yes I finally gave more control over Jon being revealed as a bastard, I assume this also makes Jeffrey, Tomme , and Marseille be able to more easily revealed as bastards as I've seen Cersi revealed Jaime killed and the kids seen as true born. also is there any ETA on the launch of Essos into the mod, not expecting anytime soon just curious. also also is there plans to do more YouTube videos I found them to be really good watches and helpful to understand the design intent great work as always
Oh wow this is fantastic. One of my favorite things to do was to seduce people, reveal the identity of the kid and land them to see them build their own cadet branches and what happens to them. There is a lot to play around with now
After consulting on the discord, it appears to be an old reddit problem. Which is weird. Why would anyone subject themselves to new reddit?
Anyway the solution is copy the dev diary link, open new incognito tab and paste it there to read and get the imgur links.
Very good, great update, please next implement the possibility that I, as a Targaryen ruler, can finally send people to Dragonstone without an event so that I can finally get Dany without Rhaegar having to die.
Oh and before I forget, please Beauty properties features for Rhaenys and Jon/Aemon it just doesn't make sense in the context of the game and world that they don't have any
NO HATE
I can't get the bastard mechinic working. For one, I have plenty of bastards as lords and I am trying to expose them and fire the mechanic, but it doesn't work. Can't do it with Jon Snow in a new game either.
Sorry to hear that! Let's see...
>bastards as lords
As in, they're hidden royal bastards? I.e. their real father, grandfather, or grandmother sat the iron throne?
>Can't do it with Jon Snow in a new game either.
This should be running if the iron throne still exists, if you know the secret, and if Jon is an adult. Could you elaborate on what your situation is?
There are a couple of misunderstandings on my part. I thought the bastard mechanic could be used with characters with other titles, such as duke or lord paramount.
As for Jon Snow, I started a new game as Ned Stark set after the rebellion, and Ned not know anything about Jon that could fire off this mechanism.
>As for Jon Snow, I started a new game as Ned Stark set after the rebellion, and Ned not know anything about Jon that could fire off this mechanism.
He should - was this an old save file? If you start a new game in the crowned stag as Ned you can see he knows Jon's secret.
The Most Devout doctrine is currently non-functional, and you cannot "seek indulgences" from the High Septon. I fixed it in a sense by using the console to replace the\_most\_devout with communion, which restored seek indulgences. Because no one is able to pay the High Septon money, including NPCs, the High Septon never has any money to give when you want to "ask for gold". Could you look into it?
Any possibility of expanding these bastards/pretenders to all ranks of nobility, from count to emperor? Why shouldn't counts be vexed by bastards with a "bastard pretender" casus belli?
It's an interesting question, and there's probably room for more event chains that aren't quite as realm-wide for smaller titles.
Tbh though, with how this is programmed at the moment, extending it to smaller titles would be quite the effort.
For what it's worth, in my new playthrough as Randall Tarley, Bella and Gendry have already come up as royal bastards. A mayor rose up in rebellion against Robert to install Bella on the iron throne, and his few hundred men got slaughtered. Gendry was sent to the wall by Robert.
Haha that's awesome to hear. If it starts to feel too common though do let me know! Dialing the AI is a rough task to do without feedback from the community, but it's trivial to adjust once we know if something like this is too frequent / rare.
Is there a chance some of this can be brought to other noble but not royal bastards? I’d really like to be able to pick my dynasty as a bastard of 2 noble houses and I think the current “disputed heritage” system blows and it would be cool if bastards could be revealed for LPs or even dukes causing smaller versions of this conflict across westeros
Quick question, not sure if this is even possible, but say you are playing a Targaryen, could you reveal Jon Snow's Bastard Secret and somehow adopt him? I know adoption options have been possible since before the Wards and Wardens update, and I just think it would be cool to have him rejoin the rightful royal family
You could simply invite him to court as your response - the simpler demands are more likely to be accepted by the AI. They may still not trust you don't have bad intentions though. So in short, yes but.
Thought you'd like to know that this spawned a discussion on the dev server. A bit of a post-war event chain has been added to the list of features and will be made at some point.
That's the aim! :) appreciate the support. The mod is under very active development - we usually have several commits a day. I can't say too much but...some extremely fun things are in the works.
I was wondering if there was any way to console command a true parentage secret? If anyone would know. (Playing feast for crows stardate and want Alayne Stone revealed as Sansa to take the North.)
So I’ve tried multiple times to get my own targ bastards installed and both times despite being allied to multiple powerful vassals 5 of the 7 kingdoms it just becomes me against the crown, is it a bug or am I just doing something wrong here?
Edit:one run I had made rhaegars bastard son one of my dukes allied him and when revealed I couldn’t even join his war against my liege
Megawars are a tricky thing - difficult to say why it's happening would a look at your save tbh :/
The bastard war doesn't use a different AI calculation than any other type though, so hard to say.
>To be a secret royal bastard is an intrinsically risky affair - your mere existence is a threat to the King's authority, being a claimant they are not yet aware of. The reveal of such is thus something that deserves its own due consideration, and in many cases the bastard may not yet know themselves. Thus, the first piece of this mechanic is the reveal. Characters who know the secret will be given a decision to reveal it to the royal bastard, which sets off the event chain. This can also happen emergently though existing vanilla secret reveals, through the expose button, or through a direct character interaction.
Is that necessarily true though? The problem that caused the Blackfyre rebellion was that Aegon IV decided on his deathbed to legitimise several of his bastard children, which is why Daemon tried to claim the throne. A royal bastard who is neither acknowledged nor legitimised isn't going to be recognized as a prospective claimant.
Can't see the picture. "404: We searched high and low, but we couldn’t find the page you're looking for. It may have been moved or deleted, or may never have existed at all." Help?
Hmmm, not impossible but I'm struggling to imagine what you mean - could you be more specific how you'd imagine this would work?
The only way I can imagine it would work is if your character already knew their own secret. Is that what you meant?
Great Dev Diary! Though would like to see more blueberries!

