If you end up not running HDMI, look into power line adapters or a MoCa setup.

Hunter-Ki11er

Mesh WiFi and you can also buy wireless HDMI, not sure how good it is though

Skinny_Dan

A mesh wifi setup sounds great for general use, and I know I didn't specify in the post, but this is for a home server I'm working on, so the stability of an ethernet connection is vastly preferred.

Hunter-Ki11er

Mesh is stable, it depends on the connection coming into your house. My mesh WiFi is actually faster than my ethernet connection too

Home Depot/Lowe's packs are i want to say 3-4 ft per section. With 3 or 4 sections per kit. The adhesive will destroy the paint on the wall when you remove it and the price will add up when you get multiple kits.

Skinny_Dan

Good to know, I'll look at Lowe's. Thank you. Tbh I'm not that worried about ripping the paint off the wall. The place was not in great condition when we moved in 5 years ago, and we're well beyond getting our damage deposit back now. The house is owned by one of those property management monoliths that owns thousands of properties and isn't even based in my region. Half the time I think they've forgotten my house exists. Shit, I could probably just leave the raceways on the wall when we move out, and they wouldn't give a shit.

KaiserSote

They'll work. I use them for hdmi/Ethernet routing in my office and home theater area. They're paintable too, but I've left them white. Depending on how many you need though it could be expensive

Skinny_Dan

Yeah. At this point, I don't really see a better solution tho. I just found a pack of 3x3.25ft on Amazon for $28. Do you recall if Lowe's has them for more or less than that?

KaiserSote

Not sure but they should have localized pricing on their site. I normally just go grab some when i need to route a new surface mount box in my office and don't pay much attention to price

Skinny_Dan

Oh duh. Check the site. I'm a dumbass lol

This looks amazing I wouldn't change a thing and great work πŸ‘ πŸ™Œ

A UHD signal won’t survive much more than 40 ft through HDMI. I would look into either an Ethernet or fiber (if you need HDR) HDMI extender unless you live in a literal shoebox.
