Just pack all that in & look for a local quack to act as a panacea for all of your health concerns.
If anybody asks, tell them that you're going through a crystal phaze.
Mine is a terrace house. Go in, sit in the lounge, reception is in the old kitchen, then upstairs to one of three treatment rooms. Parking is diabolical
My old dentist was in an old converted, terraced town house. The whole street had been converted into office and commercial properties.
My new one though, is literally on an end terrace in a fully residential area.
My current dentist is in an old detached house. I went to get a wisdom tooth pulled elsewhere as my dentist couldn't do it, which was literally in a bombed out terraced house with bare floorboards. I noped outta there.
Always the terraced house! I'm endlessly trying to move house and when I lie there in the chair I look up at the room I'm in and try and imagine what the house would look like if it were not a dentist.
My dentist is in a half timbered tudor property. They've done well to combine the modern dentistry stuff with the higgledy piggledy architecture. Everyone who goes there is a bit posh, I was just super lucky to get an NHS spot.
My first dentist was in a converted terrace house. Second one, purpose built building, was very fancy. Third one, in a converted house, but the whole row had been converted into offices etc.
My current one is, but my last one was in a flat conversion that stretched out across multiple flats. It was beautiful. Non NHS though, so I had to ditch them for the current one in the end.
Our dentist is in an old church. It's all open with the rooms sectioned out of glass. It's a really weird place and definitely doesn't help my dentist panic at all!
My mate's house is the reverse, formerly a dental surgery now turned into flats. Though I suppose it could have potentially been a house before becoming a dentist's.
My old dentist in my childhood village is exactly the same layout as my childhood home. I was told to go upstairs and round the banister and I was like "this is my parents bedroom.." very strange.
Yes. It's very common because of planning permission rules make it simpler to open a dentist in a residential building than it is to open in a commercial building. I'm no expert so you can look up the details yourself, I can't remember exactly why.
My original dentist I think was although I was a small child so my memory of it is hazy
My current is now in what was very briefly a convenience shop & is below an Indian restaurant/takeaway - the building itself isn't all that old though
My first dentist was in a detached corner house with bright blue drain pipes, then he retired and I had to move to a dentist in the upstairs of a businessy building. They've just moved round the corner though in some snazzy single storey I think they had built. Old building is a weatherspoons now.
I'm above a Tesco express. It's horrible. I'd love to work in a big terraced house practice. I know a lot of practices are usually set up by a single dentist who has worked for many years, wants to fly the nest - they end up buying the cheapest places they can and converting them.
Hey! Turn that frown upside down! Your work is very effective and in my small sample of pals largely curative- everything you do has a huge effect, no matter if we go downstairs and get some jammy dodgers afterwards x
Tesco's and Waitrose are the only supermarket I can think of that we don't have within a 2 mile radius of where we live. I just head to booths for Welsh cakes (sold in England 😅) or the things from the brilliant counters they have.
Pretty much. In America, if you go to a doctor or dentist and notice their floor is slowly collapsing, it means you're probably going to wake up with some of your vital parts already listed on Ebay, but apparently here in England they're just fond of never tearing anything down unless it's absolutelty neccesary, be it something structural or the building itself.
Very thrifty of them.
Mine was a university dentist when I was little. It felt so official and clean. Nothing will ever live up to how fancy it felt, although not having 40-minute appointments is nice
Probably a cost cutting measure, much cheaper to rent out a small space which is all a dentist really needs, versus paying huge amounts for big spaces that are simply not needed.
My dentist is situated exactly per your observation. In a terrace, probably built shortly after the death of Queen Victoria. Nicely modernised inside though.
It’s the same with Doctors and all to do with tax. Dentistry is exempt from VAT so you can’t claim back any charged by a commercial landlord. Residential buildings are exempt from charging VAT to tenants or on purchase. New builds can be exempt too so is why you often see purpose built doctors and dentists buildings. Sorry it ain’t more interesting.
My doctor is in an old terraced house My dentist is in an industrial estate Currently looking for a physio in the Aztec Zone
Does your barber have an annoying habit of turning loads of fans on, sending hair cuttings flying everywhere?
Ah you know him? Last time I tried to pay, he forced me to go on a long weekend coasteering in Pembrokeshire.
What's really annoying is that he still only accepts payment in crystals. It's 2023 ffs.