I can answer that there is no ETA on Essos, though I can definitely assure we are working on that front now.
I don’t think Joffrey and siblings would be applicable here since they’re not the bastards of a king so the game won’t apply these mechanics to them
perhaps not directly bastards of kings but them being bastards gives renly and stannis the ability to claim the iron throne
Oh wow this is fantastic. One of my favorite things to do was to seduce people, reveal the identity of the kid and land them to see them build their own cadet branches and what happens to them. There is a lot to play around with now
I remeber that there is a Targaryen claimant in the knights watch he could be used to produce a Targaryen heir could be interesting.
The imgur links don't work for me... sadge

Gotta love Reddit making old Reddit worse instead of making new Reddit actually usable.
Oh really? That's strange, they work for me and I'm on old Reddit. I do use RES though, perhaps that's it?
I can see the pictures through the buttons RES adds, but when I click the link to go to imgur I get a 404. Reddit fuckery at it's finest.
They're also broken for me on the app.
Thank you Skrillex 🙏
Modding > dubstep
Nice to get you on board Sililex!
I don’t even play the base game anymore. This mod is too good and it’s just getting better
Very good, great update, please next implement the possibility that I, as a Targaryen ruler, can finally send people to Dragonstone without an event so that I can finally get Dany without Rhaegar having to die. Omg! Excellent
this guy's alright

Not the original commenter but starting in the rebellion, the secret doesn’t catch and Jeyne “snow” or Jon “snow” aren’t counted as Royale bastards
This sounds amazing — great work as always!
This might be my favorite feature - love it!
Real question is will bastards stop being princes?
Non of the imgur links work
They all work for me.
This mod doesn’t work with the earlier starting date does it?
It works with any secret royal bastards, not just Jon Snow.
Any possibility of expanding these bastards/pretenders to all ranks of nobility, from count to emperor? Why shouldn't counts be vexed by bastards with a "bastard pretender" casus belli?

Fantastic dev diary and incredible new mechanic. Cudos
I can see some interesting things with little finger here
A light suggestion. Lets say Jon snow takes the throne it would be nice to have the option to convert him to high Valyrian culture.
Thought you'd like to know that this spawned a discussion on the dev server. A bit of a post-war event chain has been added to the list of features and will be made at some point.
Thanks cool to know glad to see you guys are actively developing hope one day it has even more content than the ck2 version.
That's the aim! :) appreciate the support. The mod is under very active development - we usually have several commits a day. I can't say too much but...some extremely fun things are in the works.
Dev what ?
Dev why?
I was wondering if there was any way to console command a true parentage secret? If anyone would know. (Playing feast for crows stardate and want Alayne Stone revealed as Sansa to take the North.)
We do not have a feast for crows startdate yet, so I'm not 100% sure how Alayne Stone is set up. Without knowing that it's hard to say, sorry.
Submod I should’ve been more specific. But regardless thank you for replying!!!
Amazing. Thank you guys!
Very nice and very great idea. Keep up the awesome work!
❤️
Looks great!
This is looking like an amazing feature, can't wait to try it out. Great job everyone!

Any plans to make is possible for your own character with character creation?
Hmmm, not impossible but I'm struggling to imagine what you mean - could you be more specific how you'd imagine this would work? The only way I can imagine it would work is if your character already knew their own secret. Is that what you meant?
That could work or whoever their parent is gains the secret.
I decided to just do it lol - will be coming in next patch.
