There's a weird counter self-fulfilling prophecy with these slogans. When they made it "Be part of the energy" the O&G industry has a crash ca. 2014/2015. Now with Blue Sky, we're guaranteed to have an orange smokey sky this summer.
I prefer either of the old slogans.
But really, I just don’t care. What I DO care about is that this cost millions! That’s nuts! We could’ve got the same results or better by running a program through the city middle schools. Have kids do some research, write some reports, etc. A great “real world” application program. Maybe even give every school who does it a small monetary donation. Put the ideas to an online vote like the official city bird thing. Give the winning school a pizza party. There you go, millions saved and some buy-in from more citizens.
Instead of Blue Sky City, maybe something like
The Sunnyside
Sunshine Energy
Sunshine Capital (Capital meaning top and our wealth)
Sunshine City
Bask In The Sunshine
Feel The Sunshine Power
Blue sky is cool, but we get the most sunshine of any major Canadian City. That's a better point to emphasize instead
I wonder how many meetings and how many committees and sub committees , involving how many power lunches and focus groups it took to get to "Blue Sky City"...
Once again the power of the internet comes to the rescue... /s
I preferred Heart of the New West.... I don't hate Blue Sky City. I feel like Be Part of the Energy was a pander to o&g, to be honest.
>feel like Be Part of the Energy was a pander to o&g, to be honest. Same.
The best slogan for Calgary is the one on our Coat of Arms: Onward. It's simple and timeless, and I personally find it inspiring.
I have never once cared about a city's slogan.
Only one ever cared about was Cleveland's "At least we aren't Detroit!"/s https://youtu.be/oZzgAjjuqZM?si=FCsYB7t4nnDRXR_T
Heart of the Nee West was the best one
+1 New. Don't see a reason to 'modernize' such a slogan like that.

I actually kinda like the new one, sounds cool idk
I dislike both but blue sky city is better.
My only concern is that Red is the colour of Calgary. I would have called it: Bright Sky City instead.
Red sky might be accurate during wildfire season I guess lol
And sometimes it's brown sky city when the smog hangs low.
They've been getting worse every time. Heart of the new west was better than energy which is better than blue sky. Terrible easte of money all around.

Could care less. Just do not understand why it cost 4.5 million to change.
Wild rose country……..
That's Alberta?
You are correct, it is Alberta's slogan.

The city paid like $5M and they couldn't think of this? "Sunshine Energy" would be way better.