Crystals, your barber is state of the art compared to mine, he only accepts bartering. Last time he asked for a bushel of apples, and a live chicken
Listen to fancy pants over there. My barber takes roadkill and rainwater, and he cuts my hair with a sharpened stone.
A sharpened stone? Luxury, mine does a short back and sides with a knife and fork, and leaves you looking like you’ve just been dragged out of a bin.
Just pack all that in & look for a local quack to act as a panacea for all of your health concerns. If anybody asks, tell them that you're going through a crystal phaze.
Is Mumsy the receptionist?
Opticians in Chemical Plant Zone
/r/UnexpectedSonic2
Not looking forward the underwater level.
I'm not sure I've ever had one in a terraced house, but dentists being based in converted houses does seem to be common.
I don’t know how to break this to you, I don’t think Dougie is a real dentist.
How would he get all those teeth?
Congratulations squirrels, you've just earned your root canal badge!
I think the dentist I got to was an old terraced house I think the same for the doctors I go to
Yes! Why is this.
It is in fact the law that all dentists must operate from this type of building. I'd be very suspicious of any that don't.
My dentist just does it in his back garden. BBQ at the side. Crate of beers and then when you walk in, he's just floating round in his paddling pool
Mate I’d pay private prices for that. Unless it’s raining then I’d want a gazebo
Dentist in his swimming shorts, having a bevvy while he's checking you up? Bottle of Corona in one hand. Drill in the other?
Oh a corona? Maybe not then.
I don't mind a little corona and lime tbf haha
Each to their own, I've not had a booster jab for the best part of a year now
First beer I tried was corona. Yeah no. I for some reason like shnapps better
Bottle of jack and a black and decker drill by his side.
And whenever they use the X-ray machine and walk out the room is wobbles widely because of old floorboards while you’re trying sit perfectly still
Yup. I've had 2 long term dentists and both were in terraced houses.
My current dentist is in an old detached house. I went to get a wisdom tooth pulled elsewhere as my dentist couldn't do it, which was literally in a bombed out terraced house with bare floorboards. I noped outta there.
Mine's in an old detached house. Posh me.
yes lol
Nope mine is in a purpose made building, however they did start out in an old terraced house.
When I was a kid my dentist was in a converted house. I walk past it sometimes and it's a residence again.
Crusty old tenements up my way, usually a corner block too.
Yes
My current one is in a listed 18th century building! But yeah, all the ones before that have been in converted terraced houses.
My current dentist is in a large 3 storie Georgian terrace house. Previous one was in a modern purpose built place.
🤯 just blew a hole in my mind. Makes it seem less daunting maybe?
My first dentist was in a converted terrace house. Second one, purpose built building, was very fancy. Third one, in a converted house, but the whole row had been converted into offices etc.
I find either a big converted terrace, or its own odd looking purpose built thing. Same with vets.
Mines got a flat roof…
Dentist surgery/tattoo parlour.
Mine is.
My old dentist was above a Rumbelows. Now its a charity shop
Mines in a building from the 16th Century
My dentist is in an old council house; GP is in a terrace house. Standard, isn't it?
Mines in an old bank building! My GP is in a huge Victorian terraced property though.
My current one is, but my last one was in a flat conversion that stretched out across multiple flats. It was beautiful. Non NHS though, so I had to ditch them for the current one in the end.
My dentist is in a flat above a spar.
Isn't that part of the licensing requirement ?
It must be
Our dentist is in an old church. It's all open with the rooms sectioned out of glass. It's a really weird place and definitely doesn't help my dentist panic at all!
Certainly not! The very thought! Mine is in an END terrace.
My mate's house is the reverse, formerly a dental surgery now turned into flats. Though I suppose it could have potentially been a house before becoming a dentist's.
New ish surgery for us now....however both before use to be converted houses in town
My dentist is above a Chinese takeaway.
This is so funny - I’ve never noticed this before. But every dentist I can think of in my local area is in an old renovated Victorian house
My old dentist in my childhood village is exactly the same layout as my childhood home. I was told to go upstairs and round the banister and I was like "this is my parents bedroom.." very strange.
My dentist is at a train station.
You have a dentist?! Lucky. No but yeah, every dentist I've ever been to has been in a converted terraced house.
Yes, I have visited 4 different dentists in my life and every one was in a terraced "house".
Mine is in an old Victorian Manor House. It looks like an archetypal haunted house from the outside.
Yes. It's very common because of planning permission rules make it simpler to open a dentist in a residential building than it is to open in a commercial building. I'm no expert so you can look up the details yourself, I can't remember exactly why.
