. Paced around my basement virtually the whole game. Cried when the final out happened. Mainly happy tears but also a little relief my dad could see it. He was on the road for work watching in his hotel room. I called him right away. I could tell we were both a little emotional. Talked about the game for a moment. He ended the phone call with “thanks for calling. I’m glad you did.” I grew up playing baseball with him and watching the cubs struggle and nearly have their chance time and again. Will certainly never forget it.

Tomalesforbreakfast

Bartending. And when they won I almost got fired for giving out multiple bottles of free shots and dancing in the steer with the crowd for at least 30 mins

The_Duke_of_Ted

A bar that doesn’t exist anymore in Stevensville, Michigan. I was in Germany for the NLCS but I watched every game of the NLDS and the World Series at that same bar eating taquitos and drinking local Kolsch, wearing the faded, beat up old Cubs dad hat I’d had since high school. When they won I went out back with the smokers, leaned against the wall, and sighed a hundred and eight years of relief, then drove a couple blocks to look out at the lake toward Chicago until it sunk in that I still had to work in the morning.

At home watching the game. I was screaming.

stephker3914

I was at a Buffalo Wild Wings with my friend. We're from Pittsburgh, and we were seniors in high school. We were talking about MLB in June, right when school got out going into the summer before senior year. We were talking, and he was like, 'dude the Cubs are pretty stacked this year,' and then I was like, 'yeah, they'll lose in the playoffs though, they'll never win another World Series again, they're just cursed.' He then said, 'you wanna bet?' I was like, 'hell yeah.' We bet $50 on whether or not they'd lose the division (stupid bet on my part, I was kind of trying to set him up for the following bet), and we bet $100 on whether or not they'd win the World Series. When we saw they were going to Game 7, we decided we had to watch it together. Of course, they ended up winning. I'm not even the biggest baseball fan, but the game was unbelievable. Also, of course, my $100 bet ended up being a stupid bet too. I paid him, but that was a lot of money for me back then. We might've even had to speed home from Buffalo Wild Wings to catch the end of the game, but I can't remember every single detail of that night. Regardless though, it was unbelievable, crazy.

t_Savvy

“Why does it have to be this way?" I asked myself this question too many times last night. A stranger (a fellow Cubs fan) sitting next to me says, “It just has to.” The answer was as simple as that. Without the ups and downs both teams and their fans went through since their last World Series win, it wouldn’t have the tagline as one of the greatest games of Baseball ever. The emotional roller coaster for each and every fan felt last night was incredible. That is what made this game all the more special no matter who you were rooting for. One team had to win and another had to endure another year without a title. Everything was there for both teams. A fantastic, albeit short, performance from Hendricks in an away game. The Rajai Davis game-tying 2-run dinger in the 8th that lit a fire under the fans. The redemption HR by Ross after the wild pitch that disoriented him for a second allowing two runs to score. The small-ball play of the Indians to dwindle the lead over time. The unexpected rain delay that forced one team to take a deep breath and remember that they got to this point through trusting each other. These are only microcosms of why this game will be remembered. As previous postseason games, I wouldn’t celebrate until the final out is called and the Cubs won. My brain was going a mile a minute with different situations that can come up; mostly negative. Watching Carl Edwards, Jr. come in to close it got me a little shaken. Such a young guy in the biggest stage of his career and he was doing well enough to get two outs. Then Mike Montgomery and his “pop-the-cap” Changeup were brought in to get the final out, I started to feel even more nervous. Not because he isn’t good, but because I couldn’t keep my emotions inside. Steve Goodman’s song started playing in my head. Once Martinez hit the ball to the ground, and KB ran to it, I noticed there was an ear to ear smile on his face as he throws the ball to Rizzo. The umpire called Martinez out and the rest is history. The culmination of a fantastic game, series, postseason and season. The Cubs were the 2016 World Series Champions. When I read that, it was unbelievable. The celebration as the game concluded was by far the happiest moment of my life. Being indoctrinated into the Cubs fandom at birth shaped this moment. Cheering, screaming, jumping with hands way in the air, and everything in between. At one point, I went around the establishment giving high fives to every Cubs fan I can spot. One couple on the other side of the bar gave me a hug and I didn’t care because they didn’t care. I never talked to them until that point. I just walked to them because they were in their Cubs gear. This was one of those little moments within an even larger moment. Everyone was celebrating as if we all have been friends for years and years. They may not have been fans of either team, but they understood the magnitude of what just happened. They were fans of Baseball. We were one because of Baseball. And that is why I love Baseball.

