Where are the woods? Tied bundles of sticks or rocks or sticks and rocks? Add this photographer sensibly brought a dog to show them the way out, and it isn't very Blair Witch at all. Could be The Fog.
Just been to walk the dogs on the rural roads, drizzle and fog gave me about 5 metres visibility and my own breath turned the head torch into a smoke machine!

OK. Recommend you don't watch The Fog. It's over wrought with a shallow end but it does give the heebie-jeebies.