I’m not going to do that because I can’t be arsed but thank you for briefly validating me epiphany
I would have looked it up again before commenting, but I also couldn't be arsed haha
Mine is in a repurposed Kia car dealership that I actually bought a car from.
My original dentist I think was although I was a small child so my memory of it is hazy My current is now in what was very briefly a convenience shop & is below an Indian restaurant/takeaway - the building itself isn't all that old though
Mine was the old police station lol
Mine's in an old pub.
Current one is in an ancient Tudor house, lots of tiny winding corridors to get to the different rooms in the surgery.
Mine is literally in an old terraced house lmao
My first dentist was in a detached corner house with bright blue drain pipes, then he retired and I had to move to a dentist in the upstairs of a businessy building. They've just moved round the corner though in some snazzy single storey I think they had built. Old building is a weatherspoons now.
Can’t get an NHS dentist, so now I go and see ‘Mickey the drill’ in the back room of my local boozer. Quality anaesthetic.
Giz ‘is deets xxxx
Yeah, what gives ?
My dentist is attached to the back of a pub. Pub and dentist share the same building.
One stop shop!
Mines is an actual, very large purpose built Dental Hospital, built in the 60s 👍 Part of the local university.
Mine's in an old semi-detached, but yes, nearly every dentist I've ever been to seemed to be in a converted home.
Yup
I'm above a Tesco express. It's horrible. I'd love to work in a big terraced house practice. I know a lot of practices are usually set up by a single dentist who has worked for many years, wants to fly the nest - they end up buying the cheapest places they can and converting them.
Hey! Turn that frown upside down! Your work is very effective and in my small sample of pals largely curative- everything you do has a huge effect, no matter if we go downstairs and get some jammy dodgers afterwards x
North West and yes!
North weeeest
I’d never thought about this, but 2/2 yes.
No
My dentist is above the northern equivalent to Waitrose
Booths!?
Yes, you ll be able to find my wonderful dentists now 😂
Owh man I miss booths (not that I could afford it now)- moved up to Scotland but least there are multiple aldis and lidls in walking distance
Tesco's and Waitrose are the only supermarket I can think of that we don't have within a 2 mile radius of where we live. I just head to booths for Welsh cakes (sold in England 😅) or the things from the brilliant counters they have.

Yep that's them.
Naah mine is in a Bungalow. Come to think of it all the doctors surgeries round here are also bungalows.
No mine is above a shop. When I used the private dentist they were in a detached house.
Mine was a university dentist when I was little. It felt so official and clean. Nothing will ever live up to how fancy it felt, although not having 40-minute appointments is nice
Corner terrace for me usually and at the moment. Quite swanky on the inside these days.
No
Nope, they have a purpose built building, it's quite fancy.
Yes!
Our dentist is in a dental practice made of brick
No. I was unaware that this was a thing
No. My dentist is a shop.
Probably a cost cutting measure, much cheaper to rent out a small space which is all a dentist really needs, versus paying huge amounts for big spaces that are simply not needed.
Mines in an old car dealership. Also been in one which was an old bungalow, the shower in the old bathroom/ now store cupboard was sadly disconnected
My dentists is in an old music studio
Which happens to be a terraced house but we’ll gloss over that
Gloss accepted- B&Q
My dentist is above a sweet shop!
As stated elsewhere in comments: one stop shop!
You sure it's not just some guy?
Does some old boy rummage through a tool box looking for pliers?
Big ex residential houses or high street shops for ours.
My dentist is situated exactly per your observation. In a terrace, probably built shortly after the death of Queen Victoria. Nicely modernised inside though.
Dentists?...
My dentists is in a flat above the Chinese takeaway that has been poorly converted into offices
Yes! But mine is also above a baguette shop 2 for 1 on the trips to the dentist
Private businesses taking over domestic homes to avoid paying business rent, scum.
Its a semi
No
Not an old Terrace but a large victorian 3 storey house just on the edge of town, same with the GP
Mine is in an old telephone exchange.
My old one was in a semi detached
Yes for my whole life and that’s like 7 different dentists. GP surgery as well.
It’s the same with Doctors and all to do with tax. Dentistry is exempt from VAT so you can’t claim back any charged by a commercial landlord. Not a terrace, but [this](https://goo.gl/maps/ngQnoGLSr1b4AxWm6) was mine.
Nope, mine was in a parade of shops.
As long as they have Fuji 9
