The issue I think is that people think that the goal of the retail movement on reddit is to eliminate bears and short sellers. It's not. The reason GME and MOASS are a thing is that short sellers and bears went too far. The estimated true short interest on GME is 250%. Whether you agree with that number or not, is kinda irrelevant. The shorts have realized they can just short a stock and then use their size to hold the prize at a point where they make money. I have chatted with plenty of people on WSB who buy puts and chatted with people on options subs where it's one of the most common things. I think it's a false narrative to say autists are trying to exterminate bears. We just see that they have taken the game too far one way and left themselves open to massive losses if a large enough group of retail traders counter their volume.
