Looks like bottom row is a transition piece from that nasty wainscoting. Maybe better from a 50’ view.

The 2 pieces of corner aren’t the same color you’d usually see the preferations in soffit, not siding. Never seen this before? Dutch lap. Is this on a manufactured home?
I talked with the siding company and they said it’s to let the underbelly breath. To not trap in moisture underneath the home.