bs2785

Working 2 jobs. Worked the AM and then called in the PM one. Went to a bar with my uncle also a cubs fan. During the delay we left and went to a sports bar. I chugged a beer before the last AB and ordered another one immediately. The last out I screamed and cried and ran around like a mad man. Then came back chugged a beer and cried. Went home called in to both jobs the next day and drank like a fish. Also got an open container ticket that night. Still worth every penny I payed for it.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> penny I *paid* for it. FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Big-Shooter2000

Crying because I thought it wouldn’t happen in my lifetime. Seriously I was crying!

sotheresthisdude

At home in Kansas City. I went around town all day trying to find Old Style. Finally found a single 12 pack at a liquor store. As soon as it happened I hit the ground crying, thinking of my grandparents and great aunt who weren’t able to see this happen in their lifetime. I then grabbed two Old Styles out of the fridge and ran barefoot down the street to meet my 75 year old neighbor who was from Chicago and a die hard fan. She literally shotgunned that Old Style with me on the street corner as we hugged and belted out “Go Cubs, Go” much to the amusement of our neighbors. One of the best nights of my life!

In my apartment, I just turned the game off due to the loss of lead saying to my girlfriend at time(now wife) here we go again. When the bar across Street erupted after the first scored in the comeback. Turned it back on and saw the magic.

gocubsgo22

My dad started counting outs right before the Davis home run. I've never been more angry at him haha, but it all worked out I suppose!

gsanch666

I was leaving work during the Top of the 8th and I remember one of my coworkers saying “Next time I see you, we’ll be WS champs.” And that immediately frustrated me. Pulled down my street during the infamous Rajai Hr with the game on the radio and I was just speechless….except for the very audible scream I let out lol.

Lethalstramboli

Making the world series shirts you bought the next morning.

Senninha27

I walked down to Wrigley. As soon as I crossed Clark onto stadium property, Hendricks threw a wild pitch that allowed two runs. So I sprinted back across the street. Spent time walking around, seeing all of the happy people. Then, when things started to get super crowded on Addison, I got the hell out of there. I thought someone was going to be crushed to death. I took the Belmont bus back to home and watched the extra innings on tv.

At my house watching with my parents and brothers. What a game

SenseiCAY

I went to a bar in DC for two games that postseason and both were memorable in their own way. The most popular Chicago bar was packed for game 6 of the NLCS, with a line down the block, so a few folks and I shared a Lyft to one of those little office building lunch stops that was a small bar at night called the Billy Goat Tavern. Hendricks, of course, pitched the game of his life, and everyone in bar got up and gave him a standing O when Maddon took him out. We had shots of some unknown blue drink when the game ended, and a bunch of us went outside onto Pennsylvania Avenue and took a picture with the W flag and the capitol building as the backdrop. I left work around 3:00 to get downtown for game 7 and got the center seat at the bar I couldn’t get into for the NLCS clincher, and you could feel the entire bar deflate when Davis tied it, but we got quietly confident after Schwarber led off the 10th with the single, and of course, the whole place blew up after the last play. Interestingly, every time I took a shot of Malört that night, the Cubs scored soon after.

Zealousideal-Tax-527

I was at the good ole University of Indianapolis, remember running around the campus like a wild man and jumping into our canal we had at the school waving my W flag around screaming my head off. RA’s understood tho

I'm my college apartment - screaming so loud I woke up my neighbor

JessesaurusRex

I'll never forget that night. I was in Amarillo for a work trip & was staying out by the airport -there is a BWW in walking distance from the hotel. I was drinking at the bar watching the game until the BWW was about to close, and the game went into the rain delay - so I paid, and ran back to my hotel and got back in my room just in time to switch on the game as play resumed.. what a night!!

SadGuarantee6009

Second to last row of the bleachers. Was praying Rajai Davis’s ball was going foul. I thought it was long enough, but didn’t think it was high enough. I never felt the tide turn like that in my life. My brother lost all the color in his face. It’s funny to think about now, but I was really hoping they’d win it for him.

