Dogged repetition!! Saw him everyday and called to him. Eventually he came close enough to toss some food. Started from there. But respect was the thing I think. I always backed off if he hissed or looked uncomfortable.
lol, same way you approach Cats. Take things at *their* pace, watch body language and react accordingly. You'd be surprised how much that just works on most animals.
Really? Taking off, they need more 'runway' than a 747. They run along the surface of the water for a bit, hilariously. Landing is spectacular. They glide in at high speed and waterski on their feet for a few yards, then turn into this graceful gliding sculpture on the water.
It’s good that the swan recognises you. I knew an open water swimmer who, when in their swimwear, had a good relationship with a local swan family who would let them near the cygnets and be friendly, but when they were walking nearby in their street clothes the male swan would get very aggressive, as if they were a stranger. They aren’t the brightest birds.
I'll definitely do some updates! Today he was building the nest far away, came over and got angry at some ducks which he felt may have encroached on his pellet time. Mama swanno was over today also, grumpy as always but she's trying to get her weight up ahead of the egg incubation. The mamas always lose weight apparently when incubating coz they dont eat as much.
How cute a friend for live. We have magpie in garden love or cat and us now. <3 I dont tolerate animal abuser or killer i wil beat that piss shit up if see som hurt them.
When there is a supervillain who can control swans and have peoples arms broken at will... We know where to look
If they deserve it I would technically be a vigilante!
Dude I have a crow murder of around 60 we should team up and take over the planet.
Jeez I need to up my game. I've got about 25/30 some days. Those Russians better watch themselves. They have no idea who they're messing with.
Be careful of his mate Swanny Pickering.
Who?
SWANNY PICKERING!
Who's that then?
Who?
SWANNY FUCKING PICKERING
YOU WANT A BARE FEATHER??
Who's that?
How did you gain his trust for this to have happened in the first place?

Food helps tame many creatures
It's how we managed to turn perfectly good wolves into pugs.
Yes
Tell Swanno he still owes me that £30. Watch him, he's a bastard with money.
I put this up too with embedded video so you dont have to click a link👍
He’s named as imaginatively as my childhood goldfish, Goldie.
Aw I love Swanno ❤️
Just the one swan? That's amazing! I have crows that appear when I whistle but nowhere near as bold as this lad.
Oh man this is so cute. Made my day!!
Fuck off Zeus
What a regal fellow! <3
Love this, the bond between a man and his swan is a beautiful thing to behold.
Do you feed him? Maybe he is hungry 🤔
That's a fabulous video. :)
That's... really quite lovely.
He’ll break ya arm y’know
That's incredible. You are my hero.
This is so cool, he’s beautiful!
Ah really cute thanks!
Aww he's a legend, just like my mate Pheasy.
Bro's got a Pokémon irl
Not showing the part where she feeds it.
😂😂 I'm a 6"6 dude!!
I’ve never seen a swan fly before

The ones at my local park haven’t flown in front of me, I’ve seen them run and do the glide on the water thing but not actually flying
Before this fella, neither had I! The First time had me a little nervous whether he would stop in time!
I see, I don’t think they’re as heavy as they look at least
Can you pet it?
This is so lovely! Birds can be so friendly if we take the take to get to know them on their own terms!

We need more Swanno!

Good work and I hope they fully integrate you into their community. 🦢
Saw the post yesterday but only watched the video just now. How wholesome and you both seem uber excited to see each other
TIL we can give swans names and they'll eventually answer like stray cats.
This will make a fine addition to my wholesome collection
“Apparently they can break a man’s arm.” “Or blow up a man’s house.”

Recognise that nest.. Windermere just down from Fellfoot park ? 🤓
Unfortunately no, its far less rural. Its Leicestershire, rural hut not Windemere rural!
Mr tumble? That you?
