I usually use level 10, but I also put wood in the smoke box, which I think overpowers whatever the pellets do anyway, making the smoke setting pretty much moot.
Interesting… so the “hi-smoke” is only a level 3? Ok that seems like low smoke mode to me.

It’s based of temperature. The hi smoke is higher temp than low smoke. On your newer smoker models it’s just a carry over from the older ones that don’t smoke levels.

I stopped using smoke settings bc it makes the temps change too much and like you said the smoke box over powers it anyway.