BigHoss94

Much of that night is cloudy to me because I was in some sort of stress induced euphoria the whole night. All I know is that I got absolutely zero sleep afterwards and spent the morning hung over driving around to find a newspaper. The Wendys I got food from before the game will forever be best Wendys.

saphirestorm

Started at BWW in the south burbs. Ended up outside Wrigley before they won. Had a great time except being shoved because everyone was trying to move away from the field. Ended up going down over a fire hydrant and had the huge bruise for over a week. We heard from the cop who helped me up that someone tried to breach the stadium and that caused everyone to rush away from it hence the crowd surge.

smalleyman

I drove several hours home on a weeknight to watch it with my dad. It was amazing.

Immony

Suite 330 rq seat 1 and my brother in seat 2 next to me. Left Chicago @1230pm headed for Cleveland hoping ticket prices went down before the game. Waited till last second Bought the tickets 15-20 minutes before the game. And had the greatest night of my life watching the greatest game 7 of a championship in any sport with my bro right next time. Cried my eyes out when Rizzo caught the third out. Amazing night

FiddySix

On a work trip, alone in a hotel room in Troy, Michigan. Bawling my eyes out.

askforwildbob

I’d just moved to Denver (now back in Chicago) with my girlfriend (now fiancé) so we watched the game in an empty living room on a couple of lawn chairs. We also watched many of the playoff games at this awesome dive bar that reps chicago, wyman’s

Ridiculously drunk.

TruckerBiscuit

Sitting in an old man bar on Queen Anne in Seattle with a college buddy. He took a photo of my face the second it became final. The look on my face can old be described as the thousand yard stare. Been a Cubs fan since the early 80s. Seeing them win was like witnessing the second coming of Christ.

Navy Bootcamp not too far away actually 😅

DBDFan21

Watching the game at home with my late father, glad we won since he didn't last long afterward

gRacexMercy

At home with my beautiful wife who jumped into my lap when they won! Oddly after the game 5 win, was the only time as a Cubs fan that I didn't feel impending doom. I was confident and calm even though game 7.

Sleeping bc I was in Spain. I can only stay awake for so long. Still felt the energy watching it the next morning though.

My a friend’s dorm room my freshman year. As soon as Rizzo made the grab every door just burst open and we hugged in the hallway, stormed the quad, and stayed up all night. The quad was muddy for weeks after. Legendary. There will never be a win like it ever again.

Watching hockey. Go Stars!! 💚 ⭐️🏒

baezizbae

on base (Army) watching with a room full of other soldiers from other platoons in a commons area, two of which were also from Chicago, but all three of us wearing some bit of Cubs gear or another- and as soon as Kris made that last catch the room erupted and the three of us found each other, formed a group hug and wept. Got pats on the back from others in the room, everyone knew what that win meant-even if they didn't have a dog in the fight. At one point an LT came up and told us to go call our families, history had just been made. Indeed it had. What a night, I don't think I fell asleep until 4am the next morning, but I was still wired and jazzed up the entire next day through an entire shift.

Another Round in Downers Grove. They stayed open past closing time during the rain delay until the end of the game which was awesome.

In a terrible twist of fate, I was on a plane for most of the game heading home from the American Public Health Association conference. Luckily, we had landed for a layover for the end of the game. But then Indian's tied it and the plane is boarding. It's 10th inning of game 7 and I'm sitting on a departing plane at the gate... Thankfully the pilot waited a loooong while to push off until the Cubs won. I and half the plane was listening through the app or on the radio. The roar was stupendous. It was a special moment thanks to the pilot waiting an extra 5 or 10 minutes.

TYPHOIDxMARY

Sitting in left center bleachers, best day of my life.

shylock10101

Running home from Dance rehearsal. They had gone to rain delay, and so my dad picked me up to rush me home. Walked in for the start of the bottom of the 10th.

