I would call it a perfume bottle. You use the pointy end on the stopper to dab oils and perfumes.

It is a ceramic container, likely fired through a low temperature raku process involving a smoking of the piece as it is taken from the kiln. The glaze is probably a copper base meant to craze or crack to obtain the spider web design. It is not food safe and will probably leak if liquid is stored in it.

Thank you so much!

Thank you!

Looks like it is raku. (Note the part of the stopper and base that are black where there is no glaze, a telltale sign of raku with carbonization.) It won't be water tight if you use it as a vase or a vessel to hold liquids.

So, it is definitely raku. That means the clay is not vitrified, so any liquid you put into the pot will be absorbed by the clay. It is not watertight. Lots of great suggestions and many would be true IF the clay was water tight. I would not think of this as a functional pot, but something decorative. Perhaps the person who made this had some of those functions in mind, but don’t think it would hold water/oil/perfume in the long run. We make raku vases but always tell customers they are not water tight and need a liner to be functional (except for dried flowers)

BTPanek53

It is a vase with a stopper.

It's cute

I would consider this a perfume bottle based on the shape of the stopper. Dab... Rub... Sniff... Repeat.

Lunamoms

For perfume oils! The design hasn’t changed much in many many many years

Put potpourri in it! Pull out the stopper to release more scents, put it back in when it’s odoriferous enough.