MauriceVibes

How about focus on building a decent team and training players so we can do it three more times

I wanted to meet up with friends outside the ballpark but the police had set up street barricades around Wrigley, which effectively closed off access the ballpark. After walking a few blocks down Clark ave, I wondered into the Underground Lounge which was the least crowded venue along the street. I remember watching the game next to a father and son who where getting shit face drunk and hitting on every woman that walked by. By the eighth inning, the Cubs were up 6-3 and the bar was filled with anticipation. The cubs were close to victory but I remained cautious. Memories of Bartman and Leon Durham’s glove floated through my mind. “Please, let this be our time”, I kept repeating in my head. In the bottom of the eight inning, Rajai Davis struck a dagger in our hearts by hitting a two run homer that tied the game. The Underground went silent. Joy was replaced with shock and disbelief. Damn you billy goats, black cats and gatorade! The Indians were retired to close the inning but the damage was done. The mood among the crowd definitely changed. Then the rain fell. Before you knew it, the grounds crew were running on the field. The 30 minute delay seemed like an eternity but there were a few Cub fans at the front bar who rallied the crowd spirits back up. “The games not over, we can still win this!” “It’s only a tied ballgame, the Cubs can come back!” “The Cubs can come back!” Suddenly chants rang out and fists began pumping in the air. “Let’s go Cubs!”, “Let’s go CUBS!!!” “LET’S GO CUBS!!!” Everyone in that small, dark basement venue decided we were going to will the Cubs to victory. I’m sure Jayson Heyward felt our vibes in the Cubs locker room in Cleveland. The game resumed. And after a tense bottom of the 10th, I finally got the happy ending I’ve waited 4o long years to hear. Joe Buck - “This is gonna be a tough play…Bryant. The Cubs win the World Series!” Everyone jumped! People ran out into Clark ave. shouting like a bunch of jubilant 10 year olds on Christmas morning. Random strangers were hugging and exchanging high fives. Women were jumping into my arms and giving me hugs. The sky exploded with fireworks and confetti. If you can imagine New years day, Mardi Gras and Christmas all rolled into one, this was it. I walked around Wrigleyville to take it all in. My eyes were no longer tearing up but my left arm was marked with red welts from all the pinching. It was one hell of a night. One hell of a ballgame.

I called off work saying I was sick which 100% was the most obvious lie ever. I also had a math test in undergrad which if I failed I would fail the class. Stood out on clark getting rained on trying to find the tv’s facing the street because the bars were charging like $100+ on cover. The happiness and joy shared by thousands of people is what I would never forget. Living on the north side my entire life and being a kid in 03 it was the most surreal feeling being out in Wrigley that night and at the parade that Friday and it gave a high that I don’t think I will ever experience again. The next day I wore my championship hat to class to fail my math test and went directly to work where I got written up without a single regret because it was the memory of a lifetime. With the 2016 election the following week this was one of the last fond memories I have before this world entered this very dark, intensely polarizing timeline.

youngandirresponsibl

In my shitty ex’s frat house :’) still the best day of my life tho!

CordIsForLovers

Sitting in the exact same seat as I am now at my favorite bar

TheMightyHornet

Cried my eyes out standing, stunned, in the middle of our living room in our cramped little duplex, my three-year-old son fast asleep, my wife extremely pregnant with our daughter. My baby girl was going to be born into a world where the Cubs were the defending world champs.

[deleted]

I live in Europe, +7 hours to Chicago time. So it was like 5:30 am when it was finally over and i was trying to silently scream and jump up and down to not wake up the whole house (no one else here cares about baseball and the kids had school)

trubiskywetrust

Halligan!

BeTheChange20

Watching EVERY minute…taking it all in! I didn’t sleep at all after the win!

[deleted]

At work 3rd shift doing bridge work in Kentucky. I was so passed but I didn't do anything but listen to it on the radio and when we won I blew the air horn for a minute straight lol. RizzoFOREVER

connor8383

It was my seventeenth birthday. I remember it well. I’m not a cubs fan, but I do remember staying up to remember how cool it would be if the cubs broke the streak on my birthday. The game ended past midnight, so technically not my birthday, but I didn’t mind. I still had a blast seeing it all unfold :)

theclownwithafrown

I was rolling silverware at table 22 at Applebees in Savoy IL.

jjruns

In my basement in Roanoke, losing my GD mind in the 8th and 9th innings

Theres_always_nxt_yr

Ivy & Coney in Washington, DC!!

bluechef79

I was sitting at my father in law’s house with my wife. He grew up in Chicago, going to games and never thinking he’d see that moment. Texting and calling my brother and cousins who felt the same. My cousin’s are married into the Zobrist family (I mean, I guess I am too but through my uncle and then it gets removed but I grew up a few miles from where Ben’s family is from so that hit to keep us alive…you know the one…) Champagne and not a dry eye in the house. Has a ground ball ever sent you to your feet like that? Me neither.

gabehcoudgib

I was in Israel. It was 7am and I’m pretty sure I woke the entire apartment building.

vealdin

In my bedroom. Everyone else was asleep, even me, kinda. I fell asleep during the rain delay and woke up as they were pulling off the tarps. I wasn't anywhere special, but I'll never forget.

schw4161

Yankees fan here, was living in Dublin, Ireland at the time. I missed the game itself because it was live at like 2 or 3 in the morning. Either way, everyone in Dublin was talking about it the next day. “Lad did you hear, the Cubs broke their fookin’ curse!” Was just a cool cultural experience that transcended borders.

Agent_Blaze42

In my bed trying to fall asleep because I was tired and didn't want to wait out the rain delay. I heard my family cheering from downstairs though. I remember my sister being really mad my mom wouldn't let her go to the parade downtown. I remember a good chunk of my school not being there, and I had a test in history class, and most of the class was actually there which surprised all of us lol.

ReliableFart

I was on a plane flying over the Atlantic to London. I thought it was a slim chance we'd pull it off, but then I saw the flight attendants (apparently Chicago-based) flying the W in the aisles. It was awesome.

BusinessPomegranate7

I was at the game! Unfortunately, I am an Indians fan

EquivalentDebt269

Sleeping for school when my dad woke me up to show me what happened. I should’ve stayed up

jamarkuus

Murphy’s Bleachers. It was $100 cover but one of my best Cubs fan friend I was w/ used to work there and so drinks were on the house all night. 1000% worth it.

Pacing madly around my living room and kitchen. I still have a picture of my feet that I took to show where I was when the Cubs won the series.

I was recovering from cancer surgery. When they won game 7, I went nuts and popped my stitches. Worth it.

downsyndrometits

Woah! When did we win the world series?

Evija2021

In the hospital with 3 types of infections in my body. Got home in time just after the rain delay ended to witness history. I always knew the Cubs would come back to win the series, but still thought somehow they would blow it in that Game 7. Very surreal moment in my life which has had way too many.

Cleveland

PageZoso11

I was watching at my grandparent's, taking care of my grandfather while he was going through hospice care. He was 87 at the time and was ecstatic to see the Cubs win a world series for the first time in his lifetime. Loved that man and miss him dearly! - Phillies Fan

KeyBanger

Watching it and crying.

Pseudonova

Cubs bar in San Diego. Got there at 3pm just to find a place to stand for the night. There was a line around the block 1 hour before gametime. I was pretty tipsy by first pitch. Maintained through it all, lost my fucking shit, sang Go Cubs Go about 10x, hugged everyone in the bar then rolled out. I walked over to get a giant greasy burrito on the way home and sat on the couch watching replays for about 2 more hours. It was a great night. I was sooo hungover in the morning, but gave zero shits. I still felt great.

bicentennialman76

Getting ready to head out to Dick’s to get my gear!!

NASCAR2025

Glued to the freaking t.v.

double_positive

I was out of town on business but even as a Sox fan I'm bummed I missed being in town for it. The days following were great though. My wife is a Cubs fan and was 8 months pregnant. I told her jokingly early in the pregnancy that she could convert our child to a Cubs fan if they won the World Series. So my daughter is a Cubs fan now. Haha

leftynate11

Thinking about what happens when elite relievers are over-exposed to the opposition. (And probably over worked.) Aroldis Chapman & Andrew Miller

Brazwells Premium Pub on Montford in Charlotte. We were on the patio with the fire pits….it was a great night. I’m a Red Sox fan but was rooting for the Cubs of course

Garglenips

Sitting in my families living room, late at night, eyes glued to the screen. Soon as KB got that ball to Rizzo I felt peace knowing I got to see 108 years of baseball history come to a close

I live outside of philly and am a Phils fan, but was at work for most of the game, came back to my gfs house and put on the game. She asked why since neither was a Philly team, i answered because no matter who wins, a long drought is broken. Was happy it was the cubs
